I Respect, Obey Bible More Than Nigerian Constitution - Dino Melaye by Naijaalive(op): 8:45pm On May 12, 2019
The Senator representing Kogi west, Dino Melaye, has said that he has respect and actually obey the Bible for than the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria, where he is a lawmaker. Melaye, however, urged Nigerians to speak out in the face so many injustices the country is facing.

Speaking on Sunday at the one year remembrance of late Janet Kikelomo Gbadebo, the wife of a Deputy Editor of Leadership Newspaper, Bode Gbadebo, held at the Gloryland Baptist Church, Lugbe Abuja, Sen. Melaye expressed confidence that would take over affairs of Nigeria.

“I want to say by the grace of God that the Church of God in Nigeria will continue to march forward. As an individual I respect the Bible than the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and I will first obey the word of God before I obey the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I know God will take over the affairs of this nation. My singular advice for all Nigerians irrespective of religion, sects and tribe is that we must all come out of our hiding, we must conquer fear because the Bible say He has not given us the spirit of fear but He has given us the spirit of boldness and that of a sound mind.

“I encourage us to practive this philosophy of mine that in an unjust society silence is a crime. When you see what is evil say it because if you say the truth you will die, if you lie you will die. So, it is better to say the truth and die,” Melaye said.

The bible never teaches disrespect. Obey the bible, but don't fail to also obey the constitution 'cause once you do, it's a sin against God.

Senseless and shameless from a Lawmaker. If you can't control your emotions at least try working on your loose mouth.

Believes in the bible he says? Was there a chapter or verse that spoke of the power of thievery and dereliction of duty to one's constituents? The bible he knows must be a different version, one available to only Nigerian politicians lol

The Nigerian constitution is a fraud so, anyone who disobeys it hasn't committed any sin. Ask your President...he has violated the constitution and the rule of law many times and nothing has happen to him

Why not obey both since they do not contradict each other. Even the Bible says, "give unto Ceaser what belongs to Ceaser and into God what is His."

Maybe because the punishment for disobeying God is harsher than anything prescribed by the constitution. Eternal damnation.
Be careful though, the constitution can still bite you in the arse.

Bible instructs followers to obey the government. ... Romans 13:1-2 says: "Obey the government, for God is the One who has put it there. There is no government anywhere that God has not placed in power. So those who refuse to obey the law of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow."

A law maker publicly talking down on his country's constitution that should have come first in everything will surely face consequences in sane societies but hey it's Nigeria, the headquarter of religion in the world. grin
