Wrong Expression: Is 'She is Pregnant FOR him' wrong or correct ? by kingIfey(op): 6:16pm On Feb 14, 2019
She is pregnant for me ❌
My classmate is pregnant for her dad's driver❌

Why are those sentences wrong?

Pregnant can go with a few prepositions, for example: pregnant for, pregnant by and pregnant with.

Pregnant for: this goes with a period of time.e.g she was pregnant for three months before she began taking the drugs.

Pregnant by : this is used with somebody, usually the person who got someone pregnant.

She is pregnant by me ✔
My classmate is pregnant by her dad's driver✔

Finally , pregnant with is easy to understand.

She is pregnant with a child.✔

Native speakers in Australia still say 'pregnant to someone'.
When you are pregnant to someone , that person is responsible for it.

People hardly use 'pregnant with a child' because once you say 'she is pregnant', you wouldn't expect any other thing other than a child. A human can't be pregnant with puppies .

You can say,

'when my mum was pregnant with me, she ate a lot of bat pepper soup' , maybe that's why I'm hairy

Alright, I hope you understood the post. Share this with someone.

So you can ask

Whom are you pregnant by?✔

Not

Who are you pregnant for?❌

The class is done and dusted
