The Acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammad Abubakar Adamu, has said the Nigeria Police Force will employ technology to replace use of weapons in the fight against extra-judicial killing across the country.

The police IG who is in Lagos following the recent extra-judicial killings in the state, made this known while addressing police officers and the press at the Police College, Ikeja, Legit.ng reports.

While condoling with the families of the bereaved, the police boss stated that the wrong use of weapons will no longer be tolerated in the state.


In his address, he explained that series of training will be done across the country, especially with the handling of weapons and how to address the citizens.

Rubber bullets can kill at a close range.

The NPF should opt for the use of tasers. They are more effective at restraining suspects and would greatly assist curb deaths at the hands of happy trigger policemen.

Mental evaluation of uniformed men should also be carried out nationwide. The F-SARS should be given utmost importance in this regard. Plus trainings on how to restrain individuals/suspects.

SARS men should be removed from the roads completely.

Plz do that quickly b4 they kill us all... person go see police heart go dey cut am.

Let them make use of rubber bullets, that is what other police are using, they are not in warzone.

The police needs to be reformed first before you start talking about technology.

The major cause of police killings is bribe and that is the orientation that needs to change!
