I have been a silent follower.

let me drop my transcript here.

I applied via drop box to renew my usa visa and I stated I was going for medicals. 221g letter was sent to me and I rescheduled for interview. Unfortunately a week to my interview I had pre term labour at 6 months and they could not keep the baby since he was not up to 7 months. I reschedule my interview due to health reasons after delivery.

Today I went for my interview at Abuja consular.

VO: When last did you go the usa.
me: 2013

vo: how long did you stay?
me: 2 to 3 weeks

vo: for what ?
me: Christmas holiday

vo: who do you know?
me: my brother

vo: how did he get to usa:
me: visa lottery

vo: I can see you wanted to stay for three months, why?
me: so I explained how i lost my baby at 6 months just before the interview, so i rescheduled.

vo; what does you husband do, how much does he earn?
me: I answered her.

vo: what do you do?
me: answered

vo: I can see you earn ......
me; yes i do and my salary has been upgraded this month to......

vo: will you have a baby within the next two years?
me: yes of course.

vo: will use like to give birth in the us
me: yes, if doctors gives me the go ahead to travel, due to my history.

VO: What countries have you visited
me: Uk,France, Spain, Luxembourg, Netherlands ,Belgium, Uae, Gambia, Benin rep..etc

vo: okay, i will be giving you this visa, please pay all your bills and do not accept any discount. get your itemized bills and all the necessary receipts.
me: yes i will

me: I asked her if i needed to inform them when next I get pregnant, she said no, but i should declare it at the point of entry, and have enough funds to cover my treatment.

Thank you lord for this victory, and for doing something for me to wipe away my tears.

Yes it will state what you want. But it is not being changed for change sake. It is being changed to avoid a refusal.

Very soon we will soon see transcripts asking why the applicant modified the address on birth certificate. And the VO would accuse the applicant of trying to cover her tracks after using government funds. Enter birth certificate modification saga.

My point is we can't circumvent everything. Let's face it headlong and hope for the best. It wasn't intentional. If they don't listen then fine. Move on.

Everybody with his or her own decision,if u want to move on fine,I will open up and say I made a mistake and I’m in d process of correcting it, watever rocks your boat pls do, it’s their visa and if they deny bcs of birth Cert the only thing I can do is try to amend it,I can’t say I won’t and force them to give me visa.i can only try

Hello once again would you advice i apply for the medical visa with my husband and son, bearing in mind i might travel with only my son and daughter and hubby might stay back. or should i just leave them to use their B1B2 visa since their purpose of visit will be for tourism while mine will be for birth.
sorry if the story is complicated, i can send a PM.

OmoBendel24:

Those notes are definitely there. Turning up for an interview should be the correct and most appropriate thing to do still, especially having previously resolved the former birthing at an interview with them. But like you I’m more afraid that $4K matter may just come up and affect your application much more than the timing of the previous pregnancy.

One thing is certain, if you don’t take the “risk” of going in for an interview now, you may have to use a crane to pull down everything US Embassy to ever renew that visa, like a camel passing through the needle’s eye precisely.... Difficult as it seems, It’s in your best interest to do it now please!

I don't believe that the American embassy is targeting Nigerians regarding this birthing issue, we all know what the problem is here though some are playing a blinder.

How many people here have gone for an interview, declare child birth, present burden of proof, VO was convinced and issued a visa then you traveled , gave birth and paid exactly or above that amount you presented to VO during your interview and was unable to renew that visa?

I have lost count of how many times people come here to ask for cheap hospital or birthing centre after getting a visa, if you convinced the VO that you planned to spend $10-15K and got the visa but you decided to go for cheap and cheerful option then don't expect to get that visa renewed.

I don't agree with this. What is usually presented is a budget which includes transportation, accommodation, and miscellaneous expenses. The VO's don't look at the total cost presented during the interview. They go straight for the itemized hospital bill.

So because I presented a budget of $20,000 I should now create medical emergencies so that the the money will finish because I budgeted for emergencies?

I dont agree with this. A lot of people here secured medical visa using correspondence from hospitals like oakbend or even sone cheaper or slightly higher options all below 10k snd their visa were approved. Now they find it hard renewing those visas. Because we are nigerians doesnt mean everything has to be our fault

I totally disagree with you on this please!
Budget is different from actual and don't you forget that the budget sheets usual include all expenses ranging from flight (for you and LO), accommodation, feeding, processing of document et al.
That aside, when did "cheap" become "fraud" all because of visa renewal if I may ask?
And what law of economics says that your budgeted and actual expenses must always agree?

Let's be objective in our analysis and call a spade a spade!

If you travel to any country on vacation or business and get discounts on goods, does that automatically make you a criminal or violator of immigration rules.

For years now, Nigerians have been travelling to India for diverse medical treatments in relatively cheap facilities (hospitals) and no hell has broken loose yet..
So what makes the case of getting cheap medical treatment in the US a crime for Nigerians if not that these are deliberate acts to discourage birth tourism?

I also hope you are aware that most of the documents/drafts of these OB packages clearly state; as a clause that if insurance is discovered on the patient's name, the contract is voided.

So what's the crime?

The attitude that some of us portray on forum like these are examples of the type of poor governance we all are complaining of in "OUR" leaders. Most of us simply cannot stand for the truth.
...Once a seemingly superior person or group of persons (especially white skinned) take a negative stand on something, what most of us do is "follow follow".

It is well.

I don't expect many to agree with me on this because its a touchy topic.

I'm not talking about your budget for transport, accommodation etc..i'm talking about actual delivery cost, the VO will not approve your visa if you told her that you will be paying little to nothing with discount, your visa was approved because you presented a budget fitting enough for child birth.

Your last paragraph is quite frankly insulting and playing race card on this is shameful.

Lets call a spade a spade most Nigerians are dishonest, fraudulent and crafty, we get so angry when called out.

This is not about white superiority, this is about what many Nigerians are known for, we struggle to get a visa to many embassies including South African which is an African country

I have been to several countries and have found fraudulent and dishonest people everywhere. How are most Nigerians fraudulent? How are they different from other nationalities? Just yesterday i caught my cleaner trying to steal from my bag in another country. He is not black and he is not a Nigerian. On my last trip to a totally different country, my money was stolen. Still in another country money was fraudulently obtained from me. Putting your citizens down via unsubstantiated generalisation with no evidence is disturbing.

I totally disagree with you on this. I obtained my medical visa with an Oakbend budget, and eventually used WHMC (which was almost USD 2,000 higher than the bill I presented at the embassy). And my visa renewal was still refused. This is my bone of contention with the embassy as it makes absolutely no sense!

Ooohhh!!! cheesy...Some people are going to jump on your neck for this bitter truth statement.

If some Nigerians are going to fight back at this statement then why is there even a need to see hundreds of Nigerians desperately trying to have their babies in the US? And when they are denied US visa why are most Nigerians upset about it.

How many people from other countries do we see in desperation trying to give birth in Nigeria by fire by force?

And my visa renewal was still refused. This is my bone of contention with the embassy as it makes absolutely no sense!

Was your visa refused because you paid low amount or some other reasons?

Ooohhh!!! cheesy...Some people are going to jump on your neck for this bitter truth statement.

I definitely expected that, i have been here long enough to know that but i couldn't care less and have never do.
