[b]DECISION TO TRAVEL:

Surprisingly, as informative as I thought I was, I never heard about the express entry until March 2018. I just returned from the US after having my last baby and I was reluctant to return to work after maternity leave. Spoke to hubby about our future plans, particularly about our 1st daughter who was born in Nig, unlike the other 2. I then stumbled on this thread. NL had always been my go-to for info on travelling, my birthing trips to the US were successful partly thru 1st hand info on NL, I never used an agent for my trips. So when I saw that we can enter Canada legally without going to overstay in US on our B1/B2 visa as suggested to us by some folks, I started digging in. Coincidentally a friend turned Sis who I met on my 1st birthing trip to US, was about leaving for Canada and needed help with booking their AirBnB apartment with my dollar card. As if I needed a sign from God, that is how we started the journey o.

In short, I heard about Express entry for the 1st time in March 2018 and I saw that we were eligible.

IELTS:
With the CRS tool, we realized that hubby did not need to take the test. So I registered in April for the May 12th exam MOD IDP. I was still on maternity leave, so I had time to prepare, about 6 weeks for the exam.
As I had earlier posted, I used Baron for reading and writing. Also watched ieltsliz online for reading tips and writing. E2 Language with jay for speaking and writing. Listening was more on ieltsessential website and Baron. So IELTS result - LRWS - 8.5/9/7/8.5. First and only attempt and I am soo grateful for the tips I got on this forum. @smslive2, sent me the link to the 1st set of IELTS materials I got, thank you sir.

Some will recall the 12th May 2018 test conducted by MOD at Ogudu, it was a “bad day devil drink water”. My experience on the test day with MOD at its Lagos mainland centre was terrible but it ended in praise.

ECA:
Hubby and I are both lawyers and both have Masters from the same schools, so we resorted to WES. Applied with WES early April 2018 and got my ECA report – 11 June 2018, Hubby – 21 June 2018.
Little snag with hubby, WES in the process of evaluation requested for IJMB transcripts. We had to remove hubby's LLB from evaluation due to the incomplete transcript issue from Unilorin because he got admission with IJMB into 200 level and I didn't see any headway with getting IJMB transcripts. Thanks @fyorgn, for your response then.

POOL/ITA:
We created a profile on 22 June 2018 and got ITA 25 June 2018 with CRS at 451.

POF:
Gift Deed for 100% of POF deposited to my account 2 days before submission (AOR) by hubby. I also submitted letter from pension PFA and Pension statement. The pension was additional, as the gift deed alone covered the POF for family of 5. In submitting POF, I did a LOE with a table analyzing the attached documents and the page numbers. Attached documents were gift deed, transfer slip, bank statement, reference letter from PFA, Pension statement, reference letter and non-indebtedness letter from bank and screenshot of exchange rate from xe.com.

3 months post-AOR, I moved funds to T.bills and raised a CSE, uploading the evidence of POF and a LOE stating that I had moved my POF to t.bills but that it was still accessible. The initial 3months, was rolled over for another 3 months, thanks to the silence from AVO.

JOB REFERENCE:
I have worked with the same organization from 2013 to date, so I got just 1 letter and it was pretty easy. My office has a standard letter for Canada (it appears they have written for quite a few of us, lol). I attached 6 months payslip.

Hubby also submitted 2 reference letters, 1 from his previous employer and 1 from his current employer. He runs his own firm but got a Partner in his firm to write the reference letter.

MEDICALS:
Medicals done at Children’s practice. Nothing eventful, but I had to book ahead – about 3 weeks away.

PCC:
Obtained at Alagbon, 8k for both of us, cant recall the Inspector but not popular Moshood. we were done within 30 minutes.

POST AOR: The real gist grin
I joined like 3 groups for July AOR, one had a lot of Indians. When Pple started getting PPR all around and nothing was happening, I raised a CSE on the status of my application in Oct and I got to know that my file was at Accra, that day I cried. I was sad and depressed. I left all Canada-related whatsapp groups except the one for lawyers. For a long time I didn’t want to join the AVO group, when I eventually joined in Nov 2018, the stories were gloomy, no one had heard from AVO in months. I just knew it that village people were at work, lol.

Surprisingly, the AVO whatsapp group that I didn’t want to join became a beam of light to me. Talk of men and women of faith, I met them all, sharing hope. We were all told that Accra works only between Jan – March, so we were all hopeful for 2019 1st quarter.

Jan 2019 came and we were all hopeful, emails started trickling in, some interview, some ADR, then PPR small small, lol, like 2 or 3 per week or so. Jan ended and just less than 10% of the group had gotten PPR or interview dates. Feb came and we got some again then ADR rained in late Feb for quite a lot of us, you will hear ‘famous 5’ ADR.

I also got ADR on 25 Feb 2019 and I jumped for joy, one will think that we had gotten PPR. But in AVO, any news is good news for us and one person’s PPR or ADR is for us all to rejoice about. The following weekend, we went to retake our passport at Studio 24, thinking that PPR will come shortly after.

Lo and behold, March ended and it was complete silence from AVO.

I mailed Ralph in early Feb 2019 and he said Eligibility, criminality and security checks have not been initiated and that they cannot be expedited and timelines are not available. I just resorted to God. I read this thread daily and when I see PPR posts and I look at their timelines, I say a silent prayer to God to remember me and not put me to shame, Jehovah answered my prayers.

Back to the AVO whatsapp group, we had prayer and praise sessions via conference call, and I must confess, I felt lighter after those sessions with assurances that God had not forgotten or forsaken us at AVO.

On 29 March 2019, I requested for another GCMS notes, when Ralph refused to reply me again. Meanwhile folks on the group were getting updates from Ralph such as Eligibility passed, criminality and security not yet started etc. I raised another CSE on 30 March 2019 and got a response on 2 April 2019 that my eligibility was under review. Ralph later replied on 3 April 2019 that I should contact him in May 2019, meaning that He wont provide any update on my file until 3 months after the last update he sent to me. I just resorted to my faith – He will never leave me nor forsake me.

Did i mention that my 1st GCMS note was all good, no cause for alarm, and yet I was sent to AVO, not because my application had K leg but because AVO is also a VO.........

PPR:
I do check my profile anytime there is an update on the group. No profile update, no ghost update nothing. Then folks started posting PPR on the group at about 10 am or so today again, same as yesterday, we got about 4 PPR. I was not at work, been travelling lately and wanted to stay indoors today. Later decided to go to the Cinema with my 1st daughter, since she was also at home. When the 4th person announced PPR on the group today, I said a silent prayer again that God should remember me. I was not concentrating on the movie because it was cartoon.
Brethren, I immediately got an email to check my profile. Tears started dropping from my eyes, thank God the Cinema hall was dark. I opened my profile on my phone to see a request letter, thinking it was another ADR, I downloaded to see the PPR. Praise the Lordddddddddddddddddd.
After 8 months and 8 days, it has ended in praise.

I want to thank everyone for the selfless contributions to the thread. The information on this thread is massive, even though I joined in maybe part 3 or 4 not sure anymore.

Did I say that we didn’t finish the movie, lol. My daughter couldn’t understand the emergency that made mummy run like that.

This is so amazing...

Congratulations!!!

Please ohhh, how do I join the WhatsApp group...my AOR was in August 2018

You will be fine. I will be reviewing your writing samples, until your next IELTS. I promise you; you will definitely improve in writing if I coach you. My scrutinization of essays are very thorough, I must warn, making most IELTS takers feel like they are very bad. But with time, they get to realise that they were actually bad, and the IELTS examiners just did their job. Hopefully, you will pass your next attempt. Even before your next exam, you would have noticed how improved you are in writing, and you will be glad you met me. I have seen your whatsapp message. We can start something tomorrow, if you are set.

Boss man, is there any general advice you can give to all struggling with writing? I feel that you having to review everyone's essays might become overwhelming.

DECISION TO TRAVEL:
We decided after our marriage in late 2017 that we wanted to take this "migrating out of the country" seriously. We had earlier tried study route but really didn't work out, so we decided to try PR route. I did the first Ielts with Australia PR in mind but as God will have it I met a friend at the centre who introduced me to Nairaland and told me the Canada PR route is faster and easier.

IELTS:
I had already done academic ielts like twice so I was not totally new to ielts. Practised with Liz ielts material online and bought British Council practise book. After the first attempt I focused on writing and the listening for the second attempt.

ECA:
ASUU strike of 2017/2018 really delayed us but we were lucky with Wes and a contact in our school that made it fast.

POF:
Personal saving 60% Gift Deed 40% of POF deposited to my account 2weeks before submission (AOR) from my dad. I also submitted wify bank statement to serve as a buffer. In submitting POF, I did a LOE with a table analyzing the attached documents which were notarized gift deed, transfer slip, bank statement and screenshot of exchange rate from xe.com.
Fast-forward to Jan 2019, I transferred a bulk of about half of POF to Wify's account and she transferred it back the next day we got ADR mail. Guess it didn't raise any flag though as we added a well detailed LOE for it.

JOB REFERENCE:
Luckily, I have worked with the same company from 2013 to date, so I got reference letter in CIC format.

MEDICALS:
Medicals done at Children’s practice.

After AOR: When I got the Job mail on 4th Sept I literally told wify to " fasten your seat belt" its going to be a bumpy ride. I thought our file has been transferred to LVO as that was the prevailing pattern then. So we were not expecting update until about 5-6months. Her Passport was already less than 6months by Jan. 2019, immediately we decided to renew the passport and it was uploaded on 4th Jan 2019. I got an acknowledgement mail stating our file was in Accra and the passport updated.

I was shocked! Shocked at the fact that our file was in the dreaded AVO as a lot of plans were going on, thinking we could move in January hopefully. But the wait continued. When our file was exactly 6months, I mailed AVO and Ralph but no reply. Also, I called the phone lines but nothing concrete came out. I then raise CSE on 18th Feb to AVO and surprisingly ADR came 3days later. We submitted then the wait continued.........

PPR:
Randomly I checked my profile as usual and suddenly on 3rd April and noticed status has changed to "Profile updated", then moved to Ip2. At around 11am the next day, 4th April, I saw a mail and Lo and behold it was the Golden PPR mail after 8 months and 8 days. Finally It ended in Praise.

I am indeed grateful to this thread and everyone for the contribution and advice. This thread supplied me with all the information i used.

I think it can fly. It all depends on how you back it all up.

xtosync:

Yeah. Thanks guys for the assistance. 2282 kinda fits into my early day running the biz (2008 - 2012). More recently (2013 - date) 0651 or 0621 or 1211 fits somehow into my current status. I am still undecided yet.

I don't know if it is right using two NOC codes on a self employment.

2. I believe so. I filled in my academic qualifications (including the ones I did not do ECA for) pre-ITA.

3. What is applicable to is also applicable to your spouse.

Adunnee:
Hi Seniors, I have a few questions- (Post ITA, filling out forms):

1. If one of my parents had a child out of wedlock, that makes the child my half sibling right? How about if my parent was not married to the child's parent, does that make the child's parent my step parent?
2. Do I need to fill in my academic and professional certificates that I did not do ECA for, in the education history?
3. If the answers to the questions in number (1) are "yes", does this apply to my spouse too?

Hi, So I don't have payslip for where i currently work and i know uploading it is optional. But i was thinking of highlighting my salary deposits on my bank statement but the bank statement doesn't show the name of my company. It's either deposited as "pay" or "April" or "March salary". I guess i shohdn't just bother including it then. What do you advice?

I wish I could, but any general advice will not do much good. Every person’s writing inadequacies are unique, and each person needs a personal tutor to groom them, by the tutor reviewing their writing samples. However, you need to be sure your tutor is good in writing.

I have been a silent reader on this thread and I have read most things here.
But my question is as follow. After evaluating my bsc do I also need to evaluate my waec too, again I have one time where I worked 6 months twice with the same job role,, can that serve as 1 year work experience as there was a break in-between.
Please I would need a reply
Thanks in advance

ANYBODY, EVERYBODY

Before you start writing at all, plan/think on paper.
Write out your points for each side and note which you are better equipped to support or be against.

Now the essay;

Introduction:
Your intro needn't be long but must be captivating. What you are trying to achieve is get the attention of the marker.
If you can get the marker's interest at this point, you are most likely to get a good grade.
Here's how I think you could do that. However precise your intro is make an opinion. Let the marker know which side of the argument you are. Particularly for essays that ask you to speak for or against.

Paragraphs:
Each paragraph must carry a view point. A good number of paragraphs shud suffice to argue your points. I wouldn't go more than 3-4 though.

Use Connectives:
These are words that help link your thoughts. E.g However, yet, on the other hand, therefore, furthermore, although etc. When you use these words, you help the marker focus on your main ideas. Although, connectives like first, second are too basic. I wouldn't use them.

Share a view on the other side:
This I learnt while preparing for Toefl.
When you are done arguing your points in about 3 paragraphs. Let your 4th paragraph say a few thing about the other side of the argument. Say you are writing about early marriage.
Let's assume you are arguing for, you can also say something like
On the other hand, when people marry late they tend to be ready and are better mature to handle issues when they arise. This however is not enough point to say marriage at old age is better
But at this point remember that isn't ur position and also counter it in a way.
The reason you have to counter it immediate is so you let the marker know your view point is better.

Conclusion:
Your conclusion should summarise your paragraphs.
Sometimes a single word that encapsulates your thought is enough for summary.

U only need to evaluate WAEC if u are using WES for ECA, others do not require WAEC.

Was the experience in the same organization? If it was, it can pass for a year experience, your reference letter will only indicate the the period u worked.
My opinion though, let the seniors respond.

Yakay:

you can evaluate only your OND and HND, that will give you 2 or more certificates, HND alone is even fine but i guess they will ask for the OND,so its better to include it at once.

You are to select 2 or more certificates not professional/masters

for the mistake in your DOB, you said the one in your WAEC result is wrong, which document(s) have the right DOB? and what is the mistake is it with the year or month or day?

Thanks for your response! Does that mean the PGD is not useful in this pursuit.
I'm combining 2 results, one has no date of birth (they haven't started adding it then) while the other has wrong day, month, and year.

As for the job, if it falls in NOC A,B and 0 and fulfils the requirement in terms of working hours, then it's one year experience.
I don't think WAEC follow EE, hence, it's not needed

Good day guys
I hope you will respond to my questions.
God bless everybody on this thread.

You have all it takes to ace IELTS...why not give it a quick retry as it's 'hot' and give it a remark if you have the means. Remark is usually 6 weeks though

The writing part2 Topic was about FASTFOOD and its effect on lifestyle and diet. However, I was writing with the thought of fastfood shops (mr biggs, chicken republic, etc) THESE ARE NOT FASTFOOD oo. It was after the test that I realized that fastfood is actually the food itself and it can be prepared anywhere (even at home lipsrsealed).
I wrote @least 280 words.

Do I go for a remark? (I will toss a coin)

How long does EOR take? (I dunno)

Do I need help in writing? (yes I do) cry cry

I would really appreciate if you could help with this enquiry. Please who would you advise should be the primary applicant based on the below profile:

Wifey - 27 years, just commenced her Residency training (She is a Dentist), has about 3 years work experience considering her house job, NYSC, and residency training.

Husband - 33 years, B Sc and ICAN qualifications, 7 years post NYSC experience.

I would greatly appreciate your opinion on this.

The wife should be the PA. She has age advantage, and her profession is evaluated as a professional degree by WES. If she scored the minimum of 8777 in IELTS, has 3 years work experience, her CRS score should be around 473. The hubby can still take IELTS as he'll be needing it future, and it'll also increase their score further.
