I know our military abuse their power some times, but the guy was wrong to have told to soldier that he was the one on the line.........whenever you see a uniform personality and medical practitioneers........soldier,police,nscdc, doctors, nurses etc.....and u can recognised them, u should give them a chance to do whatever they want to do because of their work ethics!

The guy was wrong, uniform personalities are to be given chance to do whatever they want to do in that kind of situation........eg. Doctor, nurse, police, soldier, nscdc, etc.........they might be on work anytime.

You are crazy, you don't fix damages, you pay for damages!

Damages is like a legal penalty you pay for physical destructuon or emotional stress you cause an aggrieved party. It is not the aggregation of destruction itself. Na English language dey hard u like this so?

Dictionary Definition for easy comprehension

damages, Law . the estimated money equivalent for detriment or injury sustained.
Often damages. Informal . cost; expense; charge:
What are the damages for the lubrication job on my car?

So how do you fix cost? When you say fix damages?

ARE U INSANE?

No.

You can't decry soldiers abusing their power and in the same sentence criticize a man for standing up to soldiers misusing their powers. That is double speak.

People gladly and willingly give way to doctors and nurses when they need to get stuff done. It is a labour of love, so to speak. And why not? Doctors and nurses don't go round flogging people with their stethoscopes. They don't go round stabbing anyone with syringes. No sir. These doctors and nurses are far from perfect but their contribution to society is not in doubt. Can the same be said about Nigerian military? undecided

It is because most nigerians enjoy pains.Their sexual desire is being fueled by pain and beatings/whipping.That is why civilians are being punished and beaten illegally by soldiers. Some people even wish they would be beaten for their pleasure. If all civillians rise up and say enough is enough, this will stop. But instead nigerian civilians take sexual pleasure from being flogged. They will even tell their stories of being beaten by soldiers with joy and laughter.Soldiers know this and they will continue whipping them.Such a thing cannot happen in the US or Europe.
^^
You may be on to something.

I said on here years ago that there is a deeply troubling pyschosexual component to military brutality in Nigeria - both for the victims and the aggressors. It is very disturbing how the victims - sometimes grown men with children undecided - often recount with glee their humiliation by functionally illiterate soldiers who wouldn't be able to cut it professionally anywhere else.

S and M games. undecided

Modified: It is even more shameful that the fellow beaten up by the so called "soldier" is physically disabled. He has some kind of palsy - evident in how his right hand hangs. undecided

The army guy cant report the damage in the barrack lest he finds himself in the guard room with punishment and doesn't have the money to fix the van some resort to getting the other to do the fixing for him.... Inside him he is mortslly afraid of being found out

TheGiftedOne:
Abuse of power. Nigerian soldiers would defiantly defy the law by:

1. Owning and driving cars without ever registering them.

2. Those that manage to own/drive registered cars would spray paint everything black or green. Plate numbers inclusive.

3. Ride motor bikes in places okadas are banned.

4. Drive one way and even intimidate you to wait on your own lane.

5. Board buses and cabs without paying.

6. Hit your car and force you to fix damages on theirs.

A commercial bus driver related to us his passengers of how a military van hit him from behind, the soldiers came out to intimidate and forced him to a spare parts market to fix their damages. That day i felt so so sorry for the bus driver.

As long as our talentless comedians will start jokes like "If solider slap you, if mopol slap you", these recruits will continue to feel empowered and see it as an endorsement of their power to brutalise you as a civilian. Nothing irritates me like all those "If army slap you, if mopol slap" jokes. If akpororo runs out of jokes, that's where he quickly jumps to.
This kind of news is the result

As much as Nigerian soldiers are known for abusing powers, I've every feelings that there's more to this story. Maybe a statement the man made.

Because I've never in my life seen a soldier forcefully trying to withdraw on another person's turn. They'll always take permission to do so, and I'm sure many haven't seen a soldier intimidate someone in an ATM queue before.
You have not seen, doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I served in an army barrack in Ilorin, when they want to jump queue, they seek permission. But I places like Lagos where you can't tell which barrack they belong to and it's difficult to get them reported, they do the unspeakable. One can regret his actions for telling an officer to maintain a queue

Not everyone has a good health to stand for several minutes. Being on the queue doesn't necessarily mean being on standing for hours, it is just for you to know when it your turn with other attesting to your claim
Yes, I agree that for health reasons some might not be able to stand on the queue, but I've found out that with my country people that is often not the case. I've seen on many occasions where people stand away from the queue (not sit if sickly, but stand) fiddling with their phone or gisting with a friend. It's like they feel too big to join stay on the queue. There have also been instances when people even reserve spots on different queues at an ATM gallery waiting to see which one will get to their "turn" first. This is blatant bad behaviour.

Then he should have asked politely, mind you no body forced them to become a soldier and we all are contributing our quoter to ensure the peace of Nigeria one way or the other, their service to the nation shouldn't be a yardstick to maltreat the people they swore an oath to protect. If the army is becoming too much of a trauma they can always quit.
You have a point.

Sacrifice everything? Did I force anyone to join the army? Pls stop saying this nonsense.

For me, as long as you wear a uniform, I'll give you the chance to do what you want because I believe you're on duty, but telling me that one man is sacrificing his life because of me is bullsh1t talk, I never force anyone to join the army, a lot of them join because of government failure to provide jobs, some join because they want to be intimidating people not all join the force because they love this country, so spare me the sacrifice sh1t talk.
Nice add you have. I was really joking, and you didn't read my comment to the end. Agreed that a lot join due to joblessness and intent to intimidate but what of those who join genuinely? And will you use the shortcomings of some people to punish others who are innocent? Anyways, remove sh1t from your vocab, doesn't make you sound smart.

Remove that sh1t talk from your vocab, it doesn't make you sound intelligent. You have a nice add until sh1t started appearing from your anus/mouth. Agreed, some soldiers join the army to intimidate while others due to joblessness but what of those who join genuinely? You forget them in your sh1t comment.
In the USA, wives and family members of service men in the armed forces are treated with preference due to the commitment and sacrifice. If you're told to go confront Book Harm today, I know you'll melt like watery sh1t but you're here trying to use the shortcoming of some bad soldiers to punish all soldiers. How many soldiers came to collect the money at that moment that will make him not just grant him that simple consideration?

Oga if this country is at war, I'll defend myself till death, I'll pick up guns and fight.

After all during the Nigerian civil war, it was not only the Army that fight, people were quickly recruited to fight but that's by the way.

Well that's USA where soldiers respect the rights of civilians, they don't go about putting their frustration on civilians in the street.

Just take a look at what happend in Rivers state during the election, soldiers shooting in the street and shouting come out, we all saw pictures of soldiers carting away ballot boxes, we saw the way they were intimidating civilians, do USA soldiers behave that way to their citizens?
How do you expect me to respect that kind of soldier?
Well I don't expect you to understand when you have a dull brain, you're just too dump to understand that these soldiers are only protecting the rich and not the poor.

If they do, someone like Amaechi will not be going around with soldiers to intimidate civilians.

They are all the same, someone with influence whether in the government or not can just order them or even pay them one small money and you will see the way they will behave to the civilian you claim they are protecting.

Oga no let me vex ooo, let this be the last time you will quote me.
