Hello good people,
DH and I have been following the thread since we got married few months ago and we have really learnt a lot .We have decided to apply and using the current availabe appointment date as at when filling ,we chose Abuja as the location on ds-160.

Two days ago, DH logged on to the appointment schedule portal, as he's had one from 2013 when he applied for tourism but refused.
Just before inputting the receipt number for both of us, the first available date was still 20th August. The moment he keyed in our receipt number, date changed to September 26th as the first availabe date.It was a surprise, we have tried several times but still the same.
The problem here is that our intended date of travel as filled in the form is 12th September. Moreover, I will be at 34 weeks already by that 26th September.
Has anyone experienced this unsual change im the available date before? How else can we go about this please
Thank you

I finally had my 221g interview on the 30th of April. I was denied.
I had applied for renewal via Dropbox on the 25th of February 2019, got my passport back on the 25th of March 2019. I started the search for dates and finally got 30th April. I would have been 36+ weeks at that date but I had no other choice than to wait.
As God will have it my water broke on the 27th of April and baby came within minutes.

I still thought to go for the interview and so on the 30th I did. Transcript below:

VO: Hello, Passport please
Me: Hi (hands over passport)
VO: why do you want to go to the US?
Me: Z had initially planned to go have my baby but she came early, so now I’d just love to go on vacation sometime in the summer.
VO: are you married?
Me: yes
VO: how many kids do you have?
Me: 2 babies now (smiling)
VO: (straight faced all this while, not even one eye contact) when did you get married?
Me: 2 years ago *mentions date*
VO: what’s your husband’s date of birth
Me: *mentions date of birth*
VO: what does he do?
Me: He works at bla bla
VO: how long do you intend spending in the IS
Me: 6 weeks ( that’s what I had on my ds160)
VO: you had one of your babies in the US?
Me: yes
VO: what do you do?
Me: I work at bla bla
VO: what’s your husband’s travel history
Me: UK, US, China, Spain, Italy, South Africa (went blank cos I lost count, then I told her there are a couple others- I have lost count)
VO: nods, how about you?
Me: US, Spain, Italy, SA, Greece. (At this point I was beginning to loose interest, she was typing for long inbtw questions, not even one eye contact, my mind had drifted to my new born at home already lol)
VO: please confirm your husband’s date of birth again?
Me: *mentions*
VO: sorry at this point you do not qualify for the visa, u are welcome to reapply at any other time and possibly the VO reviewing your application might be convinced otherwise.
Me: thank you (nods in agreement, collects yellow paper)
At this point she looks up for the 1st time, suddenly raises eyebrow and goes soft with a smile.
Me: *takes my leave*

Note: I was never asked for my itemized bills, I had paid in full, no discounts and I used an expensive hospital in Maryland.
My husband was refused a UK visa for a business travel and I am assuming that I might’ve been denied the US visa based on that too, going with how she kept on questioning me about my husband like she was trying to confirm he was actually the one.

Anyways for now I am fully occupied and focused on baby. I will reapply sometime in future, we will probably apply again for a UK visa before we try the US again.
Thanks guys, this platform is a gold mine.

Sorry about that. The 6 weeks though, why didn't you readjust it since plans have changed?

Honestly that answer just jumped out of my mouth as that was what I had filled initially. It was after I had said it that it occurred to me that could have readjusted since intent has also changed.

Well with the little or no time I had to process my application all over again I knew it was a game of chance.

Sorry about it, i am wondering why she asked for your hubby date of birth twice... was it maybe filled wrongly? Then i think the no of weeks you intend to spend .. maybe if you had said 3 weeks or so since baby is here.

The main joy here is congratulations on the birth of your baby

Yess! That’s the main joy. Thank you so much.

His date of birth was filled correctly. I had stated him as main sponsor for the trip, he was recently denied a UK visa renewal on the ground that they were not convinced about his economic ties so with the way she was asking questions about him, I just felt like she probably had access to that info and was trying to tie both profiles together.

Although I didn’t think it thru before mentioning the 6 weeks. I am not sure that would have been the deal breaker tho as I have stated 3 months before on my previous renewal application form for vacation and it was approved. I may be wrong tho.

The US President made a declaration few days ago which a friend in US shared with me; something about seriously cutting down on visas for countries with over 10% overstay rate (not sure what it is called but Nigeria ranks very high in this regard)
This may explain it.

All the best guys.

It does not explain it. A declaration is not anything put into law. They are planning on doing something, but haven't started. Any denials recently have no relation to that declaration, because nothing has been put into law.

Hello
Just send an application for visa on arrival email & attached your passport bio date page, husband’s, baby’s & your travel itinerary to oa@nigeriaimmigration.gov.ng
They should reply you & send your approval letter but might not be immediately.
I didn’t know there was a form you could fill online, just hearing about it.

Is Maternity Centers part of lists where DW can give birth?
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by pinkgems(f): 9:04am On May 07, 2019
Good Morning people,

Please I need your help.

I will like to apply for B1/B2 visa to travel in October and return 31st Jan 2020.

However my passport is expiring 19th Jan 2020. And I read that your passport must be valid through out your stay in the US.

Can I use the passport like that to apply for the visa or do I first renew it?
Also, will you advice that I pick Abuja or Lagos as my interview location?

I'm scared of the time the passport renewal will take given that I need to schedule my visa appointment asap.

Please kindly assist me, Thanks.

Your passport must be valid for atleast 6 months at the time of applying. You can apply for a new passport and having valid visa on your current one. before your travelling, your passport is less than 6 month so obviously you should get a new one before you travel.

However, what are you going for on B1/2 visa for that long period. If you are going for birthing, you should select B2 when applying.

Goodluck!

Thanks for your reply.

I am actually going to give birth.

i was thinking of staying max 3months. It will be difficult to start the renewal process of my passport now cos of the time those passport guys take.

What if i plan to return on the 18th of Jan just before the passport expires. Will that be fine?

To save time, apply now with the current about to expire passport, then start its renewal process immediately. You can attend your interview with both passports if you have the new one by then,if not, go with the available old one, Visa can be granted and issued on it, but by all means ensure you get a new passport to combine with the old one before travelling. Start the process now!
