I understand Alabi's point.

The Indian man should have considered doing more than the borehole, since it was cheaper than the house.
How do you know it was cheaper than the house? We have not been told if the house the boss wanted to build was a one bedroom apartment or even a self con.

The cost of drilling for water in the Man's community is colossal, no wonder the local government the community is under its jurisdiction couldn't afford to sink one. How much would a three bedroom bungalow cost compared to easing the suffering of hundreds and quenching their thirst. The borehole sef expensive pass the house O'Jare !

Most times, Nigerians (both rich and poor) sound smart but they really ain't that intelligent.

How would you sell the house to people that cannot even build houses made of blocks? People that struggle daily to survive? How many millionaires do you think you will find in that village? Do you think water ain't that scarce that he decided to help his community?

Lot of idiots can come online and talk sh!t. I can bet 100k that Akin Alabi have never visited a typical Northern village. Where you travel on a bike for hours, no utility poles(Nepa pole), no network, no pure water etc.

People need to travel more and do more volunteering works instead sitting in a room of AC and typing bullcrap from a PC or Android phones.

And some people voted for this fool? Did he know how many years the villagers would have been lacking this basic necessity?

So, he should allow the man build a house for him then sell it to sink borehole, that guy is 100% sick.

Browse through his page and saw where he said he organized an IT training of $5000 per seat. A training where non in attendance has a laptophuh Just only with pen and diary. What a crazy guy?

Honestly that guy is too daft to be in any position. He is just lucky Nigerians are gullible and the world has lazy people who are interested in doubling their gains overnight. If not, that guy is a zero.

May god bless the man and if I am his master, I will still go ahead with the building and as well sink the borehole.

Akin Alabi should please shút the fúck up.

He has no idea how many lives that his betting company ruined. I guess he's baffled and shocked that someone out there choose humanity over monetary gain.

On paper his idea is a good theory but why wait any longer when the food has already been cooked?!

Let him sit still and watch. This man will get a house.
Ruined lives, how?
Has he ever come knocking on their doors to place a bet?
He drag them go bet house saying they must be by fire by force?

My friend, go sidon somewhere

Lol, do you know if I am a core northerner or lived / worked in different part of the North before? @topic, it depends on the part of the North in question, I know real Estate investment is good in places like kano / kaduna, that again depends on the area / location, If located in far rural areas in the North, it might not make sense but in good locations / local government, it is a good investment grin
An area where people have to travel kilometres to get water is not a place where you can sell a house. The guard is most likely living rent free in his own modestly built house, that's how they live over there.

People like Akin Alabi is expected to be more intelligent than this.
I expected other wealthy Nigerians to build another house for him since he has converted the first chance to construct borehole for his people.

I'm not sure if it's worth more than the house but the good deed will bring him many blessings. The way to find happiness is by giving and with this, he will have lots of happiness.

Rather than condemn his action, people should give to him

Is like most nl members disabled dia pictures option in dia mobile browser. So una no see where he(Akin) replied to a comment in his twitter handle that the "suggestion is not in the verbatim"

In other words he fit get a better deal cox he don serve d man 4 25years. He can say "Boss please can you give me d monetary equivalent of d house u want to build 4 me" daz d man selling d house but to a different market/customer. Getting a better deal.

As someone that have served him 4 good 25yrs d boss will definitely wanna build a unique and quality shelter 4 him....25yrs is not 25months. D money can get him both the house and the borehole.

Would the house have been built without a functional borehole? Wrong decision indeed, he would have gotten both.
You really made my day with your response.
Choosing the house or borehole does not make sense with the state of the community and condition of the man.
The man should have choose the house and the borehole with the same initial cost of building the house.
The question is: can the community maintain the borehole project.

I was following the man hoping to learn something from him but had to unfollow because he tries to come across as sensible but he his pretty senseless, $5000 and they wont even get to replicate what he is teaching during the session, he always puts out match predictions that never wins and i see gullible men lament that they lost their hard earned funds, he always replies them saying bet for fun, forgetting that his followers are mostly not sensible and would die untop whatever he says...

This Alabi likes to sound smart. Since i am in gmat mood i don't have sufficient information to answer this smarty pants that has ruined lives with his platform.

So i will go with this assumption that this good man(the Indian man) intended to build the house in the security guy's village. A village with no water readily available will certainly not have real estate value. Who will wanna buy the house?

I believe he made the right choice

The gateman would not only get the borehole but a house and cash as events unfold. In hindsight, it would be a wise decision cos this selfless act just shot him into national limelight in a country where Yahoo and pant stealing is the order of the day. This is a breath of fresh air and should be celebrated.
Sentiments well shared.

mystifyer:
Personally, I think the man made a wrong decision without giving it a deep thought. Although his good intentions for the people in his community must be commended. However, they're many other ways he could have gone about achieving his intentions without necessarily losing the house offered, such as; Accepting the house which most certainly would have water facility (borehole), then he could request that a tap or two be extended out of his compound for the use of the people."
Let me ask you a question.
You have a building plan for me "which most certainly would have water facility (borehole)," but I am not aware of such a plan. You made the offer but I chose water facility (borehole)(which according to you, is certainly part of the house), would you then build the water facility (borehole) and not the house because I requested for it?

You only choose out of options. And the man chose to alleviate the sufferings of his people (even if it is for one month, for those saying the borehole will soon be destroyed) than to enjoy comfort alone.

He made no mistake! And thrust me, this man has gotten all he needs even for his children and grandchildren!

Some people will rather die poor with good name than being rich with bad name...

Akin Alabi spoken stupidly. Because akin is selfish, the man has given a betterment legacy as far as I'm concerned. I dontcarelism and negligence of duty that you are about to exhibit in house lower chamber. And beside Akin alabi didn't even got the news as well before Akin started commenting. The who volunteered the borehole for house is not erecting one borehole but several borehole has been dung not one. Which is serviceable to the God almighty. Provider. The reward awaiting the in the next generation. Who no know no go know. And if u know u know .

Next time, he should have added that he would like a borehole in front of his house so everybody can come fetch... In as such, he got his desire with his gift.

Firstly, let me state that I wrote my response in support of Akin Alabi's opinion, which is the most likely opinion of a business minded person. To answer your question; there is a saying that you get only what you ask for. If I'm correct I think there's is even a part of the Holy Book of Christians that says that "many ask and don't receive because they ask wrongly.'
It is not in his place to know in details what he would be given, but it is in his place to 'think smart'. Have you ever wondered why people in some private organizations, working on the same level, with the same qualification and all earn differently? It all boils down to your bargaining prowess on the negotiation table. Win-Win.

A bore hole should cost an average of 1 million in Jigawa.

The house that would have been built for him should cost around 5 - 10 million.

He could have told his master to give him 7 million so that he can build a smaller house and still sink the bore hole.

Or he could have told his master to build a house n sink a bore hole in front of it for the whole village to use.

By this skewed offside logic of yours, then Nigerian Breweries & Guinness should be closed down, cos their products have caused people to get drunk & get into accidents that killed/maimed (and innocent people unfortunate to be in their path same time) them.

I don't support sports betting in any shape or form but when people lack self control & discipline, it's their fault.
No, he didn't. But that still doesn't erase the fact that his betting company ruins lives and puts poor and unemployed deeper into poverty
