Onuachu was supposed to be involved in friendlies before the WC but he picked up a knock.

now this is someone who was there, plz do u still remember what was icon's assertions when onuschu's name was thrown around against simmy's enroute Russia?

I am giving u points bereft of preconceptions and u trynna twist facts. from 2017-19, were ighalo, simmy, nacho, Success et al statistically better than onuachu? in forgiveness's voice, yes or no?

Firstly, did I ever discuss anything on Onuachu with you?

Secondly the comment you quoted from Goldfish was made in 2017. So why are you including 2018 and 2019?

Please look for someone else to pick argument with not me.

Bro, agreed but what happened in the run-up to the WC and the WC proper? Why couldn't we simply pass the ball around and create enough chances even with Mikel on the field? Did the magic simply vanish? Why couldn't the players congenial locker room translate to cohesion on the field of play? What simply happened? Why were we disgraced despite the hype, the unprecedented support?

you see this rohr team....they're perfect ĺocal champions they can perfectly win Africa teams but when they face European or south America teams they fumble....
my hope is that they will be playing AFCON with all Africa oppositions.... they've only lost to RSA...so far.
Rohr team flex their muscles on Africa teams easily and pee on their pants when they play non-africa teams....

like I said earlier.... with a good defense back up,having iwobi and Mikel in the midfield will birth not less than 2 goals for the SE in every match...come this AFCON

Oga, I will not blame rohr for not taking Mikel because I have never really been a huge fan if the guy. I feel his creativity is overrated.... Yes i said so.

I'm not saying it because we beat Egypt...remember during the WC friendlies were people blamed Mikel absence for costing us. During the WC proper, Mikel featured and there was no difference. There still was no creativity in the midfield. We lost 2 games because of this despite his presence. So yes, I say again that Mikel is one man who is past his prime and his addition may make no difference until he proves otherwise in a competitive match.

Thanks egbon

The Asaba pitch is still very poor. Those reports during the under 23 game were exaggerrated.

I don't understand. The pitch was better yesterday.

good win for the super eagles. my take aways from yesterday's game

1. Paul Onuachu is the truth! never knew we had this kind of skillful talent. apart from his moment of brilliance for the goal i was just wowed by his hold up play and intelligence. i think we have finally found someone who will help carry the goal scoring burden with ighalo. hope he continues to keep his head low and work hard. just a matter of time before he goes to a bigger club

2. Pitch was still an issue that affected the performances of both teams that said our passing fluidity though improved was still lacking in cut throat penetration. iwobi looked bright on a couple of occasions but the final ball was just short maybe with time and better surfaces that aspect of his game will shine through.

3. wingers were not too effective especially moses simon who failed to deliver a single quality cross considering that we had a big point man wasn't good enough. onyekuru though lively could have done better but i will excuse him since he played on his less preferred wing. abit surprised that rohr didn't ask him and simon to switch wings during the game.

4. we have to find a way to be just as effective when we don't have mikel or iwobi on the pitch in terms of what they bring creative wise. maybe tweaking our system of play to go long or exploit more of our wing play.

5. right back could be a conundrum. shehu though fairly solid defensively is no flying RB while aina as decent as he is going forward is still naive defensively to be trusted 100% with the role. until tyrone gets back to fitness we still need more options. LB looks sorted with jamilu gaining confidence every game. with our ever reliable onyibo wall, omeruo, awaziem/ajayi looking good the CB should be able to cope at the AFCON. good to see Akpeyi have some drama free minutes. ezenwa too was his usual confident sharp self.

6. in terms of playing personnel i would say we are 80% ready for AFCON. Osimhen, isaac success and iheanacho to battle for the final attacking spot to join onuachu and ighalo. chuwkueze and moses simon to battle for the final wingers spot to join musa, kalu and onyekuru.
mikel coming back into the midfield. shehu and aina need competition.

in all decent performance beating a formidable african team good confidence booster heading into crucial preparations for AFCON

side note Egypt is really going to suffer with this their overdependence on salah

You see....I agree with all you said except that part of winning by at least 2 goals every match. AFCON games will be very defensive. And knowing Rohr, he will be contented to take a 1:0 win even of it means UA defensing for the greater part of each game

wetin u think over amunike style?

Amuneke has simply introduced the typical Nigerian style of play into the Tanzanian team: Ie plenty of ball possession with long balls and creative wings play.

We may find it tough if we play against the Tanzanian team I saw beat Uganda 3:0 on Sunday.

South Africa VS Zimbabwe

Zambia VS Congo

Ghana VS Algeria

Cameroon VS Tunisian

Ivory Coast VS Guinea

Congo DR VS Mali

On paper,we got an easy team...but who did this to Guinea...They sent out Senegal...now Cote D Ivoire...a team captained by Kessie of AC Milan...we see a subtle way to eliminate more West African teams angry...overall..the sweetest is that both legs will be played on FIFA window 3rd to 11th but both legs are on 5th to 10th...WE WILL PLAY AWAY FIRST IN KHARTOUM....Ife mebe

The people who follow me on twitter can testify that, after the World Cup, I had recommended giving this Super Eagles team to Samson Siasia and Emmanuel Amuneke to manage. Frankly, Gernot Rohr ain't better than those two if the NFF can give them an equivalent support and freehand.

Rohr's managerial period with super eagles in numbers.
17games played.
3 games lost. ...17.5%
3 games drawn...17.5%
11 games won. .. 65%
.. pls tell me how these stats are bad... Cos some of us here are constantly saying he isnt fit to coach d team...
During his tenure we have qualified for d 2 major tournaments with atleast a game to spare... We missed out on d last 2 afcons... Qualified for d 2014 world cup at d last min... Nd yet some ppl make it sound like we had d best team wen rohr took over...

Before Rohr, we were in shambles. Failed to qualify for 2 AFCONs. Major players retiring due to disagreements with managers.

Rohr has been producing results regardless of the entertainment value. He has fulfilled most of the targets given to him.

Let us allow rohr continue his job... He myt not be a guardiola but he is doing very well considering d talents at his disposal.. (some of us keep reiterating the fact dat we have mostly average players at best)... Nd given d way nff nd nigerian corruption tends to affect team sheet nd player callups... This guy has done fairly well... We cannot complain abt more dan 2 players included per list... As compared to before now wen d list will contain players who's clip u cant even find on youtube ..or even wikipedia... So lets chill.

Rohr's greatest skills is not his tactics but his man management

I saw Balogun putting in flying tackles yesterday and I wondered when last Super Eagles played with such passion and commitment

That's when I see people advocating for Rohr's sack I just hiss and pass
