Hello guys. Wish I had found this thread before. So much good advice. Ok. So I am a Nigerian citizen and have had a US Visa since I was 17. I am 34 now and married with a child. I always do dropbox renewal. My wife has a virgin passport and my child is just 2. Last year I was thinking about doing drop box renewal for myself as usual but also including my spouse and child in the dropbox process, but I wasnt sure about whether my spouse and child qualify, since they have never had a visa before, so I decided to do dropbox renewal myself and have my wife and child go for the interview process just to be sure. My own renewal was successful. My wife and child then had my passport with them complete with my US visa in it with them at the interview yesterday. My wife's DS 160 said we were going on a family vacation sponsored by me. My wife has a 4 year job at GTB and is married with a child(who was also applying for a fresh US visa too) unfortunately this was not enough to show strong ties. Im thinking I should have gone to the interview with them, because I am more convincing at that kind of thing. At the very least I should have had them try to do the renewal with me. Instead I sent them on their own to do interview. I feel responsible. I thought my wife being married to a US visa holder and having a good job would be enough for a family vacation. Now Im looking for advice on what to do. I have been given 6 options. 1) Wait 1 year and have your wife and child reapply again. In the meantime take a family vacation to Dubai or SA or Ghana so that your wife's passport has some stamps in it. It will also make more sense when you are applying since you would have been a family vacation before as opposed to it being your first time. Try to get your wife a promotion at GTB even though you are the one sponsoring the trip it will help. Also try to own some property. Also try to have another child. You will need something for her to show as a change of status at her next interview. 2) Wait until your current US visa expires and do the dropbox renewal with your wife and child. In the meantime take a family vacation to Dubai or SA or Ghana so that your wife's passport has some stamps in it. It will also make more sense when you are applying since you would have been a family vacation before as opposed to it being your first time. 3) Wait until your current US visa expires, instead of dropbox, go to the interview with your wife and child so that you can do the interview with them.In the meantime take a family vacation to Dubai or SA or Ghana so that your wife's passport has some stamps in it. It will also make more sense when you are applying since you would have been a family vacation before as opposed to it being your first time. 4) Reapply for your wife and child today. This time your wife has to be more vocally proactive while still being polite in the interview. This is risky though. Yes she is married but she has just one child who is also applying with her. The 1st VO was not convinced they would ever come back. The 2nd VO will want to agree with the 1st VO. This is a risky one. Before reapplying I must repeat I think it is best if you should take a family vacation to Dubai or SA or Ghana so that your wife's passport has some stamps in it. It will also make more sense when you are applying since you would have been a family vacation before as opposed to it being your first time. 5) reapply immediately but only for your child, leave your wife out for now. Let your wife be a tie for the child. 6) reapply immediately but only for your wife, leave your child out for now. Let your child be a tie for her. Which options do you think are best? I donot like 5 and 6 at all. Thanks in advance. |

MrTraxSta:if only our Nigerians over staying abroad can be like this man America visa will be easy, I have nothing to say but all I can say is that I really like you for not misusing your visa you git your visa in d 90s you could have been a permanent resident you won't have any problem inviting your wife and kid filing for them is better but I just like u shaaa |

MrTraxSta:Option 3 is the best |
| Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by seyewest(m): 10:59am On Apr 24, 2019 |
MrTraxSta:If I was in your position I won't take any of the following and my reason for this, is listed below; 1) If you re-apply with your family, you may not be issued another visa (because you're applying with your ''ties'') 2) I'm okay with you doing dropbox renewal on your own 3) I believe for you to convince the next V.O you or your wife (Including the child) must go for vacation or visit a Western Country in Europe, Australia, Canada, South Korea and Japan and your wife must reapply for U.S visa while the visit visa for vacation is still valid or has expired within 6 months 4) Your wife can actually applies for training abroad through her work place (That means you will both apply for your kid when she returns) 5) You can actually follow your wife to the embassy but I think it will show desperation on your part 6) Have you traveled to another country apart from U.S in last 5 yrs? 7) What is your wife travel history Don't waste your time going to South Africa, Dubai, Ghana, Kenya and India... you need a quality destination with proper visa restricting processes.Good luck. |

MrTraxSta:Option 1 works for me, especially if you can make a trip out still around the normally proposed dates for the US visit. If you can push for a much more better visa, cool. Like get a UK visa (I think you guys have a profile that fits their template, then fly Emirates or Etihad squeezing in a few days stopover in the UAE) and visit there. Or get a schengen visa and see as much as you can see of the member states on one trip. |

@Mr traxsta, from a close person experience, even if you go with them for another it won't fly What my person did was go to Dubai, Rwanda and also got u. K visa for the whole family then re-applied after 7 months and visa was granted, no need for work promotion,. The first question I was asked in my case was if we have all gone on family vacation together and answer was yes and Visa granted, one hand on my first visa back then 2011 oo |

Thanks my brothers and sister(Omobendel24,seyewest,blackfinegirl,damilekan). I appreciate una. I have also traveled to UAE and UK on business during the last 5 years but my wife's passport is completely empty. It is a virgin passport. From all the answers option 3 described below seems to be the best/safest, as difficult as it maybe. I will try to get my wife and child a France,Canada,Australia or UK visa. Then have her reapply while the visa is still valid. It seems like the most sure fire option. seyewest: |

awumen:Thanks bro. I will try and follow suit. Just to be clear: So your advice is to get the whole family a UK Visa. Do a family trip to Dubai. (Hope the family trip does not have to be UK as well?) Let my wife and child try again on their own. |

Chips101:This is really sad. VISA abuse by Nigerians is worrisome, making it difficult for genuine applicants. I hope people change their minds. |

NothingDoMe:https://www.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/publications/19_0417_fy18-entry-and-exit-overstay-report.pdf 19.7k overstayed in 2017 vs 29.7k in 2018 (suspected). More Nigerians are staying behind. 10k difference is a lot. |
