Gonna make this short....

Started feeling pain exactly a year ago during NYSC at Kano on my right breast, did some online inquiry and suspected Gynecomastia, as i wasn't so sure, i went to the community hospital and the Doctor said it's what i suspected, and said it was as a result of Hormonal imbalance, he gave me drug prescription, which i took to the Pharmacy and sadly they had just one of the three, as i wasn't sure of taking an incomplete dosage, i didn't buy the drug... Sadly while packing my stuffs at the end of the service year i left the drug prescribed for me at Kano, now it seems the Gynecomastia won't go, although there as been no real increase in the size, but i still can't wear tight hug shirts like i used to...... need an a

dvice on what to do, and by the way am 23.....
although a medical friend said it will go away with time, he's still a medical student though..

i can only speak on d bp.. my friend just take ur mind off it or minimize d thought and worry of it . it obvious ur problem can be solve thru surgery . just visit lasuth. and d cost implication wont be much. worrying much about it will only trigger the problem and induce other health issues ... Save safe and God will perfect ur health

You can get this surgery done at the Obafemi Awolowo University teaching hospital. They'll examine it and recommend whether its right for your or not. My parents paid for mine and it cost about N300,000 including the ward I stayed, but I'm not completely sure if that was the final cost. It was done exactly a year ago (Feb 19th, 2018) and the scars are still there but it's progressively healing. If you eventually do make sure you use Shea butter after so the scars will go away faster, I should've known. I might probably get a tattoo to cover up my scars later on. I'm sorry I might not be able to provide so much information about it but I'd recommend you do it here, in India the surgery costs the equivalent of N700,000 and in the United States it costs well upward of N1 million.
The doctors at OAU are very professional and you have nothing to worry about regarding their competence. Also, they'll take whatever they removed from your chest to the forensic department to be sure its just gynecomastia and not something more sinister.
My life feels so much better now, I can wear properly fitted clothes without feeling insecure now.

****Also, if its just fat and not gyno they'll advise you to do more exercise and eat healthier. They'll examine you properly sha.

****Like someone else has stated, surgery is the ONLY option. Especially if the growth has stagnated as the doctors explained to me. At that point its just dead weight that has to be removed surgically. Mine was extremely large so I was sedated under general anaesthesia, the doctor said using local anaesthesia on me would require too much of it. It's a relatively short surgery, I think mine lasted for two hours and that's because of how big mine was. Man, it was weird being as skinny as I am, yet with giant mounds of god knows what on my chest.

I'm happy for you bro...i won't tell you not to get tattoos but i don't think it is necessary. Your chest is looking like eyes...so cute! cheesy

Jakumo:

My operation was carried out by a doctor whose office was at the time located on North Mountain Avenue, in Ontario, Southern California, not far from Ontario Airport.

That said, there are bound to be competent doctors who can carry out the procedure in absolute safety if you happen to live in Nigeria, though you will need to exercise due diligence in selecting the doctor to perform this simple procedure with the precision that is essential, to prevent complications post-surgery.

My surgery was done under local anesthetic, so after being given a couple of small injections on the chest, I could sit up fully conscious to observe the process, which was accompanied by a loud repetitive scraping noise, as the doctor separated my skin from the underlying tissue with a blunt instrument, while a steady stream of blood was vacuumed off by the nurse. It is vital the surgeon ensures ALL the fatty tissue beneath the nipple is cleanly removed, including the two narrow string-like structures called "tails" that extend upwards toward each armpit, along the lateral edges of the chest (pectoralis) muscle.

For week or two at the most after the surgery, the doctor will leave a tiny drain-pipe in the stitched-up cut through which the surgery was performed, to empty out fluids as the healing takes place under a light wound dressing. When that dressing comes off, and the tiny drain-pipe is extracted, there will still be some minor swelling that will subside completely in another week or so, at which point this minor medical condition that has inconvenienced you for so long, will cease to be a part of your life, forever.

Once again, do NOT pick an doctor whose reputation cannot be thoroughly investigated, because the are are risks of nerve damage or even infection that can ONLY be minimized by putting yourself in the hands of the most highly qualified and experienced surgeon one can afford.

All the best, my brother, and remember, don't allow anyone to steer you into hormonal treatment. That chit is really bad news to the human body. Surgery is your ONLY viable and SAFE option, if handled by the right doctor.

Professor Awe, CMD, igbinedion university teaching hospital can perform the surgery I can assure you that.
Even, the small incision procedure is a walk in the park for him compared to the numerous complex surgeries he's done

Thanks man! grin And yeah personally I wouldn't mind living without the tattoos but I hate having to explain myself to every single person that asks what happened as soon as they see my chest. Some even ask if I'm transgender (wtf, right??). But its the best feeling in the world to be free from gynecomastia.

Hi all, a friend of mine had this surgery to relieve himself from the depression of man boobs, but post surgery problem has put him back into depression. The upper chest now looks bigger than d lower chest as a result of excess extraction of fluids after d surgery. Is there anything he can do to normalize his chest and feel like a man for once? Can gym help in this issue? Please your advice is needed.

Evening all,was at the Somolu general hospital yesterday, the doctor said it's some sort of hormonal imbalance, and said I should go for a scan which I couldn't do cos of the amount, but I was surprised when she checked my BP and it reads 150/100,like that is way too high for me,she further said I should go for blood test.... which I will do once I have enough cash.....just thought of updating you guys and if there are things I should stop doing to reduce my BP......thanks

Relax yourself and you will be fine

Your BP is semi high because of your stress over your chest development

Try and check other government hospitals where the scan can be done cheaper

Though me cure at oshodi does such test but I don't know there prices

Just male your survey and check the one with lesser price

It is important to note that certain drugs for other ailments can cause this. Ulcer patients for example, who take cemetidine for treatment are at risk.

Go to Gbagada General Hospital instead. They have better facility and the cost might be cheaper for the test there.

It is gynaecomastia. It could be congenital or caused by some form of drugs.
It is best treated by a surgical removal done by a plastic surgeon.

Check my signature below . I have written on all the cost of common cosmetic surgery done in Nigeria.

You should better visit a good hospital for a better medical test and check up to know what exactly is the cause befor it will be too late. Cancer is rampant nowadays. (quote author=koppa post=64148440]Gonna make this short....

Mahn i think that is absolutely normal. It happened to me i developed it during puberty and it is still like that then i was in boarding school and many boys developed it too. When it began it used to be painful with a round lump under it but the pain has stopped. The problem about is that it is very embarrasing my friends made fun of me about it. Hope this helps.

Gynecomastia is a pretty common condition. Even though gynecomastia is not harmful and does not affect the physical health of the patient, the social stigma with men having excess breast skin or enlarged breast tissue can be psychologically damaging and physically uncomfortable. There are various approaches to treat the condition including exercise, medications and surgery.

Check your diet too. Heard foods like soya milk etc give so much estrogen...... Visit an endocrinologist though if you are sure ur diet isn't the cause
