Hello guys, pls I did MSc in NOUN, which federal university can I apply for PhD with my noun certificate? I should get my certificate before August, 2.1 grade. pls I want to know which federal university accept noun certificate. thanks.

I once asked this question and got bashed. Was even asking if one could do a master's or Mba, didn't get any reasonable reply from those who went to NOUN.

The difference is that NOUN is the name of a person, Animal, place or thing. In other words it's a "name" of a quick certificate for already employed people who got employed with a lesser qualification but wants to advance in career for better earnings and positions.

Other Universities are verbs. They are the functional certificates you can use as a fresh employee to get employment.

In practice no employer takes fresh employees with Noun certificates serious.

Why should they? Is not the same government that owns both the military and the university? Abeg, I know soldiers doing NOUN degrees.

As a matter of fact, there are NOUN special centers for military forces, go and find out.

Any Federal University will admit you if you meet their requirements. One of us in NOUN did his First degree programme on Education and graduated with 2.2, today he is convinently running his Masters Degree in Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife. I wish you the best sir.

I'm an ex-Seminarian of the Catholic Church. Consequently, I have a bachelor of philosophy ( B. Phil) from Urbaniana University of Rome through affiliation with my seminary which is Bigard memorial seminary Enugu.

My seminary is also affiliated to University of Ibadan which gives us Nigerian certificate but during my set, the seminary lost the Ibadan affiliation after NUC visited the school. We were then left with just that foreign certificate.

The problem now is that the certificate is not recognized by NUC which makes it impossible for us to participate in NYSC.

So I wanna know, is that certificate Now totally useless or is there anyway it can still be useful to me. Can I use it for masters in the US or elsewhere. What do you know?

It can't be useless, that's such an understatement. Sincerely, NYSC is overrated in Nigeria. The way people attach importance to it shows how boxed-in people's mindsets are. You have to think outside the box.

If you so much require NYSC validation, you can get an exclusion certificate from NYSC, it is the same certificate given to those who studied based on distance learning, anywhere in the world. Try to visit NYSC or write them. It should be possible.

About applying to the US or any other university, all you need is to apply first. As long as the school in Rome can validate your degree, it shouldn't be a big deal. Just don't make any reference to any Nigerian university in the application since it's a foreign qualification. Please get the stress off your mind and start using what you have...
