Murtala and Taiwo, the buthers of Asaba. Karma paid both men back almost 10 years later when Dimka promptly dispatched both men on the same day to Hell where they belong

They reaped what they sowed. Their own man gunned them down when they thought they were safe

What makes Ibo is not state line. Its cultural homogeneity. Ibo is Ibo. Ibos that settled in Rivers like Jaja or in Delta like Nzeogwu are still Ibos.

If Nzeogwu is not Ibo how is Ngozi Iwealla then Ibo, both from Delta State?

Western Nigeria was in a state of civil war. Awo vs Akintola war (operation wetie) is the genesis of Nigeria's first coup
operation wetie was between two men of the same tribal group,so that doesn't say, ezeagwu should go and murder other tribe in govt.
Had it been the murdered politicians were Igbo extraction, their wouldn't be tension built-up all over the country then.

That was the genesis of hatred.

How could it be about two men? It was a constitutional crisis. Thousands of people were burnt alive, houses too being burnt down. There was a breakdown of law and order and the FG had to send in soldiers like it is doing in Boko Haram areas today.

The FG of that time was colluding with the soldiers to oppress you people and rigged elections in the Western Region in favour of Akintola who was their man. There was tension in the country and people began to cry for intervention. That led men like Nzeogwu and Ademoyega to start planning the coup.

Stop being hypocritical. If it were Igbo man was the Head of state when Abiola was killed, you would still be calling Igbos like you are doing in the case of Balewa.

Abiola won the 1993 Presidential election and was jailed and subsequently killed by northerners but you have never blamed anyone because you are scared of the north.

Let us discuss why the killers of Abiola and his wife were protected even till now. It is a shame that yorubas of which i am one can swallow anything thrown at them by the northerners

u are not a Yoruba. so shut ur rotten mouth.

Correction. There was no battle at Niger Bridge the battle was Onitsha waterside. Achuzia blew up the bridge to slow the advance of the Nigerian forces. Murtala then sent thousands of soldiers across to Onitsha where they started to loot and destroy like they had done in Asaba. Biafran soldiers rallied and totally massacred the Federal forces. Some managed to swim back to Asaba to tell what happened.

Murtala the butcher of asaba, high on drugs and overconfident after his babalawo assured him he would win, sent wave after wave of men in boats across to Onitsha but they were massacred also.

Same way he was ambushed at Abagana whr ogbunigwe bomb was used that destroyed 100 lorries behind it devastating the entire convoy..
Abagana..abagana..d abagana ambush will be d greaTest ambush of d civil war

That’s to tell you that he massacre of over 60,000 igbo civilians all over the north was premeditated.

Other coups and assasination happened after that but no tribe was massacred.

They were envious of igbos and looking for the right excuse to do what they did.

Today they are looking for another excuse but unfortunately for them a character like Nnamdi Kanu arouse.

If 1966 massacre happens again, that will be the fastest route to Biafra. This time, the international community will see it happen live.
You killed northern leaders and they revenged but you are distorting facts that they were envious.

This bridge was commissioned by the then Prime Minister late Alhaji Tafawa Balewa and opened for traffic in December 1965... barely 15 days after, The same Balewa was assassinated by the people he commissioned the bridge for.

Two years later, the same people destroyed what was built for them.

Now what's your point?, Did they just wake up one morning and destroy the bridge or assassinate Balewa.

At this time of your life you shouldn't joke with every thing which I believe is what you intended on doing because that War is beyond what you imagine.

True be told, Igbos would have been better off if they had won the war, Argue with your ancestors.

With people like you still existing, I WONDER HOW AND IF THE seeds of TRIBALISM and ETHNIC HYPOCRISY can be effectively weeded out. A word of advice for you and your cohorts, look beyond your ETHNIC / RELIGIOUS Affiliations. We are all ONE and same. If this Nation will attain the GLORIOUS HEIGHTS which have been proclaimed for ages, then YOU and ME have to play our parts respectively, and i dare say it begins with YOU.

So what are you trying to insinuate now? You are trying to whip up tribalistic sentiments and unnecessary arguments and counter arguments....

It does not worth it.

If the arguments were to begin to be raised, you will find out that your story is wrong...let's not go down that memory lane please.

This is a throwback of the magnificent Onitsha Niger bridge at Onitsha. The images clearly showed what the bridge looks like during the war in 1967 and what it looks like in 2019. The Onitsha bridge links the Southeast and Southwest and parts of Northern Nigeria.

History recorded that the brave Biafran soldiers led by General Achuzia, General Ikedife blew the bridge to shut out the invading Nigerian forces from entering the Biafran territory. This singular act of bravery made the Nigerian forces led by Murtala Muhammed to lose the battle at Niger bridge, this prompted the then Head of state, General Gowon to quickly redeploy General Murtala Muhammed.

OP I doubt if u know history

You are very correct..there was a huge rift between Akintola and Awolowo.....And the feds preferred Akintola...that led to the crisis in SW region then.... This was the genesis of everything.
