Solskjær: "He's [Mata] a fantastic person and a fantastic player. It's [renewing contract] up to him. I've had words with him and he knows how highly I regard him - he's a top pro and let's see if they manage to agree."

eph12:Dear eph12/2 it ain’t my fault that ur club is wallowing in 6th after all the noise y’all made winning those transfer windows, pissing on the face of Real Madrid, getting the better deal in Sanchez-Mikky swap. If u think deep without prejudice you’ll come to the obvious conclusion that it ain’t my fault you’ll be playing Thursday night football by the special grace of God come next season in far away Kuvikuland despite all that have been spent. I’m not ur enemy, I come in peace. ![]() |

I think he wants to renew Mata's contract for squad depth |

Squad depth ko, squad length ni. If Mata stays that is just another slot that could have been improved on by buying or promoting a talented youth team player. If these players keep renewing their contracts there will be no space for us to buy replacements or promote our youth players. |

Itsmedozie:A spot that someone like Maddison should be taking? Or one of those youth team boys.... Omo. Utd no serious jare |

This one is for the “is it your money” crew, las las your club will go the way of Leeds United. It’s a gradual process. Watch this space.

I think we should tell UEFA that we only need to send 2 teams to CL next year. None of the others seem to want to finish in the top 4. |

kokaneprodigy:according to a new football finance study. a club that can't fill their stadium capacity is the most valuable EPL team if you think Man City is earning more money than Man United then joke is you. remove the sugar daddy let's count the change left. |

Renewing contracts of 31+ years old fringe players is shambolic to say the least. Make them kukuma renew Valencia na. |

ChristineC:Matter of time. Right now, Man City does not, but with the way things are going, give it one or two years, they will overtake us. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by ChristineC: 2:51pm On May 04, 2019 |
nitrogen:care to shed light on how that will happen even in 10 years time? won't happen in 10 years. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitrogen(m): 3:01pm On May 04, 2019 |
ChristineC:Well, what got us to where we are today were Fergie's successes. And there was consistency. We got so many deals signed up, earning stupendously. Of course, not only trophies, tickets and manchandise sales give revenues. You can say that Woodie is an investment banker, he will continue to use our history to sign up more deals, but one thing is sure, if we don't improve on the pitch, the deals will gradually fizzle away. It's been close to five years that we won a major trophy (premier league or champions league). You can't continue to market an underperforming club, last year we earned 590m or so, City earned 500. Three years ago, the gap was huge. |

nitrogen:look at Liverpool, I don't see anything they've won for a decade, major or minor. clubs propped up by sugar daddies can only float as long as the man is interested, the day he gets bored is the day you realize it's all been a farce. there's almost no British club that'd survive servicing the debt the Glazers burdened on Manchester United, they've not only done that, but generated decent amount of money for player recruitment and maintenance as one of the biggest salary payers in Europe. yes they've not recruited wisely but have shown that with better experienced personality in the recruitment process, they can go for the biggest talents out there and not be hindered by funds. you think all that source of income will go away with a bat of the lid? the only thing that has held the club back is recruiting poorly, not the lack of a properly managed institution. the relationship between the brand and the success on the pitch vis a vis income generation is wildly elaborated, I'm not saying it is totally absent; but check how much has been taken by the Glazers since 2005 and check how much has been reinvested in the squad. |
