Biko relax. They will calm down eventually. Except you are curenrtly pregnant and want to go back for birth. If not try other countries for vacation. There are so many beautiful cities for vacation

Hmmm, SMH!....what a serious cry out...out of desperation undecided

If Nigeria was not a Very Hopeless Country that has lead people in thousands to now seek out having their babies abroad like the US, Canada and even Brazil just for the sake of foreign citizenship and in some cases to use the route to escape running away from Nigeria? Changing the requirements at any time to be granted US visas from the visa officers will not be so painful and to result in people now protesting. Very Sad.

I have come to realize that most complaints of US visa denials that people post on this forum should be taken with a grain of salt and not the gospel truth in all entirety.

Quite understand your last paragraph, I take that into cognizance to some extent.

I however do not understand the message you are passing with the very last parts of your first and second paragraphs as bolded above, especially the one in the second paragraph.... Can you categorically say you have answers to the questions posed? At what point did the requirements change, and what exactly are the known requirements as at today from a reliable source, a US government or consular reliable source I mean? SMH

Maryland hardly gives discount. .. They gave me just 1% discount which is less than $20. I noticed the VO kept on checking the bottom of the itemized bill to see if there was any significant discount .

Can't say if ur discount is too much.. . But I can tell you that they frown at low medical bills aand huge discount.

@Maryland mama and other sisters that can help, Please what is the easiest way I can reach you. I am applying for the US Visa for the first time. I dont mind calling you. Please I have a couple of questions. I just got denied canadian visa unfortunately. I am already 30wks.

are you still in Virginia? i ll suggest meeting the financial counsellor in person and trash things out...the itemized bills should have the actual amounts paid without discount since the letter of indebtedness doesnt cover anymore.. but no they insist it cant be done...I don call tire...eventually 1 day it will be sorted out.
Missionary journey was about 2 yrs ago only dr fz replied ,tricia,NAPA and sheridan are mute,i wish i can even get a letter stating it is a law in virginia.
Wow so they refuse to give new bills that dont show discount thats bad o cos on d bill it states it as “insurance deductions and discounts”
If they dont give a new bill thats one chance how do u explain $10000 discount lol

Dr FZ should be able to talk to them now
Pls mums in virginia explain our plight remember after u come back u join the virginia mums gang o

@beautyaddy, the requirements for the grant of a tourist visa has always been that the potential applicant can show or demonstart course that he or she is not a potential immigrant amd intends to return back to his home country. Reason why the issue of ties in home country is very key in the grant of a tourist visa. Now , how does this relate to refusing visa because peopke used hospitaks below 10k or received discounts from hospitals. Discounts that are available to all self pay patients regardless of race, or your immigration status including american citizens and lawful residents. The same bill you presented to the embassy and your visa was approved, is tge same subject matter of refusal now.

Same with a friend's baby who had some issues and was taking to Nicu, with discount and plenty abeg her bills was discounted down to about 18k which she ended up settling via payment plan. Fast forward to drop box visa renewal and she was invited for interview and visa was granted. Nothing satisfies these Vo's these days like high bills

Women going to give birth should be careful of Oakbend Medical Center, Texas. They would give you a bill then after you have left, they would file to government that you owe them and collect the money from Government. if you go for a visa for your kids or hubby, it would be stated that you owe medical bills in Texas and they wont be granted visa. True experiences from women who gave birth in Oakbend Medical Center.

Good afternoon everyone;
Please any mama(s) here that used JH Stroger cook county in Chicago for birthing and has/have renewed their visa should please share their experiences as regards this discount or no discount saga.

My Dropbox application is going to 2 weeks now and I have not heard any feedback from the embassy.

My question is, does JH stroger OB- package for self-pay patients qualify as discounted bill?
I paid a total of 7.35k dollars; is this considered to small for normal delivery and red flag in visa renewal.
This suspense is annoying and unfair.
Please help shed some light on this.

Thanks all.

I was at the hospital in March 2018, a lady I flew with had her baby there, went to congratulate her, Parkview has low bill, lower than St Francis. But her Dr charged higher than the hospital bill. Everything she paid was about $5500 including Dr and hospital.

Hello everyone, am new here. My wife is planning to deliver in the USA. A friend recommended parkview hospital riverside California and doctor emeruwa to us. Was wondering If anyone here has used either the hospital or the doctor. Nothing beats first hand experience. I have also check here and can only see reference to dr mbagwu of st Francis. Pls help a brother. Thanks

Please which hospital did you use in Maryland? I would also like to know the Doctor.

Marylandmama:
So I went for my 221G interview today... .

Brief history : I got my 1st Visa in 2014 and I declared it was for birthing during the interview, I gave birth In 2015 and renewed my visa via dropbox in 2016. I had my 2nd baby in 2017 and also went on vacation in 2018.

Fast forward to Dec 2018, we applied for dropbox but we got the letter to schedule a follow up appointment in Jan after 5weeks. .. We got Feb 27th for the interview date. So many people were at the embassy for 221G interview.

Got to our turn
Me and DH: good morning
VO: how many kids did you have in the US?
Me: 2
VO: can I see your payment receipt
Me: hands over the well arranged receipts per birth itemised bill from both hosp and doctor (I used Maryland for both delivery, same hosp and doctor and paid about 11k dollars per birth)
VO: what are you going to do in the US?
Me: vacation
VO: how long?
Me: 3 weeks
VO: where are you going to and do you have someone there?
Me: Maryland and yes, my uncle
VO: wat do you do
Me and DH: blah blah blah
VO starts to detach pur old passports from the bundle and I knew at that point that she was going to give us.
VO hands over the white paper and told us to pick up our passports in 3days.

Am so relieved and happy .

What I heard from other people's interview is that itemised bill is a must have and they frown at huge discount. Heard a VO telling a pregnant lady that the discount she got for her previous birth was too much and she denied her.
Another man was denied cos he didn't come with his wife's itemised bill instead he came with a letter saying she's not owing.
I also noticed the VO was checking something on the wall in her cubicle : as if they have price list of how much hospital bills shld be per state.
I wish other people going for interview good luck oh

After my letter of intent wahala with Nigeria Embassy and dropping off my new correspondence as requested by the VO I waited for their email or response nothing came in; on the 14th of February I left for my MJ; POE JFK with Delta; Arrived early hours the next day and here is my Transcript.

VO: where will you be staying, do you have a correspondence with the hospital and how much do you have on you?
ME: I gave him all the answer
VO: He said okay I should give him a minute ( he spoke to his colleague and next thing he ask me to follow him to the other room; where he dropped my document and another VO took it and he ask me to wait)
New VO called me

Stamped my visa for 6 months and handed me back my passport and told me safe delivery and do enjoy your stay.
ME: took my passport; thanked him and left.

There are several people that has renewed even with the old bill, I'm also waiting to see who renewed with the new bill though it took effect Oct 20th 2017. I'm hopeful we will find someone. The bill is 6,318. Why did you end up with a higher bill?

It looks like the higher the better now, please just request for your itemized bill

Okay I don’t know if this is derailing from the topic but i know it will help someone.
Last two years December (2017) i went to the US to have my baby.
My visa was due to expire December 13. My baby was due to be delivered December 10... my question then was should i risk it and travel? What if they send me back ( because they do check all the papers or Atleast ask you all the questions)
Anyway to cut the long story short! I did travel they stamped me 6 months extra! I travelled in october.

Update: I got my passport today with the visa granted. Thank y’all for the encouragement. God bless you.

Finally, congratulations dear.

I have gone through your posts but need a few clarifications:
1) is this your first time going to the US for childbirth? If no, how much was your last bill and what hospital did you use?
2) what’s your current medical budget for this delivery ( is it $11,000 or $15,000)?

My husband and I have decided that I use other hospitals outside Texas in order to get a non discounted bill. I contacted Memorial Herman in Texas previously . My entire medical bill would be about $12,000.
( Hospital bill about $7,000 discounted).
Would you advice I use them or rather present two correspondences( one with $12,000 and another with $15,000?) and then explain my reasons for presenting both?

Dear Nairalanders, please I need your advice.
