Hi guys. I have never been more confused in my life than today.
I lost my contract job on the 28th of March 2018. Since then, I have been networking and applying for jobs online too.

Fast forward to today, I got offer letter from a private firm I did interview with 2 weeks ago and I was asked to resume tomorrow, May 7th. Now today again, a federal university I submitted my CV with (man know man thing) contacted me that my name is on the latest employment list released. Both jobs have almost the same salary. I'm confused like kilode! I don't know what to do. My mind is tilting towards the federal job but it will require me to relocate while the private firm's own is located in my state of residence.

I have never been this confused in my life. The private firm's employment offer demands two weeks notice before I resign or they will hold my guarantors. Please advise dispassionately. I have been looking for work for nearly two months. Now, it's coming as a confusion to me.

That's my offer acceptance letter from the private firm. I have already filled and scanned it back to them before I received news of my name being in the employment list of a Federal university.

You already know the truth, I am sure this question is just for formality sake. Perhaps, incase your village people have decided to blindfold you, kindly return the appointment letter to the Private firm if you are really sure of the Fed. Govt job. The two are not comparable even if the Private Firm salary is higher. Fed. Govt job remains the best, even better than most Multinational company jobs, except you are looking at a career path you want to pursue.

Things to consider when accepting to work in an organisation is career prospect, job security, promotion, training & opportunities.

To be candid, the federal job pays off. You are only scared because it is not in your state of residence. Move from your comfort and explore other locations. You are a man for crying out loud! If no want the job, Abeg am available o!

Job security is uncertain in most private firms. Tomorrow, they may decide they want to downsize and you may be among the scapegoat.

Go for the private firm.

You'll learn so much and improve on your skills so fast while working for a private firm than a government owned establishment .

Besides, now is not the time for you to move, since that'll cost you extra cash and time .

The federal job is always a better option BUT if you're having double mind about relocating take the private offer/...

ALSO - Since you've not been given appointment letter for the federal job remember A BIRD IN HAND IS WORTH 100 IN THE BUSH......... What if someone decides to replace your name because of his candidate.... lol

Federal job. Nigeria is a uncertain country to depend on private owned job. With Federal job, promotion is slow but certain. The same with salary, you are sure of it irrespective of how the economy is or how small/big the salary is.
There is also that incentive of time. From 4pm you are free to pursue other side hustles.
Pension is another angle.
If you don't really like life on the fast lane, take up the Federal job which guarantees slow and steady growth.

As long as you sure of the Federal job, go for it.

Choose federal over anything private.

Take the federal job, it comes with other perks not mentioned in your appointment letter.
