My husband n I are both in grade level 10 and it’s a two year visa subject to renewal by d company offering us d job. To get to d apex in carrier will not be really easy for me but my husband is likely to get there considering their agency is not as populated as ours. Am just thinking how possible it wil be to relocate n survive in Canada doing miner jobs. I forgot to mention, someone i know arranging it for us though I stil doubt d authenticity by I hv a level of trust on d person. He told us my children can go with us to have better education. Pls I Ned street advice is it worth it for Us to resign our jobs. My husband n I decided that if d two of us cannot go together then it’s better we don’t go at all so d option of only one person resigning is out of d question.. I don’t really know about Canada accepting unskilled workers can u pls shade more light

Don't fall for that. Companies cannot guarantee you visa renewal. If you're earning peanuts and you pay taxes and rent and groceries, precious little would be left to get your kids good education.

Be very careful and if possible have someone close to you verify both the company offering the job and the agent.

I believe you have nothing to lose if you choose to dump this country for Canada. Both of your combined pay is 260k . You sure need more that for the future of your kids. Above all present it before God to be divinely guided. Best of Luck!

I'm sorry ma'am but I'm just fuming reading this thread especially because you are a lawyer to whom everyone should run for advice. A simple effort to research would have blown this scam apart (in my modest view creating this thread does not qualify as research, you simply transfered the burden to us).

I'm a lawyer, 5 years post call, and I decided to migrate this year and I've carefully researched the process from A to Z and I've gone to work on it. I got all the information I needed right here! And I didn't have to create a thread.

I have said all these because, should you decide to go on with this journey, you will need a lot research and reading and you cannot pass that responsibility to anyone and you shouldn't because its your life and those of your children at stake. So please, research, research, research. There's a ton of information out there on moving to Canada legally.

To your post, I believe you are about to be scammed heavily. Please terminate any further engagements with the agent ASAP. My gut feelings tell me though that this thread was created to see if the agent is correct in his representations. From the comments, you can see that it is a scam.

Next, take about 2 to 5 days to research on what you need to do to get started. Part of that research should include:
1. Using the CRS calculator found here:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

2. Registering and preparing for IELTS:

3. Doing an Educational Credential Assessment.

The good news is that almost everything you need is here on Nairaland.

P. S. I apologise in advance if you feel slighted by my comment. I just expected much more from a lawyer.

Hello MR or Mrs lawyer. What is the simple first definition of research on google? For your info, when you are doing a research, there is a section of it rolled out called ''questionnaires''. research is just a systematic investigation to get fats which may come from inquiries or studying. Her creating a thread here is a very good one for her because she has really been getting very good answers to her research. And who told you she hasn't been reading other stuffs? If you feel too busy to assist her in the research, why not leave others who are happily assisting her. So because she is a lawyer she shouldn't ask questions here? The materials you asked her to go and study were they all written by lawyers? Maybe she should only be looking for lawyers' materials.

This does not sound like a real offer. It seems you are in the process of being scammed. It is highly unlikely that employers in Canada will be looking to hire people from other countries in the manner you have described, for a number of reasons; mainly, because there is an organized immigration program run by the government to bring in qualified workers. If you are a lawyer you should be looking into immigrating as a skilled worker. Please take time to research the process, on cic.gc.ca and on the several threads in the travel section. Hopefully, you have not handed over any money already. Do not allow any agents sell you up the river. You can do the immigration process yourself. Thousands of people from around the world do it themselves every year.
Just to add, as a general rule, asking people to pay money so that foreign employment can be arranged for them is a typical format used by scam artists.

Bro is there any provision for couples that are not skilled but willing to migrate to Canada? Let say the husband is a self employed business man (trader) and wife sell clothes but they have the financial capacity to relocate to Canada. Any advice?

We are not going as visitors I may Ned to ask d agent d type of visa he is getting for us. Once our visa is ready we were asked to pay certain amount of money that will cover our rent for one year. Note this money will only be paid once we hv our visa, also d plan includes getting a job for us in other words d job will b made available for us. Initially we were told we couldn’t go with d kids until after six months we send for them . But when I them they were jus below 5 he said it’s ok for them to come along cos it would hv Ben more difficult if Dey were above 10 years.
Dont take the agents word for it...

Try and get contacts of some Nigerians living in Canada to get a practical overview of things.

You must be street-wise/smart....Emigration and living abroad or hustling is for smart people.

Use agents but also do your due diligence or else you could become cannon fodder for the wolves out there...

DO YOU WANT TO HEAR THE TRUTH THIS IS A SCAM!!!! There is no country that allows unskilled workers to migrate to their country. I live in California it's next door to Canada. When you get to Canada you will face a different problem from what you're used to and you will have to struggle to navigate your way out of it. This is a different terrain, nobody will want to accommodate your entire family because you're undocumented and they don't know when you will be able to get your documents, nobody wants to be stuck with extra burden of catering for your family for years unknown. The truth is that it's always good to travel as a single person then the family can join him/her later when they have fully settle down. Good luck guys.

Hello Madam,

As your learned brethren who once worked in civil service, I had to just say this little piece to you. Just to clarify, Canada does have a Temporary Work Permit program which is for those who plan to work for a finite period i.e those who are non-immigrants . If I am to believe this scheme you are about to get into, I would say if genuine , you are being set up to be a temporary or guest worker. This would present a problem down the line if your actual intention is to relocate with your family (albeit with some exceptions )

Now I have reservations with this whole agency thing as it seems you may be setting up yourself for a major scam down the line. The process of skilled migration is pretty open and straightforward and you can research this easy and cross -check to verify whatever you learn. There is a skilled workers' program everyone knows about and its best you follow that legal immigration route if this is your intention. there are lawyers who I know have migrated from Nigeria to Canada and have actually started their practice. All legal and verifiable.
Please begin your research on available options for legal immigration and verify all details before proceeding. Cheers

.. Are you just being mischievous? How much do lawyers working in most Chambers earn monthly?

My apologies if that came out offensive, treat it otherwise. My bad.
It's actually a mistake on my part comparing the salary in my country to that in Nigeria without considering other economical factors.

Will it be wise to leave our jobs considering Canada has a good education system secondly we also intend schooling when we get there so we can get better work places pls what ur advice on this we are really in a fix what ur opinion for those that have been there
Do not quit and move unless you get a guaranteed job, not promise.
It would have been different if you don't have children.

If you must move, let one of you go first.
There are a lot of skilled Canadian immigrants who now depend on government welfare because
they didn't plan well.

Thanks so much d person arranging it for us gas a company over there already according to him n is planning sending us an invite he told once once our documents are approved we will go for biometrics

My own advise is that you insist to play after the biometrics.

I've not heard of anyone using this kind of path to migrate to Canada.

And I don't want to summarily dismiss it as a scam. If biometrics goes through, it means that your profile is officially in their system.

So after biometrics, and your passport is collected, and officially visa stamped, it might be legit. Always look out for signs

Canada is a good destination to grow kids. You will be better off if you choose to relocate.
Step 1; Do not resign from your present jobs just yet.
Step 2: Try and investigate that the offer is real.
Step 3. Process the papers and plan to take your vacation at the same time with your husband.
Step 4. Travel to Canada and weigh the situation by yourself say 3 weeks. Vacation for Civil servants is up to a month, so its doable.
Step 5. If you feel satisfied tender your pre written designation letters.

I wish you guys the very best.

if you can take my advice dont try it life will be hell in paradise for you.
you dont have job secured and u are totally dependent on an agent one of my frnd was doing same but the agent ran away with money after all stories and grammer he gave to them.
you are government employee here and a lawyer if you can try hard you can have good income here. remember one thing once you earn in dollars you send in dollars it will br hand to mouth for you and i assume you are alteast comfortable here with income and have a house and a family to care. once thr you will be working all time to pay bills.
as a lawyer here you can still make extra income by drafting petition and other stuff lawyers do.

Madam please leave. Canada is the best. I live in Canada. If My husband, myself and my daughter who is a US citizen left US to Canada I can't see the reason why you should be confused. What I don't understand is the visa package. Canada is the only country I've always pray to God to bless because they gave hope and good life to lots of families.

one of d research is y I created dis thread to seek more clarity from those that have experience. We were told that most of d jobs available in Canada are semi skilled jobs and non skilled jobs that does not require having d IELTS certificate am asking without d IELTS exam can one migrate to Canada
Canadian immigration will not give u visa to go to Canada as an unskilled worker. There is simply no program like that. If the scammer eventually succeeds in getting u a visa, you will still be turned back by the entry clearance officer at the border. What I suspect is that the guy may get u a visa for vacation and then arrange for you to work illegally as an unskilled labourer. .My brother if you can't follow the express entry format, better chill here and train your kids. This kind of arrangement is good for someone on the ground in naija without job, skill or hope. Not for an employed and responsible family man.
