Don't shed ignorant tears. Every society goes through this sort of civilization curve. It is not about the African community. Its about poverty, lack of proper education and exposure. Nothing genetic about it. matify83: |

DonX001: The very definition of racism is characterizing (usually negatively) an entire group of persons on the basis of race... Perhaps your "truth" is different from mine and others, because most of the Africans that I PERSONALLY know definitely do not lack an ability "to visualize the future", but then again I can only speak to MY truth and not being personally privy to your own experiences, family nor the sort of Africans that you associate with, I cannot presume to invalidate your own peculiar life experiences. Suffice it nonetheless for you to bear in mind that life is NOT a homogeneous experience (with emphasis on experience)! Meanwhile, interesting how these same Africans can emigrate abroad out of their comfort zone where they compete with others on their own home turf and routinely match or even outperform these supposedly superior races. > 1 Like |

Ijaycool: And you think petrol is the only source of generating electricity? Please, do your research and see that anything relating to oil that causes pollution is gradually and quickly being phased out. We have wind, solar, hydro and thermal source of generating electricity. So, I am wondering where your argument comes in?. |

Whether Nigeria likes it or not 2025 tokunbo cars we import that run on diesel will be scarce to find. It will be cheaper importing electric cars by then the sense to give Nigerians steady electricity will hit the government. |

JMK9600: That is not even the point. This increase in electric cars in most of these countries will mean little or no patronage for our oil from these countries who will be running on electric cars and will inevitably lead to a nosedive in our budgets. So, the way out of this incoming conundrum is to look for other alternatives. |

ednut1: Since I am not a religious person, I will not even expend much energy on the highlighted that consigns your own indigenous religions as "belief in deity and fear of the supernatural" but have you believing in his own deity that apparently gets virgins pregnant, turn folks into pillars of salt and wipe out entire populations for non-obedience. Anyway, why would blame their obtuse racism when low-esteemed and self-hating Africans are slaughtering each other and impoverishing themselves on behalf of foreign 'religions' in an orgy of disgusting self-fulfilling prophesy! 9jaRealist:He loves the display of power, but fails to realize its responsibility - he will work hard with a less incentive than most races. He has the courage of the fighting animal, an instinct rather than a moral virtue. In brief, the virtues and defects of his race -type are those of attractive children, whose confidence when it is won is given ungrudgingly as to an older and wiser superior and without envy. Perhaps, the two traits which have impressed me as those most characteristic of the African native are his lack of apprehension and his lack of ability to visualize the future" Is this part wrong 1 Like |

Sunsets: "The typical African of this race-type is a happy, thriftless, excitable person, lacking in self-control, discipline, and foresight. Naturally courageous, and naturally courteous and polite, full of personal vanity, with little sense of veracity, fond of music and loving weapons as an oriental loves jewellery. His thoughts are concentrated on the events and feelings of the moment, and he suffers little from the apprehension for the future or grief for the past". "He lacks the power of organisation, and is conspicuously deficient in the management and control alike of men or business". If the above excerpt did not send you into a sober mood then you are wired to self-destruct soon. How do you escape poverty and ignorance when you lack the power of organization and veracity? 3 Likes 1 Share |

ednut1: Rather rich from the dude that displayed absolute power over the Nigerian colony with little responsibility to its indigenous population... Bros, not sure how much you have bothered to study African history (and I realize that Nigerian authorities are anti-history), and I am not even one of those folks with a rosy nostalgic view of ancient Africa, but the reality is that while his ancestors were busy slaughtering each other mindlessly during the Dark Ages, our ancestors were building centers of learning (the equivalent of today's universities) and empires, and peacefully trading across expansive territories within and between different indigenous 'nations'! Please do not let a colonial slowpoke who cannot culturally distinguish between Hausa and Fulani or Yoruba and Ibibio presume to tell you about the psyche or culture of the African. > |

Re: Electric Cars Outsold Petrol/diesel Fuel Cars In Oil-producing Norway by DonX001: 11:04am On May 11, 2019 |
Darevofpeace: Bros, you don't get it. The reason why all these things you outlined happen is because of our inherent nature as a community of Nigerians/Africans, which is what Lord Lugard succinctly outlined. Don't blame slavery as the cause. Africans are not the only race that has ever been enslaved. Caucasians, Israelites (Jews), Arabs and other races have also been taken as slaves. Slavery has been existing since before Jesus Christ was born, well over a millennium before any white man set foot in Africa. So its not only Africans that have been ever enslaved or had our resources plundered. It was standard practice in those days to take a city's citizens as slaves and plunder their resources whenever there was a war. Go and read your Bible or Quran if in doubt. So its not about slavery. Even in more recent times (in the past century), millions of Israelis were annihilated in the 2nd World war, 2 major Japanese cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki were completely razed down by atomic bombs. Down to complete dust. Yet they have completely rebuilt and are thriving ten times better than Nigeria. So its not about slavery or looting of resources. And you're blaming government, its not about government, because the government is a product of the people. If you remove the president 10 times and put 10 different people, 9 out of 10 of those people will be criminals who are looking for a way to loot their own share. Why? Because they are picked out of our community, where almost half of the youth is either a yahoo boy/yahoo+ boy, dating a yahoo boy or supporting yahoo. Where some parents actually support their Yahoo children, pray for them and defend them. Where if you are a government official and you don't chop money, your village people will abuse you and call you a useless man, and your co-workers will try to remove you or kill you since you are blocking them from chopping money. The reason why our government is irresponsible and full of bad leadership like you said, is because of our nature. The reason why people don't come out to vote or actively participate in politics to choose few good leaders out of the many bad ones, is because of our inherent nature still. So the question is: why are we like this? Why is Nigeria and Africa's own different? It boils down to our inherent nature as perfectly outlined by Lugard. Go back and read his writeup again slowly, line by line, and think about the Nigerian conundrum and why we refuse to develop despite ALL our resources. Read it without sentiment (if you have that ability). And tell me what you see. PS: A summary of the reason why we are like this is below: (We lack the ability as a people to visualize the future, a lack of comprehension of the effects of our actions in the long term, and we lack the ability to learn from past events and plan for the future...as a people.) That is exactly what Lord Lugard said. |

ednut1:Lol, the guy didn't know he was actually agreeing with Lord Lugard by listing out the actual visible effects of our inherent mentality that Lord Lugard outlined 100 years ago. If he goes back and reads it truly with a clear mind, he will see how the features of our mentality Lord Lugard mentioned have led to Nigeria's current state now. |

ednut1: Gbam! Its either they do not understand it (and other salient parts of the writeup), or they chose to ignore it. Either way, it does not change the reality. The proof of of it is in the way our society still functions, over 100 years after he wrote that, while other non-African countries that started around the same time as us or after us have moved faaar ahead of us. |
