I work in an organization where we deal with customers on a daily basis, Sometimes customers will have issues with their transactions,and we will call our boss about the customers complaints, all the time we call him (he is not always around) he will tell us he will get back to us,most times he won't, meanwhile the customer is waiting, sometimes he or she will rain abuses on us, telling us how incompetent our boss is,
Fast forward to last week,I wrote him a text about this particular issue, the text is as follows (sir pls,always endeavor to get back to us on time,because not all customers have the patient to wait,the few ones that can wait won't leave without saying series of degrading comments)that is how my boss drive straight to the office from wherever he was,and started raining insults on me,that who gave me the guts to write to him in such manner, I just open mouth. I was like, sir I didn't mean it that way o.I was just trying to let u know the issues we face here on a daily basis. He just no wan hear o.

I heard from a colleague that he threatened to fire me because of the text,that they were the ones that begged him not to.

Yesterday was my off day,(we work Monday to Saturdays) u are only allowed off once a month on Saturdays only,we the staff have a roster for rotating it.)
I was at home relaxing when he called me shouting at his end,y didn't I give him notice before I took my off.

Conclusion: This job is adding no meaning to my life,on top of being bombarded every day with insults from customers and boss.Now my colleagues are saying I should apologize to him.
Should I apologize or quit??

Try humble yourself and apologize to your boss.

Op! My advice is that you shouldn’t quit the job yet. Yoruba/English says a bird at hand is better than 1 billion in the bush’ you don’t know what you gonna face in other job you’re getting so apologize to him till God do better for you. Issasimple stuff

You can choose to resign and get another job since you said it’s not adding no value to you or humbly apologize to your boss and move on.

In a formal organisation, there are ways things are done. No matter how polite a situation looks, if it is going against certain basic rules, IT IS WRONG. What happened with waiting for whenever he comes back from wherever before going to his office to explain to him challenges you usually face in his absence?

About quitting, I know how frustrating a job can get. I resigned from my bank job because of it. I had #2.3m at the time I resigned but right now, I am praying to get back that job. Money was invested terribly(this includes loaning some to someone I held dear to my heart)...Everything down the drain at the moment.

My point? don't leave that job until you have another CERTAIN means of income.

As it is always said, there is someone out there wishing to be in your shoes.

If the insult was much just resign but I understand you wanted the boss to step up but pride would not allow him to. Apologize to him and mind your business henceforth. Quitting is not the best option except you are ready to be your own boss. All jobs have their own peculiar problem and issue. Customer is king in any establishment but your text to your boss was very rude. You should improve your communication and customer service skill and try to search for another job on the side

I understand How you feel Op. I have been in similar position b4. Pls don't quit until you get another job. Intensify your search for a better job, it would come. Also know that one has to be extremely careful with written messages as it can always be referred to. In that light I would say it's is wrong to say "Pls always endeavour" to you boss. Forget the pls... always endeavour is a command (disrespectful).I would rather you don't text him at all, but if you must, It would have been better if you said "Sir, Please I would love if you could respond on time so as to attend to customers promptly thereby increasing customer relationship and continuity as customers seems to be in haste at times."...
Customers insults are nothing. Learn to shield yourself from their insults, don't ever take their insults personal. As long as you keep working with customers anywhere you go, you will have to learn to deal with their various behaviour. I wish you all the best

For sometime now, I've been passing through my former office (where I resigned from) and I've not been seeing any form of activity. So I made my findings, couldn't believe the company has folded up. This happened four (4) months ago. Majority of the clients terminated their contracts with the company due to poor service delivery. It was so disheartening I must confess but at the same time, it's a lesson learnt.
Don't take advantage of people and never take their commitment and loyalty for granted.

I wish him luck in his future endeavours and hope he has learned from this.

I had a terrible experience with my former employer, I nearly resigned without a job, I increased my job search and prayer points. God still answers prayer, I have the best boss now. Apologize to him, increase your job search, and pray like Hannah did to get her Samuel.
