Bro you asked the right question. If he has nothing to hide, he should be able to explain what he means by help whether it's by cash of helping with funding BA while the equivalent is paid into his account. I see no crime in the question. Only a guilty conscience will act the way he just did.

When you're asked a specific question about your intent to help, I believe the simple thing to do is explain and not to take offence cos that will get red flags flying.
