candlewax: Tell him about the national minimum wage and your dissatisfaction with the pay he is giving you... So he can sack you and choose one out of the 20 other people willing to take your job for 20k or less. Now alternatively, you can ask yourself if your boss can afford to pay people 30k and has he paid someone that amount of money. Then get the skills of those people and solve a 30k problem. 3 Likes 1 Share |

faceland: Honestly, that bill should be restricted to the Public Sector. The Private Sector should be spared for now until Government have done the needful. Running Business in Nigeria requires the grace of God. |

rawfact: It is big private companies that are in trouble. Those that are forced to even pay pension and insure all employees.... The SMS business would just ask the applicant to sign that they are willing to work for less. Nigerian government has never operated a self-sufficient organisation at profit, so I don't expect them to understand what it takes to run a successful business. |

Ankakh: Hong Kong, probably the most capitalist country in the world at one time had no minimum wage. I don't know if this is so. I'm not a fan of minimum wage. If it was implemented to the letter, millions I'm sure will lose their jobs. How many states outside Lagos, Rivers and Abuja can private employers afford to pay this new minimum wage? High minimum wage countries have a higher level of unemployment especially amongst youths than those with low minimum wage. In Sweden, it's been fingered as one of the prime culprits for the high unemployment rate plaguing 2nd generation swedes of immigrants. Unable to find work because of the high minimum wage and feeling worthless without a job, they turn to crime. 2 Likes |

I was once a student like you and many times I supported myself through school by working on construction sites. Stop bagging, it ain't dignifying. |
