I just got admitted with Full Funding with GSU atlanta for Masters Fall 2019.i still have 6 other MS application and 2 PhD left and expecting a decision
Below is my profile.
GRE 287
BSc GPA 3.77/4 Nig
MS GPA. 3.4/4. UK
Publication:1
Two years teaching experience as a per time lecturer
6 letters of recommendation, only two required thoug
TOEFL waived
Professional certification in Project management
6 pages SOP
1 award

Note: My GRE result was worse, had less than 20th percentile in each section with Analytical writing of 3.0

Pls always try your luck, dont let a low GRE score stop you from applying. JUST TRY

Bros please I sent you a Pm. I wish to apply for MS in GSU for Fall2019. I have checked my faculty's requirements and GRE is not required, though I am required to evaluate my credentials but I wish to enquire somethings from you before I proceed. Please what is the possibility of one getting full funding in GSU without GRE? Did you evaluate your Credentials? I want to apply for MA in Special Education and I have 3.61 in Education

After calculating with wes tools I got 2.59/4
Godsmercy11:
This is my advice .... Since you have your transcript i will advice that you evaluate your cgpa to US standard using the WES Gpa calculator( check their website for it) see if you could get a 2.75/2.8 then streamline schools who will accept your gpa of 2.75/2.8 be sure that there are a lot of schools in usa that would accept such grades ...

GSU have in-house evaluation team that evaluates your transcript provided it is a scanned official transcript (student copy) and stamped.

You can always apply since your department does not require GRE. Infact there was a school i applied to that didn't require GRE buh I contacted the department to be sure but i insisted i was gonna still send it. It was reject on the application portal cos it wasn't needed. The departmental sceretary told me that only Trancript and recommendation plus SOP is required for funding and admission plus TOEFL is waived.

Since your GPA is 3.6/5, please use other application documents like SOP, Recommendations etc to boost ur application. For me, my addition documents includes 3 3 other recommendation letter, making it 6, all the training certificate i had, either relevant or not, employment letter, publication, conference attended, awards etc. All this thing counts when an applicant has weak GPA buh most importantly your courses you took in your transcript also matters. They use that to check if you can excel in the program and also if there are still some deficiencies.

My advice is that you APPLY immediately and hope for the best. GSU also waives TOEFL so you got no problem.

No error at all, i studied chemistry and I graduated 2014, 2-2 starts from 2.4 according to faculty of science handbook

Bro what year did you grad and what department? Maybe there is a restructure in the grading system. I also grad in eksu. For years this has been the grading system:

4.5 - 5.0 First class
3.5 - 4.49 Second class upper
2.5 - 3.49 Second class Lower
1.5 - 2.49. Third Class
1.0 - 1.49 Pass

Hope there is no error in your transcript?

Thank you...I still have questions about the WES conversion. My course is 4years but I had extra year(repeated some courses) should I use 5years on the course duration? Or should I replace the failed course with the newly passed course after the extra year?
I need information on this please

Bro i will suggest you look for schools first. Try Castleton University, Vermont if they are offering your program. If you have other requirements like GRE and the like it will compliment each other and i am sure you will get admited. Some schools offers conditional admision. Just take your time to make research. Dont be worried about your GPA. You will still see better schools to admit you.

It took you 5 years to get your degree due to the extra year right? Then its 5 years for course duration.... Although one thing i am not sure about, is how the extra year grades would be calculated because i never evaluated my result using any external evaluation service...

Pls, I would like you experts to juxtapose how easy it is to obtain a PR in the US and Australia after the completion of an MSC or after securing a Job?

You should replace the failed course grade with the newly passed grade. That's how WES calculates GPA. Also, your final 2 years grade carries more value compared to the other years, so if you did better then, your evaluated grade goes up.
I would however advise that you just pay WES for the evaluation to be certain. The value I got using the free online evaluation was different (lower) compared to the GPA WES sent to me after their own evaluation. I hope this helps...

And I am saying stop concluding no one reads it because they sure do for those candidates they finally admit. The guy who wrote his SOP in 6 pages might have reasons why he did that. Like he said, he has publication(s) and may also have some "work in progress" which he might want to discuss in details in his SOP. Good to advice on what you think is best but unfair to conclude on what you might not be privy to.

Arguing about this is a waste of precious time. I don't expect you to accept but your acceptance doesn't change the fact about it. It's just like saying someone shouldn't have a 1-page resume because he has multiple jobs and several awards whereas, a lot of top CEOs and very accomplished people still find space to make their resumes a single page.

If your school tells you they read your 6 page SOP, they're lying to you. Don't even bother replying cos I'll ignore.

Haaah. Why are u guys arguing on my 6 pages SOP. But from my little experience in the UK while being a student and also a PhD applicant. THEY READ EVERYTHING. Infact i once had 2 pages SOP buh one of my POI emailed me to write details about my research projects and all that he wants to know how my research goal matches his own.So it all depends on the Departments and there core values.

Pls end the conversation abeg. I wish everybody Goodluck. One love

You mean work based PR? That would depend on a lot of factors such as your major, companies in your field sponsoring international students etc

This is very very rude
I wonder what prompted this toxic comment, does that mean anyone with a second class lower or below was busy pursuing other things.

I think you're the one who needs to go back to school to learn manners and how to talk to people better!

You speak with so much confidence. Why arguing over something you are not certain about. Some schools have the time and read everything. Some GC even told me that. 80% of schools require max of 2page SOP, some max of 500 words while others don't give any specification for SOP. Please speak on only what you are 100% sure of since you haven't for once joined an admission committee.

Hi guys, do we have peeps on here that school in Tennessee? I just moved down to this state and I’m really struggling to find Nigerians around. I have lived in Houston for the most part of my stay in this country and trying to get use to not seeing a lot of Nigerians and eating Naija food like we do in Houston is making me feel sick. It feels like I just got to the USA yesterday. I know a lot of people on here got admitted to schools in Tennessee a couple of years ago, but I’m not sure of what the situation is currently. I will like to connect with peeps already here in Tennessee or those planning to further their studies in this part of the country. I definitely can help out for a couple of days if anyone needs a place to stay. Glad this thread is still relevant!!!

Happy Sunday fam..

Pls I need clarification on this. A friend of mine got admitted in Murray State University with 30% funding but her admission is CONDITIONAL ADMISSION (she must to pass a particular course before she can be granted full admission). Will the CONDITIONAL ADMISSION stuff have any effect on her Visa approval?
