Family
Thanks. Even if it is graduate assistantship and cost that is left to cover by family is very small. Do I still put family?

School
You show SOA if they ask for it.
The I20 also shows the breakdown

Yes. V.O will see your assistantship offer on your i20. So put the name of the person covering the rest plus your flight bill

Is there even an option for school when it comes to who is paying for the trip on your DS 160?

And you can easily obtain such from Nigeria via Online learning.

What's your GPA and UG degree and why going for MBA?

GPA is one of the least considerations for an MBA. You can cover a weak GPA by acing your test scores, showing solid work experience in strong positions, having stellar extracurricular activities and having strong leadership experience.

Thanks for your reply. I actually saw a certificate course in ucla with information on getting f1 visa for the program. I already have several multiple visas to the us and my last one is still valid. Wanted to do a short course while on vacation but they all require f1 visas.

OK nice.
I was actually looking from the perspective of the VO.
Most certificate courses are readily available online and most common is MBA.
So get a proper F1 Visa that will be feasible.

MTech has very low funding purse annually.
You should shoot your shot. Contact your GC and inform him of how excited you're on getting admitted. Then inquire if you can be considered for a TA position.

Is that your only school?
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by bidemi1190: 3:50pm On May 11, 2019

Pls I have this curiosity to clear,

While I am yet to request for my I-20, tho after several attempts yet no funding, on campus job would only be given physically hence it won't surface on the I-20.

Tho I have an agency here wanting to give me about 50% funding, still this won't surface on my I-20 other than the indication that I will have some agency take care of so so amount.

Now I intend to cajole the person in charge of the form to include some GA on the form although it will be ineffective citing that it will ease my visa issue even tho it is not an ultimate determinant.

Pls is this ideal? Or I should just keep faith? Any case of such?

Thanks

Had my visa interview on Monday and here is the transcript.

V.O: Good morning
Me: Good morning

V.O: Pass me your passport
Me: (Passed my Passport, I20 and sevis receipt)

V.O: Did you apply to any other school?
Me: I applied to seven other schools.

V.O: You applied to seven other schools? (She was a bit surprised)
Me: Yes (Actually applied to nine schools)

V.O: Why did you choose this school?
Me: Well, it was actually a tough one. I was awarded a fellowship by the school and given a graduate assistantship by the department. Also, my adviser Dr. Pierson was really keen on having me (stuttered a bit here) and went out of his way to convince me to join his research team. Most importantly, his research work on additive manufacturing, industrial automation and cobots are a perfect fit for me because this was what I worked on in my undergraduate research project, so it's more like a step up. ( she was listening and typing all through. Even after I finished she kept on typing for a while before asking the next question)

V.O: Which engineering are you going for? (My I20 only had "General Engineering " as the course of study)
Me: Industrial Engineering

V.O: Do you have any one in the US?
Me: Yes, my uncle.

V.O: Are you single?
Me: Yes, I'm.

V.O: (brought out the white paper and circled the pickup location before giving it to me.) It will be ready after 3 working days...... you will need your I20 at the point of entry...
Me: Thank you.

Thanks to everyone especially those that took time to share their transcript, they were really helpful. I pray those preparing for their interview shall get their own with ease.
congrats, i tap from your success in Jesus name

How many years of work experience do you have?

Feel free to email your resume to me at bracelum@gmail.com so that I can have a clear understanding of your background.

Yes. They are stingy when it comes to offering graduate assistanship. Count yourself lucky if they offer you one.

Explaining to her how having some sort of funding can increase my chances of approval

I think persuade or convince should have been the better word

I'm not sure how I feel about this at all. I cringe when I imagine the impact your "persuasion" would have on your self-respect and integrity. What would she think of you?
Besides, Americans value honour, I do not see her accepting. Perhaps you think so little of the I-20 but it's a vital legal document. Whatever is written, binds. Please do not do this.
I have read transcripts of people whose visas got approved and they didn't even have the almighty funding. I wish I could write more, but what do I know.
May His wisdom be with you my friend.
