This is nice. I like that Obiano is now working with first class contractors.

Obiano is connecting Anambra towns with solid bridges and some fools think one Umahi in Ebonyi State is performing better than him

Because they’re indeed first class. You can’t compare Julius Berger, Arab Contractors with the average local contractors.. there’s levels in everything

You can’t compare roads done by Julius Berger to the roads done by others.. That’s why Ngige roads are still solid while most of Obi roads have collapsed. Ngige used setraco

Whats ingenious about primitive transport? The government needs to up its game on urban transport. Places like Onitsha have outgrown even tricycles. There need to be 30 seater buses running scheduled routes in places like Onitsha and Awka.

So this is not even a "TRI" cycle because it has "FOUR" tires! grin grin grin grin grin

Obiano and Anambra enforcement team should ensure the tricycles look like Keke Napepe and they should not operate on the expressway for any reason whatsoever.

Work Advances On Abidi Umuoji Gully Erosion Control Project

A cross section of Anambra state rural dwellers affirms that Governor Willie Obiano is keeping Faith with the promise of repositioning the state for the better.

Within the five years of Governor Obiano’s administration, virtually all the communities have received fair share of democracy dividend.

Staff reporter Blessing Ijedibia who was at the over thirty years old gully erosion site at Abidi Umuoji, reports that work is progressing and the people of the area chanted praises for the Governor.

The Abidi Umuoji gully erosion site popularly known as Mgbomgbo Ama Ogbuagu by the natives, has been a gory site to the people of Umuoji and other neigbouring communities for over thirty years.

But today the people have a better story to tell as the state government and the World Bank, through NEWMAP, have sustained efforts towards reclaiming the land devastated by erosion.

At the site, it was observed that heavy duty construction equipment were all actively involved in the construction process.

It was also observed that greater percentage of the road has been sand filled and graded while a dam- like drainage channel is being constructed at the site .

The road which stretches across eight villages in Umuoji and links Abatete has a catchment pit under construction to contain the volume of water in the area.

Appreciating the extent of work so far done on the road, a resident of the area Madam Okafor who said she was overwhelmed with joy, noted that they can now interact with their kit and kins in other villages as they now have easy access to them.

In their separate speeches, Messrs Rowland Nnama and Frank Chidume, expressed gratitude to the God and appreciated the state government and World Bank for touching their lives positively.

Also speaking, Dr. Basil Ojukwu, emphasized that the gully erosion site is now a good sight to behold.

Although the road is yet to be completed, school children are already making use of the road as they were seen trekking home, using the stretch.

AWKA

Awka has improved but government needs to do a lot more.

1) Enforce Standards for Bus Parks. The state has to set standards for bus parks to curtail the lawlessness and informalism of buses "loading" along expressways or open areas adjacent to expressways. All buses should park within walled off areas, maintain proper ticketing offices, passenger conveniences (shops, toilet facilities) and security. The bus park has to maintain documentation of vehicles, registration, tax, insurance, driver details and passenger manifests which state agents should collect on a daily basis.

2) The government needs to start looking into franchising 30 seater buses with separate entry/exit doors for high traffic inter-city routes like Zik Ave, Works Rd, Obi Okoli, Ifite Road, Secretariat Rd, etc and then slowly get keke off these routes.

3) The government needs to focus on upgrading commercial roads in Awka like Ziks Ave, Ifite Rd, Club Rd, Obi Okoli from the slums they have turned to. These roads need to recovered from illegal hawkers, touts, cars parking illegally on the sides, gutters piled with and stinking with filth. These streets need to be cleaned up and made comfortable for shoppers with pavements for walking, disciplined traffic police, parking garages or off-street parking, proper waste management.

4) Markets like Eke Awka and Nkwo Amaenyi needs to be walled off completely from Zik Avenue. These markets need to submit their physical shopping layout to the Physical Planning Board and comply with taxation, standards of waste management, sanitation, parking, fire ordinances, conveniences and security. All informal markets in the state need to formalize their design with the physical planning board and comply with standards. It is not surprising that with the illiterates that run markets most have no toilet facilities, no formal waste collection or disposal, have tiny muddy parking areas or none at all, no or limited water supply yet billions are transacted every day from these places.

It's not like I'm against what u have written ooo but, why don't u yourself partner with the Anambra state's govt to introduce this BRT transport system? Since u are very visionary, it would be better if u do it yourself rather than wait for one unknown private investor to do it.

Thank you very much for seeing what we have been complaining about here. Some people are just all noise but they have no pin in their father's house. That's why i usually get angry at that guy. His ITK is so much that you will keep wondering why he has not achieved anything in his life with all that he claims to know.
