@ tweetums. Thanks for pouring cool water on my head. But on a serious note, I will never handover or do any transaction in any bank without collecting document or something to show for the said transaction. I may close my eyes with minor cash, if only it's free cash derive from seamless source like politics, otherwise I'll give it closed marking.

Please I really need advice from you guys here. My sister went and fixed 1.5m with eco today. When I ask her of document for the transaction, she says no document was given to her, that the actual person that was supposed to handle the job wasn't around and she was asked to come back next week.
I'm just surprise. If the actual person wasn't on sit to start and finish the job, while could someone else collect the cash and ask her to come back next week without giving her any evidence of transaction?
I'm just being curious because our system is so porous and full of dubious personel.

She paid N1.5m in cash? Holds no savings or current account with the bank? Some people sef

She holds savings account with them and I believe it was transferred because the cash was already in her account.

My understanding is that money should have been paid into an account, whether yours with the bank or that of the bank. You don't give cash to anyone in the bank, you pay to the cashier and get a teller.

Modified.
If the cash was already in her account, then you have nothing to worry about.

Hi House,

I bided for PMA at GTB at the rates of 12.5% for 182 days and the bid was unsuccessful despite the fact that same was below the official rate of 12.6.released by CBN.

Could you please suggest the way forward as I am ready to take it up with the Bank.

Thanks in anticipation of your swift response.

Obviously Gtb tried to make money off you by bidding higher than you told them and it backfired on them.

It is their fault since you stated your bid rate.

I will advice you go to their office with a SAN, police, army, sango, amadioha.

The amount involved is very important. If the amount is below 50m, you re only bidding via the bank's position in the PMA.

You can only bid with your rate if and only if your principal was 50m and above.

It does not make sense to me when you tell folks to close their accounts with a bank because of a particular experience you had with a particular branch. I have been with GTB (Ikenegbu Owerri branch) for over a decade and it’s been a wonderful experience. At Gtb, I have 3 account officers with their phone numbers and email addresses listed on my online banking platform. I have unhindered access to all of them. They respond to emails, phone calls, text messages and Whatsapp message/calls. I also bank with First bank and it’s been an awful experience when dealing with my account officer over there. The issues I have had with my account officer at FBN does not mean that I close my accounts. All I did was to request that my account officer be changed.

Bro if you close your account whenever you have issues with a particular branch, one day you may end up not having any bank account in Nigeria. Demand that your account officer be changed if she/he is not reliable. You do this by sending complaint email to their headquarters. Whenever I have any issue with my branch, I don’t complain to my branch. I send emails to the contact center copying the bank’s complaint unit and my branch, and within 24 hours that issue is resolved. But in the event that the issue is not resolved in 14 days, send an email to Consumer Protection Department
of the CBN at cpd@cbn.gov.ng. Make sure you copy your bank on this email. From my experience, it takes less than 24 hrs to have issues fixed when you complain to CBN.

I hope this helps folks having issues with their banks.

Well spoken with maturity. We cannot always generalize banks to be incompetent because of bad experiences with a certain branch or account officer.

I was taught Simple Interest in primary school. I was also taught the same Simple Interest in secondary school. I was also taught the same Simple Interest in higher institution.

I want to believe that anybody that can login into Nairaland to read posts and make comments went to primary school. This means that i was not expecting this way you are looking at it. Moreover, i have gone through several Entrance Examinations past questions and Simple Interest is always a constant question.

Anyway, let me give you a Simple Interest assignment.

Que: Find the Simple Interest on N1,000,000 for 6months at 12%. (Show all workings. You are free to take it home and solve or give it to primary school or secondary school students as assignment). grin cheesy

Just in case you have forgotten the formula, it is:

I = PTR/100

where:

I = Interest
P = Principal
T = Time(Tenor) in years
R = Rate

You must have invested a huge sum of money for you have paid up to 10k as VAT. It always depends on the amount you are investing, about 1% of total invested amount.

I didn't say I closed my bank account. I said I left them with regards to investment in treasury bill to another bank, Stanbic Ibtc.
I wouldn't let one useless account officer frustrate my investment plans.
I actually wrote to him (He hardly responds to emails despite my repeated warnings) and copied three other persons in the branch and GTBank complaints centre. To my uttermost surprise none of them replied my email. What gives you the impression that that is not how they are in other branches?
