Even in the SW, they are less concerned with contesting whether Akure or Oshogbo or Ogbomosho is "Yoruba land". Only Lagos inspires this conflict because they've resolved to grasp for what they know they don't really "own". It's overcompensation for the insecurities many of them feel about the status of an evolving cosmopolitan city that was Nigeria's capital for over 76 years since 1914.

What is embarrassing about the "ownership" debate is just how primitive it is in the 21st century. What does it add to your life as an individual whether Lagos is Yoruba land or "no man's land"? What special privileges does it earn you?
