u guys should stop using these setup with your fans, just get ur self a 12v DC fan and a dc adapter, thats all u need, just saw the guy selling ups at arena today , he said people are complaining to him that apc ups is always damaging their fan, and i asked him if the 1000va apc ups is pure sine wave, he said no.
he saID HE PREFERS BLUEGATE to apc,
for me ,i will prefer the bluegate 1.2kva or 1.5kva to apc 1kva

Mr. Ceejay, please can you update me on prices for the fairly used batteries?

I really need to get a set of Fairy used batteries for my Inverter setup but i want you to refer me to your dealer in Lagos. As the new ones i bought have packed up not up to 4 months and i have angrily disposed them. I need 12v 200ah batteries

I am in Abuja

maybe 12V APC 1000VA is different then. i use 24V APC 1500VA. it works far batter than my other 12V bluegate 1.5kVA. i do use regular ac fan attimes, and it works well, but vibrate/hums a bit when i use 12V bluegate 1.5kva.

24v, yes I understand but 12v is more easy to set up and cost less, to be sincere, me no ready to dey buy double double battery and u know ,if u want to increase ur battery size on 24v, u will need 2 batteries unlike 12v, they both have their advantage and disadvantage,

Did my setup some days back. I did it before discovery this thread. I have planned and researched this before. I use my setup with solar arrays. On the fan if you get copper coil it will work better.
I have use a standing fan and that makes more hums but with a copper coil fan it only hums a little on a mercury 650va unit.

I think this ups and smart charger combo is a major downside of this setup.

Less than a week of using my own setup, the coil in my 2 standing fans got spoilt. The fans' indicator would come on, but the blades wont rotate.

Next, the battery stopped delivering current. I thought it was bad initially, but when i observed the charger closely, i noticed the needle that moves when you switch it on doesnt move anymore, meaning the charger was faulty and wasnt charging the battery anymore.

The charger is the blue 30amps Souer smart charger and i think it gets spoilt easily, from tje feedback here so far.

I am now scares of repairing the charger and using tje set up as it may damage the coil of the new rechargeable i just bought.

What do you guys advise i do?

Very sorry bro... Like suggested already, the burnt coils ij your fan is because the UPS is delivering a modifed sine wave which is often more common than puresinewave ups/inverters. Using a rechargeable fan may be better since it recitfies this to a dc viltage which feeds the dc motor inside. Puresine ups is still the best.

As for the charger, honestly i think when the UPS transfers load during an outage a voltage spike backfeeds into the charger and causes havoc. My next trial is to use the ups on inverter mode only and see what happens.

i doubt if that particular APC have a modified, its an old model apc 1500va and its pure sine wave.. he is a trusted fellow.

Iv seen modified of it. I just wish it is 12v. I actually prefer a 12v one.

Apc may just be better in terms of self consumption. I'm not sure since iv not checked. Secondly i just found out apc ups have a software that you can use to turn off that annoying beeping sound the ups makes, see what load the ups is carrying in real time and some other power monitoring stuffs. Wether bluegate, apc, mercury or whatever modified is never too good for inductive loads. So same precaution for apc modified is still same for bluegate and other MSW power generators.

Lastly, any rechargeable already does a conversion to dc inside hence no need for a dc converter for it.

Cheers.

Hmmmm, very sorry bro.

How did you use the battery? Did u follow best practices in usage??

What most people dont like to hear is that using of batteries as backuo power isn't the holy grail_lots of battery babysitting, energy usage consciousness, appropriate charging and discharging concerns.

If you abuse your new batteries, fairly used batteries will even make you regret further. Pls make sure you aren't abusing your batteries and they won't insult your wallet.

Cheers

seem your ups is not pure sine wave, whats is the Make? its not really advisable to use a regular AC fan on small ups/inverter. look for a 12v/rechargeable fans. it works better and consume far less energy.

i have used two 12v smart chargers( analog and digital) and none have issues. seems am lucky smiley

get the digital version of the blue souer, i believe its stronger and works better
i doubt if it can damage your new rechargeable fan.maybe u should get an APC 12v 1000VA ups. i av seen the inside components of bluegate & APC. APC is by far stronger & better( real copper transformer) cheers cool

Pls when using your souer chargers, is your ups connected to grid too? Or you just use as inverter only?

True that, u Na chairman for him side na grin grin grin. But the chargers I bought from him then didn't last at all. The black 12/24v digital charger, the one that lasted only stayed 3months. But I'll give him another try with this one.

Hopefully it should be better

Hello guys, just decided to catchup with this thread and surprised to see people are throwing away their suoer chargers. PLEASE THEY ARE EASILY FIXABLE.
Since Ceejay set up this thread, I've bought 3 different suoers ( the original black 20 amp, the blue 30 amp, the black 12/24v 20amp) and fixed all of them multiple times thanks almost always to NEPA surges.

Arena guys can fix it, though they will rudely and hurriedly do so, but I want to reccommend an elderly calm guy near the main seller in Labinjo (it was his boys who recommended him first) who will fix it and not give you story. His name is Anyanwu and number 08023441811. Also you can try him with any other inverter or UPS too. Please haggle with him ooo (4kish for suoer usually).

No truer words, lost 2 fans and a couple of led lights when I was still using UPS. Just google it, modified sine wave is very bad for fans that use coil. Also if you hear excessive humming when you switch on your fan or any electric device, it's very likely not compatible with your UPS. I was very lucky the UPS didnt spoil my soundbar.

Hello Tech Gurus in the house...

Finally, I have decided to join the team of converted ups users.

I have gotten the following for my system:

1. 100AH Battery X 2
2. 1.2kVA Blue gate UPS (12V)
3. 130w solar panels X 3
4. 30A PWM solar charger

I hope to set this up by weekend. Somehow I am very skeptical of using the external chargers with my system so i will be relying on only solar and the little charging the ups can do.

However, I go like know if the BG 1.2kVA/24V ups is a modified or pure sine wave.

I hear say modified no dey good for ceiling fans, and it will be difficult separating the fan from lighting circuits in my apartment.

I hope to put up the pix when I'm done with the installation.

u tried, but i think u still need an efficient charger, cos your panel and your type of controller might not be enough to charge your batteries properly each day. 12V bluegate 1. 2kva is okay but not really a typical pure sine wave. dont use an AC fan on it. get a 12V rechargeable fan. there is 12V DC ceiling fan in the market too

i wouldnt advise u to go for a refurbished battery, for ur rest of mind go for a brand new 100amps battery or if u can get a trusted seller that can give u up to 1month guarantee on a used 200amps battery, go for it. there are sellers of used battery ay oshodi or alaba.. i can give u the contact of the that want to sell fairly used 200amps to me, he av several of them bought the one used at mtn mast before.. he sells 200amps at 35k.

PLEASE INBOX OR KINDLY POST THE NUMBER OF THE USED BATTERY SELLERS.
