iammo:Lies as usual. Ogun benefits from proximity with Lagos and even at that, the igr is not doubling that of southeast. Besides, whatever Ogun is making could have been doubled if not for the kleptomaniac effect of tinubu. As for Oyo? Ask Ajimobi he can explain better |

Again, what did Jonathan do as President? I ask because most of the people crying foul now appear to be from the SE majorly. Why didn’t people shout then so that they build seaport in each state of the federation or at least in each SE or SS state? Businesses are situated for maximum advantage. Even shippers charge less when you bring your goods to Lagos than any other port in Nigeria. Lagos is simply more viable. In the North, all cross border shipments go to Kano first before distribution to various border states for consumption. Population, manufacturing industries, disposable income, purchasing power and consumer behavior are chief factors. The only thing that could have shed some weight off Lagos was if major industries like Ajaokuta Steel Complex, and the likes are dispersed and situated apart to boost economic activities of those states and their regions. Even then the peaceful nature or lack of it amongst other factors would be key determinants still. Also, the funds given other states would need to be withheld for a minimum of 4 to 5 years with no reprieve in sight to force the leaders and people to look inward and generate income. This was how Lagos rediscovered itself... Finally, Leadership in Nigeria have hardly deviated from continuing (without proper maintenance btw) with what works and gives the highest returns. This in itself is not a major problem except that you must equally pay attention to develop / revive what is not working so that over time it works and balances some of these lopsided scenarios. Again, even the Lagos facilities are in barely serviceable states in spite of being the cash cow. So guys, nobody is deliberately sabotaging other states or regions. It all cascades from the type of people that we are, and consequently the type of leaders that we produce... Dukeolumidemans: |

Chimaokigwe:I don't know what you mean by what Igbo are contributing when they are generally acknowledged as the most commercial tribe. Forget ethnic bashing, if you want to complain about ppl not contributing, your anger should be directed northwards. Unfortunately for you, buhari has opened two ports in the north and is frantically searching oil, yet you're too blind to see what is going on |

9gerian:This my grouse with my Igbo in laws. All complaints but no actions. No effort whatsoever at solving perceived inbalances or injustices. If efforts had been made and it was sabotaged by the FG or other Nigerians, I will be the first to carry the fight on their behalf. What stops the state government or a couple of state governments from taking over one of the ports in the Niger delta and making it viable. The FG concessioned the ports in the country and any business person or state government can take control of the ports. After all if Atiku can have full control of Onne Port, why can't others take control of other ports? The era of governments of building and operating ports are over, even in the US ports are concessioned to private companies. |

Enough of this repeated fallacy. Remove the seaports and move them to the rightful place which is Niger Delta, relocate all oil companies and their affiliates to the rightful place which is the Niger Delta and wait for only 10 years. |

Imo1stson:How will you remove ports from Lagos and relocate them to Niger Delta? Will you force oil companies at gun point to relocate their headquarters. You attracts investments with incentives and not by force. What incentives have your state governments provided for oil multinationals to make them relocate there, like security, infrastructure, tax breaks. You guys forget state governments have roles to play also. If a UAE company can bid and win concession to operate US ports, why can my igbo brothers - either individual organisations or state governments? - https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.arabianbusiness.com/amp/article_listing/aben/transport/393279-uaes-gulftainer-wins-50-year-concession-to-operate-us-port After all the igbos boast to be the best at business. Business does not mean only buying and selling. |

| Re: 70% Of Nigeria’s N5.2 Trillion Tax Revenue Was Contributed By Lagos State by wirinet(m): 9:19am On Apr 25, 2019 |
SarkinYarki:Wrong premise. Other states are not contributing their fair quota to the Tax purse, not because their indigenes are not generating taxable activities, but the governors are simply contended with going to Abuja every month cap in hand to receive hand outs. Lagos was also like that before Tinubu. It was Tinubu (with a little encouragement from Obasanjo due to the allocation withholdings ) that increased the tax revenue of Lagos. Most governors do not take tax collection serious. The east with so much economic activities have no excuse for the abysmal poor IGR. |

SarkinYarki:I agree with you but in a lawless country like Nigeria, anything goes. We copy the Whites without understanding the principles nor rationals behind why they do what they do. Our tax laws need a big overhaul. But the truth still remains that tax is not being paid by majority of Nigerians and most especially the rich I hope one day, a Deliverer would be sent by God to Nigeria. Maybe then, hope would be restored! Peace! |
