I don't need to take any vail off to see that you are not saying anything meaningful.
There is an already old gauge lines, working. So as a temporary measure to decongest the port what should you do? Build a new narrow guage to the east?
If the only option I have currently is to use the existing one, why not?
Have you seen Dangote offload on Teusdays? No you have not.
If you do, you will have an idea.
Have you seen lorries along okene road? You compare that to the ones going to SE?
You think its only we Igbos that offload? People offload one full ship for themselves alone and most of them are northerners.
Well done Bro for the clarity in explanation. As for that one up there arguing with you, I am yet to make head or tail of what he's saying. It's more or less like arguing from the point of sensationalism.

There was a time in our history when a train moving goods was not news...what happened to us as a country?

The millitary killed the trains essentially. The civilian government is repairing and building new ones.

Jonathan was President, what did he do for the South South and Southeast?
Jonathan was a failure to his own people, but at least he ensured enugu has an international airport.

How does that mean amaechi should also fail to help his people?

Anyway, we pray we never get the likes of Jonathan again.
Any president that comes henceforth should follow the buhari precedence and concentrate development where he comes from.

That is the new way.

I think toll gates should be reintroduced to our roads and this time it should meet international standards with security units of (police, custom, immigration, nscdc, military etc.) to ease security and road maintenance.

Cars- N100/toll
Buses,vans, pickup-hilux...etc.- N200/toll
Casters, lorries, coastals, etc- N500/toll
Luxurious buses, trailers, tankers,
containers etc- N1000/toll

-Vehicle impound park for defaulters with hefty fines...
-Car thieves/ kidnappers/ Armed robbers... easily tracked ...
- Smugglers/ overloads/ can be curbed and reduced...

Beginning from today (Tuesday) containers and oil tankers would start moving goods from Lagos ports through the newly acquired Railway wagons to the north.

The goods would move to the dry port in Kaduna in the North.

The transport minister Rotimi Amaechi had ordered some wagons for the Lagos-Ibadan railway for the purpose.

This measure was designed to ease traffic and gridlocks caused by heavy-duty vehicles from Lagos and roads.

The move to curb the perennial traffic jam in Apapa axis, the Nigeria Railway Corporation resolved to deploy the eighteen newly imported wagons for haulage from Apapa seaport.

The Managing Director, Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, Engineer Fidet Okhiria, disclosed that the newly acquired 18 wagons are to boost the inland container dry port business by moving cargos from Apapa seaport to dry ports in Kaduna and other states.

The NRC has the capacity to evacuate 20 footer and 40 footer containers from Apapa port to, Ijoko and Abeokuta, both in Ogun state and Omi-Adio railway depots, in Oyo state, for onward transfer by parked trucks.

The trucks would evacuate the containers by road to their various destinations which most often is either the inland dry port in Kaduna or Kano.

You can see the hypocrisy abi. Meanwhile south has between 10 to 15 low congestion ports that have been begging for use forever.

For now, I offloaded my last container Feb in Calabar. I don't understand the fuss about Lagos port.

According to them the eastern ports are closed. You're not allowed to import through there.

Oga, go back and read the post well. The train wagons can go from Lagos to Ijoko (Otta) to Abeokuta. It is right there in black & white. sad

Don't misquote me. At least ten ports has submitted applications for donkey years. I didn't even mention state, till tomorrow Beaureacracy has kept them from been utilised. If decongestion is the essence of the use of inland ports, why not use all available ports at the same time?

Calabar port is up and running 100%. In fact, the beauty of offloading through that channel is that you have your goods sold out in no time. Here in Lagos, you go wait tire, goods carried on credit, story everyday.

The NPA doesnt force anyone to use any particular port. Use what ever suits your interest. The other seaports in port east have been recieving attention by NPA. Those shallow ports are just place holder until Ibom seaport is ready anyway.

If you fill out formM, then your goods will head to Kaduna at no extra charges. Its same as a ship that docked in Ghana, then docked also in Lagos because as an importer, I filled in Apapa so I receive in Apapa or where ever I filled.
So if you fill in Kaduna, then you don't need to wait in Lagos. Just go wait for your container in Kaduna. But for now, I think its just used for clearing of goods for those who need their cargo within than region. Thanks.

True. My point remains. Several ports have their applications rejected. Not three not five. Let all ports have their application for use granted and then competition and market forces will sort things out. Recall 2014 2015 how so much ramblings occurred cause licenses were issued for use of pre established ports and establishment for new ones. Its my take that they should all be functional at the same time.

Lagos to ibadan we saw it. Answer this question. Ten ports have been rejected applications since the past ten years why? And two new ones popup suddenly and have their applications granted. Why?
