As much as Nigerian soldiers are known for abusing powers, I've every feelings that there's more to this story. Maybe a statement the man made.

Because I've never in my life seen a soldier forcefully trying to withdraw on another person's turn. They'll always take permission to do so, and I'm sure many haven't seen a soldier intimidate someone in an ATM queue before.
The fact that you haven't witnessed this specific form of intimidation doesn't mean it doesn't happen. An uncle of mine had the balls to POLITELY ask a soldier -(who overtook him at an ATM with every sense of entitlement) to join the queue. Uncle chop slap and was threatened with even more violence. Soldiers do this shît a lot.

Allow the soldier to collect and go. You Nigerian bloody civilians lack respect and special treatment for service personnel of the Armed Forces especially Army. These guys sacrifice everything to keep you safe, then you come and be dragging chance to collect money from ATM with such a fellow who lay down his life to let you have peace. Some soldiers are on duty. They take permission to come to town and withdraw cash so as to give to their family at home and return to duty post. Then you want him to remain standing with you. Also, the security risk of standing unarmed in present day Naija is huge. Though, one single slap is enough instead of faxing the man as if he's a criminal. That's quite too much for the gravity of offence committed.

I was a witness when the incident happened on Friday morning, the message was wrong, the soldier was patient enough, but that guy went too far bad locking his camouflage, the guy that was beaten really deserve what he got, he frustrated the soldier in the name of right, the soldier was not trying to jump queue, he only requested that a policeman on duty be given preference at the ATM point, only for this human right man to insult and lock his camouflage round neck

As long as our talentless comedians will start jokes like "If solider slap you, if mopol slap you", these recruits will continue to feel empowered and see it as an endorsement of their power to brutalise you as a civilian. Nothing irritates me like all those "If army slap you, if mopol slap" jokes. If akpororo runs out of jokes, that's where he quickly jumps to.
This kind of news is the result
I thought I was the only one who saw those foolish jokes distasteful. Very annoying and stupid. When I see people laughing to those rubbish, I always conclude that most Nigeria are so daft.

It is because most nigerians enjoy pains.Their sexual desire is being fueled by pain and beatings/whipping.That is why civilians are being punished and beaten illegally by soldiers. Some people even wish they would be beaten for their pleasure. If all civillians rise up and say enough is enough, this will stop. But instead nigerian civilians take sexual pleasure from being flogged. They will even tell their stories of being beaten by soldiers with joy and laughter.Soldiers know this and they will continue whipping them.Such a thing cannot happen in the US or Europe.

TheGiftedOne:
Abuse of power. Nigerian soldiers would defiantly defy the law by:

1. Owning and driving cars without ever registering them.

2. Those that manage to own/drive registered cars would spray paint everything black or green. Plate numbers inclusive.

3. Ride motor bikes in places okadas are banned.

4. Drive one way and even intimidate you to wait on your own lane.

5. Board buses and cabs without paying.

6. Hit your car and force you to fix damages on theirs.

A commercial bus driver related to us his passengers of how a military van hit him from behind, the soldiers came out to intimidate and forced him to a spare parts market to fix their damages. That day i felt so so sorry for the bus driver.
Instead of them to face the real opponent(Boko boys), they are here showing wickedness. although they shouldn't pay for bus and cab for flexibility of their work.

I have actually. Although the he guy didn't show his ID. He abused everybody on the queue and called us "bloody civilians" . He told us how he went to maduguri and said 1000 can't stand him.

Officers are well trained. The ones I have had contact with but soldiers are just goats

I've seen it. Last December in Umuahia this soldier came with one young girl to the bank, ignored the queue and walked straight to the machine, then told the girl to use the machine once the person using it at the time was done. The soldier did not ask anybody on the queue anything or even look at their faces. It's the girl that tried to apologize even though she still went ahead to jump the queue.

When people on the queue challenged the both of them, the soldier either subtly threatened them or ignored them. No apology or remorse.

This kind of thing absolutely happens.

One thing I've learnt in Nigeria is the people are funny.
People will insult you, when you brush them na brutality.

I went to play football at a public school in Lagos, some touts seized my ball, I took d pain to id myself to the boys o, but one small boy insisted, he held onto my ball and told me point blank "oga even if you be buhari you go still settle", as a gentleman, I just issue him small o, next thing I hear "na because na officer na why he dey beat that boy anyhow"...

Soldiers misbehave at times, but when they get discovered, they get punished.

The girl who punished a civilian for calling her beautiful was a termer 3 nda cadet, she got disenrolled, the two officer cadets caught by ambode brushing aboki at mile 12,they got disenrolled.

One thing with soldiers is that, if you go your way they go their way, but if you wave red flag in front of a bull it will consume u...

Nigerians go know say this person is a trained killer, but they'd still go and provoke such individual. He's not shooting u like customs or police. It's two-fighting, if I try to brush u and u fight like a man, olohun you'd earn my respect. But if you can't defeat the devil, become his friend or stay off his path.

Peace.
