say what you want but nigerians have bad habit of abusing everything. If they needed to sell anything, why cant the approach the church? Must you take advantage of everything?

what is wrong is wrong and am sure the church would have told them its prohibited.

Why did not go and sell around aso rock?

Burning their goods is so wrong, I still doubt this report.

While still waiting for more facts to emerge (not aproko stories), I must say that we must have some semblance of order in an around the house of God. Knowing the attitude of Nigerians never to obey constituted authority, I would say this: if they had been warned by the church authorities to stay away from there and they refused to do so, then the church is within its right to do with intruders on their property as they deem fit.

In Winners, there is a laid down procedure. If you want to be a vendor, you have to operate within the walls of the facility and you must be registered so that the church authorities know you and who they are dealing with. I remember a Boko Haram member posing as an ice cream seller was apprehended at one of the church facilities several years back.

It is to avoid these kinds of things that vendors are usually asked to register with the church, pay what they need to pay and get a properly allocated space. But no, you will see people selling on the road, selling on pedestrian bridges, selling under high tension cables....NO!

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! We have to learn to be orderly as a people and do things properly. In other climes, you do not just wake up and because you see a large church with a potential market, you simply pile your goods outside the gate and start selling. No order, no control!

Before you react to this, first out sentiment aside. The church has every right to do whatever it likes on its property. I can only feel a bit concerned if they didn't warn the traders beforehand. However, Remember Jesus didn't warn those traders who turned God's temple into a market place before he flogged them away from the place.

If you put sentiment aside, you will see that we are currently living lawlessly in Nigeria. We have Keke drivers blocking the entrance of a street just because they are looking for passengers. Market women cover half of a busy road causing traffic just cos they want to sell their wares. Danfo buses parking and picking up passengers anywhere as if they don't have bus stops anymore. This illegality has turned our brain upside down that we now frown at measures use to curtail them.

I won't be surprise to see Christians criticize the church for what it did which Jesus Christ also did.
Anybody that listen to you or the likes of thieves parading themselves as pastors aren't only gullible and stvpid but also deadbrain. Jesus chased away those traders selling their wares INSIDE the church and not OUTSIDE.

Also, is burning their goods the solution? These traders are contributed to he growth of that same church yet this is how they are paid back. These are the people we tell not to give useless churches their money but rather help the poor an needy but will curse you and defend their pastors yet the same pastors treat them like trash. Here is an example!!
Re: Sellers Goods At Dunamis, Abuja Burnt by rkennyking(m): 12:36pm On Mar 27, 2019
Funny thing is most churches monetize the congregation. In every way possible they try to make money from the fact that they have large number of members. I can testify to the fact that at redeem if you don't pay the market dues your wares will be sized and confisticated to the Church same thing for winners and all.major church where you have large followership. Now this is my concern, the church is sold to the masses as a solution to problems. Should this solution also create a problem for some people??. If you want to sell in redeem premises during programs you have to pay large sum that you nor sure you going to gain back. I can see some people saying the goods where burnt because the church is not a market but mind you the church is a market now because you can pay to get a stand and sell.your thing. But not everyone can afford this and it goes as much as sellers being arrested and lock up in redeem cells . this is truly pitiable situation

So because you want to seek your goods, you now have to do in front of my gate as if it's a government designated market spot?

The goods were burnt? Isn't that similar to Jesus scattering the wares of those traders at the temple, whether inside or not?

If the church did wrong, take them to court. But if not, don't complain.

Cant the goods be confiscated? instead of putting people in misery?? would that not have been a more humane punishment?

When Jesus scattered the goods did the traders not pick up their wears from the ground and moved along? Did you see Jesus coming with his disciples to burn down the shops in the middle of the night??
If you want to imitate Jesus at least try up to 50% no 00000000.001%

The people failed to heed warning. What's the essence of confisticating the goods when the traders will return if they given back to them?

if ur good where taken and you was meant t to pay a huge penalty to get them back, I'm very sure you won't go back there. There are more than one way to skin a cat. This does not go well with people who are trying to earn a living whom the church suppose to protect, .You seem to 4get this is a church, not some company.

They've paid the penalty already.

Next time no one will near the church to sell wares. Since Lagos has been arresting and chasing away roadside hawkers, have those people stopped Hawking? Stubbornness requires stubborn measures.

Good decision...
Bad methodology.

They could have gotten rid of the sellers in a more humane and cooperative manner, but it never ceases to astonish how many Nigerians appear to think that they can simply set up a ‘market’ in any free space - on road medians, pedestrian bridges, walkways, bus shelters, roundabouts, in front of offices or even people’s homes, etc. They attract all kinds of elements, litter the place and then bitch about the dirty environment.

We have to have that “semblance of order” EVERYWHERE from EVERYONE!
Accordingly, it is similarly irritating when churchgoers block streets and roads during service/programs.

As someone who did not grow up in Nigeria, now I live here the highlighted is the only reason that I sometimes am tempted to feel somewhat sorry for the government. Here in Lagos, it sometimes seems that the government is struggling to build a 21st century city for a population that has a substantial number of people stuck with an 18th century mindset. But then again, perhaps it’s a chicken and egg situation.

Many of you will just hide behind your mobile phones and be typing rubbish. If you have ever been to the Lord's garden, then you will know that those sellers are rendering very essential services. The auditorium is built right on the Expressway, away from residential homes. To pack 100,000 people together in one place and not expect them to have access basic convenience as at when due is highly despicable. These people are just trying to make an honest living within the city.
I for one as a pentecostal Christian will never step foot in the church again due to this wickedness.
And for those shouting order and regulation, even the auditorium has not been reached 100%construction stage. The road to it is not tarred yet. Why is it innocent sellers that should suffer the consequence of this?

To burn down anyone's source of livelihood over trespassing is purely wrong and even though they could have been warned to move, evicting them by following due process of inviting law enforcement would have been the right thing to do. However, we were not told exactly who warned of wanting to burn down the place. One thing I know is that with the way church leaders are politically connected, getting the police to clear out the traders would have been an easy ride which makes me think the church might not be responsible here. More info is needed.
