Northeastern University! My school. What course were you admitted into? Did you get any Graduate Assistant position? The money needed to collect I20 no be beans o. Anyway, to get I20 for my course, you'd have to pay a tuition deposit of 100 USD (36,000 naira), you need to send them account statement of 44,784 USD (over 16m) for tuition and living expenses and attach a currency conversion form which you would be able to download from a link that would be sent to you. After submitting financial documents, your I20 will take between 4 to 6 weeks to be processed and sent to you then you can pay your Sevis fee and apply for Visa.

Getting a visa shouldn't be a problem because V.Os know its a good university.

Northeastern university is a really good school. I was once interested in going for my masters but was discouraged by the little or no funding opportunities available.

Hello. Please my visa was delayed twice last year . When i ask the vo reason, she was even nice enough to tell me that an average US citizen cant afford the tuition fee ( 46k usd) and i dont have any schorlarship or partial funding. Although my sponsor acct statement cover that. Please this is my question now, i applied to another school and got partial funding, hope it wont affect my interview and also how can i transfer my initial sevis fee i paid to the new school pls. Thanks

Yes, very weird. I got a J-1 visa in 2014 so I'm really hopeful that I get this one.

Good afternoon all, Congrats to all those that secured admission, funding and visa.

I’m currently preparing applications for a Masters in Electrical Engineering (non-thesis), I recently took the Gre which really hit me but I’ve decided to proceed using it. Please I will greatly appreciate any help

My profile
GPA (free wes evaluation): 3.8/4
GRE: 153Q, 155V
IELTS: 8.0
Work experience: Industrial training for 6 months (and NYSC posting to a school)

I have tried to pick out a few schools that I think would fit my profile (mostly as a result of the Gre)
Texas tech
Texas state
University of texas Dallas
University of texas Elpaso
Texa A&M kingsville

However I can only afford to apply to 3 schools, please I would appreciate your suggestions and advice, I’m also open to other school suggestions (preferably in Texas. Thank you

Good day everyone, please is it compulsory your letter of recommendation come from professors. My department has few professors of which I have engaged their services. I still have more recommendations to submit, can I use the senior lecturers who are not professors?

You can give your lecturers as long as they can give you a very good recommendation. I left school in 2014 and I have worked with 2 organizations. So I used my line managers/team leads instead of my lecturers.

It depends on the school and how you act during your interview though. But yes you can't predict what goes on in a VO's head.

By the way, I'm a huge fan. Team Lagosismymummy. I've followed this thread for years. Happy Sunday Ma.

Guys quick question what are your thoughts on taking a loan to go to a great school? Worth it or not?

Proper research needs to be done... some schools have powerful or good recruitment for post graduation that for such schools then it yes

Some good schools and only good in names ... you realise after your program it really hasnt given you any edge.

Also it depends on the program so it not a clear cut.

Hmm. I think it depends on the program you're going for and the job prospects it provides upon completion. An MBA program for instance in a good school has a good ROI so you can pay off the loan in no time. Same goes for an engineering/computer science course and some science courses.

The only hurdle I see is convincing the VO but I know some people who've obtained visas with loans so I don't think this should be that much of a problem.

I was offered an application fee waiver for an MBA from a top 50 school so I just thought to apply, the worst that could happen was a denial, right? I was offered admission with partial funding and i would consider seeking for a loan too if I decide to pursue an MBA over my MS/PhD applications. When that time comes.

Please, how long does it take for someone to get a date for interview after applying for visa?

Someone told me to contact any effective and reliable traveling agencies, as they can get for me an interview date within a short time... Also, they can give huge edge of getting visa?
How true is this my fellow Narialanders?

CMU is a no-go-area. More so CIS in CMU can be acquired online. For these two reasons, you must remove CMU from your subsequent US visa applications. I am speaking from experience.
