I've lived in the North for awhile. I have also lived briefly in the West and South. I haven't lived, nor ever traveled to the East, but I'm 99.9 percent the stories I hear can't be all that wrong. Apologies to my Igbo friends here. I nicked this off from Twitter, and to be honest, this is what Northern hospitality is, and much more. Come and share yours, and please, no tribalistic comments. Let's keep the thread clean.

The Hausa people are good people, The baddest people who are poisoning their heart are the Fulanis This mentality of the Hausa people makes it possible for the Fulanis to conquer them and rule over them for centuries The Kanuri people(North East) won't tolerate this. This is not about Islam because other Muslims from the South West, North East and Edo state won't do the same. 14 Likes 4 Shares |

The average hausa man is an honest man.... not all though, cause we still have bokoharam and herdsmen, looters and killers amongst every tribe. My story: Was running a bike business way back and had a hausa man as the manager, one bike got stolen and taken to bornu, the hausa manager travelled all the way to bornu to retrive the bike and collect damages from the guarantor on his expense.. despite myself not being hausa. Was surprised as we had written the bike off as bad debt in our books. Hausa man anyday anytime, although it was still another hausa man that stole the bike, but when you find a good one, you have found a good one and only need to work on yourself not cheating a good one. We sold the bike and gave him the proceeds. 7 Likes |

The fact is Hausa people in general are good people until they were conquered by Fulani, which started the indoctrination responsible for the menace you see today amongst them. If you pay attention to the so-called three major tribes in Nigeria, Igbos and Hausa (not Fulani) are actually the most patriotic and believe genuinely in One Nigeria. Go to Enugu, Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi, Rivers, Imo, you will see Hausa people who are doing business there, have lived there for 20 plus years, speaks Igbo fluently. You see the same dynamics with Igbos in the North and both Igbos and Hausas in the West. But the cancer of the three major tribes is afonja. They don't travel out of their region, highly tribalistic, they are scared to leave their region because of their wicked nature; think others think like them, you will never see them in the North, nor in the East in high number. Yet they will sale you snake oil that they believe in one Nigeria. 22 Likes 5 Shares |

No doubt about how magnanimous they're... I had Fura de Nunù in full supply during my service year just because I returned a coke bottle to the seller. He introduce me to other sellers and that was how the supplies of Fura and Kunù Hayà kept flowing in my fridge. 5 Likes 1 Share |

It is this openness and friendly disposition of the Hausa that caused the Fulani to penetrate too deep into them. Those that know history know that the first Fulaninin Nigeria were refugees from Mali and the Hausa king then gave them land and told them to take the land free of charge since the Fulani have no home. This is life history mind you. The Fulani betrayed that king and called the other from other countries to take over Hausa land. Under Fulani control they have become more brutal and heartless. 4 Likes 1 Share |

That one join. But the bad eggs just like everyother groups, abounds ! I had to bail out a random lady whom abokee cart pusher made away with her goods in kingsquare benin when i was a sales rep there many years ago. I sensed the woman was hypertensive the way she was just trembling from the loss of her goods. From the money i so far collected,i gave her 20k to make up for part of her losses... What about those that wont hesitate to put your head on a spike at the slightest cartoon protests,.. 5 Likes |

Some people are saying Fulani are the problem or Kanuri won't take this that. I wonder how they differentiate between the tribes. Only when you find 100% Fulani (which mostly live in the bush rearing cows) or 100% Kanuri blood, then you never can tell the person that treated you well is Hausa or not. The fact he speaks hausa doesn't necessarily means he is Hausa and not Fulani or Kanuri. Good has bless the Hausa language. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Olu20090:You are consoling yourself , the Hausa people in the East are not big investors most if them do menial jobs some are not Nigerian. Some are from Niger. Most big time investors and rich hausas don't invest in East a lot before it's not entirely secured thing unlike lgbo who like to invest in other peoples land due to looking for money by all means mentality and forget about their homes. 3 Likes |

kayroc:What is your problem with Fulani coming and joined Hausa? Hausa s have accepted fulani and the culture over the years has been integrated thanks to Islam. Most Hausa homes today have fulani link one way or the other and it has been accepted. But you people from the south keep making this as an issue. What is your problem? I think it will be better if you also focus on how to integrate Yoruba with Igbo so that you have a stronger South instead of complaining about Fulani conquer Hausa. The major reason why fulani conquer Hausa was because most of the Sultanate invaders had the backing of Othman empire in Turkey. Most emirates and Emirs in norther Nigeria are extension of the Powerful Othman kingdom. Go and read about Othman it stretched across Europe middle East, north Africa, west Africa, East Africa etc. |

loveth360:Am not a Yoruba if you are trying to attack Yoruba it's your business , what am trying to explain is Igbo due to making money tend to forget their home and invest heavily on other peoples land. Besides most people are not comfortable investing heavily in Igbo Land because it can be easily hijacked because anything money attracts lots of attention in the East. I guess nature designed it that way or it was acquired over the years this money money, Ego Ego thing and culture. 1 Like |

They are a special breed in all endeavors. My BDC is hausa, i last saw Moh'd more than 7years ago but just a call to him and he will deposit dollars into my bank account (sometimes I pay him naira first, sometimes he pays the forex first). Rare to hear of situations where any hausa maiguard connived with robbers to attack his place of work. Most troubling to me is whenever I buy oranges, the hausa man will cut it open and look if okay, then gives you, if bad, he keeps to himself; meanwhile whenever I buy from my tribe women, they tell me, they didn't grow it and she bought it like that and must sell it like that too. The hausa man will help his competitor sell his goods without qualms. if he notice the buyer is interested in buying from the other seller. I once wanted to get a cold drink and the hausa man I parked with didn't have the chilled one I wanted, he ran to his neighbor to get me another if it suited me, I didn't want both but I bought one due to his 'marketing & customer' zeal. 7 Likes 1 Share |
