Dogs are known to be motivated by their eagerness to please their owners. This makes it possible for us to make our dogs do things they would normally not do if left to their devices.

My dog didn't want to eat her food, despite the fact that it was her scheduled eating time and the food was very palatable and irresistible. But I insisted by not letting her leave her food bowl until she ate from it. I held her by the waist in front of her food bowl, she ended up eating it eventually, when it was clear to her that I wanted her to eat it or else she won't leave.

Hahahaha, I'm glad you find it funny and educative. Be warned the lhasa apso breed can be a very frustrating breed, they are independent minded like cats, but very protective dogs. They also hate being forced to do anything, even if it's something they love, they want to decide by themselves to do it, not you forcing them to do it.

Something funny always happen anytime I take my dog out. People always ask me if my dog have eyes, because the hair on her face covers her eyes completely, plus the fact that her facial hair is black, making her eyes virtually invisible. cheesy

Another thing that happens is how girls are usually scared of my dog especially when they are seeing the dog unprepared, as in if I am coming out of a corner suddenly, they start having panic attack, because the dog looks so strange to them.

Someone has once called my dog a goat, because of the amount of hair on its body. A woman even asked me if my dog is wearing cloth, because her furs look so full on her body and like a cloth grin

How intelligent is my dog? tongue

I noticed that anytime I am about to groom my dog, she instinctly knows I'm about to groom her, and she starts running away from me. Staying under the table out of reach from me. angry

She also tries to scare me by growling and acting like she is trying to bite me, anytime I'm doing something she doesn't like, but when she bites, it's never painful, because she knows it's that same hands that feed her. cheesy

We play different games with Beverly, which include

1)Fetch: I throw an object like tennis ball, chew toy, table tennis ball(she breaks it easily), teddy bear, she runs after it eagerly, and usually bring it back to me. Sometime she would just carry the object to the sofa and be looking at me from a distance. She knows she is supposed to bring it back to me, but she doesn't sometimes.

2)Catch me if you can: Beverly will be looking at me on the sofa, I will run towards her with my hands stretched, she would run to the other end of the sofa, I would proceed towards her again, she would run to her former position, ensuring that I don't catch her. She loves this game a lot. Sometimes she would run under the dinning table to where I won't be able to reach her. If I run away from her, then she pursues me. cheesy

3)Tug of war: I use a dog tug with her to tug on(she pulls on it, it's like a piece of rope that is knotted three times) She will bite on the tug and be pulling it from my hand, I will be running with the tug while her teeth is sunk into the tug, she makes this playful growl while she runs with me not releasing the tug at any moment. If she mistakenly release the tug, she will try her best to get her teeth back on it. Even if the tug is up in the air, she will keep jumping up to catch it until she gets it.

4)I will bite you if I can. This time, it's my dog that tries to bite my hand, while I dodge her teeth. I will be placing my hand behind her head, she will be turning her head to try and bite my hand, she will even roll over her back all in an effort to bite me, when she succeed in biting me, it's not painful.

5)I will catch you if I can: I will be running in the house, and she runs after me. As the chase gets intense, she starts growling, and it becomes scary for me, she acts as if she wants to bite me shocked I don't really play this game cos it's scary.

6)Biting my breathe. I will be blowing air on her face, and she will be biting the air. It's always funny how she keeps biting the air I blow on her face. Sometimes she even jumps on my face. Lol.

7)Find it if you can. Sometimes anytime she is begging for food, I make her work for it by throwing the food away from me, so she can go look for it. When she finds it, her reward is the food.

So yesterday I got my dog's bed that I ordered from jumia.

She seemed to like it, but doesn't stay in it for long. Anyway she did something surprising today, she ate her dry dog food without me adding any other thing to it.

So something happened some days ago. A neighbor came knocking on the door. I was inside my room, then I heard Beverly barking in the parlor. I went to the parlor to see whatsup and then I saw my dog barking under the dining table, with someone at the door. The moment Beverly saw me, she rush to the door to continue her barking. That's to show that my presence gives my dog confidence. cheesy

Similarly, anytime I'm at home my dog likes annoying my mum, trying to jump on her. But when I leave the house my dog mellows and becomes very gentle, because I'm not there to defend her. Plus my mum doesn't like her disturbing at all...

For the very first time, Beverly did something today that surprised me, she has never done it before.

Just this morning, after I woke up, Beverly was lying next to my head, with her head on my chest and her body curled next to my neck. Wow, normally Beverly will just be biting my hands and legs whenever I just wake up, now she is being affectionate, it was nice seeing that she is growing fond of me now. grin

I noticed that my dog is now getting matured. She no longer cries anytime we lock her in the room to clean the house. She no longer scratch the front door anytime someone walks out of the house.

I also notice that Beverly is more cooperative with me grooming her if I wake her up and groom her immediately after sleep. I was very shocked at how cooperative she was. She didn't even move or try to bite me, she was just cool. I'm glad with the dog she is becoming.

When life throws me lemon I make Beverly.

Even time something bad happens to me, my dog automatically knows something is wrong and starts playing with me, getting cozy with me and all that.

I no longer stay sad for long, I no longer stay angry for long, nothing makes me feel bad for more than a minute anymore because I know my dog will always be dear to me. I will just get heartattack if anything happens to this dog. I'm scared of how attached I'm becoming to Beverly. grin

yes it isn’t .. it’s only okay if you are playing with the dog at that moment , or you are just still while staring at the dog

Growling is a means of communication in dogs. It's like how a lady eyes you from head to toe when she is displeased with you. It's how dogs let you know they aren't pleased with what you are doing, and if you should take away their ability to growl(which is a warning system for dogs), they will one day snap at you and bite you, because you have stopped them from growling. Growling is a communication and I won't stop it.

That doesn't mean I will stop grooming her whenever she growls, I will simply divert her attention to something else anytime I groom her, that's the solution. Not stopping growling.

That means u agree that dogs will growl at certain situations, so why would u not want growling during grooming? How is grooming different from you starring at her and remaining still?
