Icon4 is inconsistent.

Today a player is special talent but tomorrow a player is inexperience. That's is just the double standard used to determine who plays in the 'National' team.

Even if Awoniyi scores 100 goals he will not make the 'National' team.

Osimhen has graduated from being just a "special talent" to being a Senior Team player with steady improvement in performances.

He has Paid back the faith the coaches had on him by his recent performances.

If Awoniyi can be consistent and keeps on improving he will also get a look in.

The national team is for all Nigerians.

Why didn't you give the same reason for Opabumi when Onigbide picked him at first? Or Opabumi wasn't a 'special talent' as at then?

How come you had a different reasoning?

Besides, on that list I mentioned Batholomew Ogbeche, Justice Christopher, Femi Opabunmi and Efe Sodje. Why was it that it was only Femi Opabunmi u picked to defend? Ogbeche was even younger than Opabunmi.

Ur matter sef. undecided

Who are the experienced strikers we have in the super Eagles now?

Onigbinde dropped Yakubu Aiyegbeni and took Opabunmi to the world cup.

Besides, Osimhen's rating at U17 was higher than that of Opabunmi. Which Nigerian U17 Player has ever scored a double digit in a single tournament? Osimhen is highest ever goal scorer at the U17 WC. Talentwise both players are not at par.

Mind you , if you are fair with ur reasoning, all along I have been against Osimhen's early inclusion into the national team until he proves himself at senior club level.

You cannot hinge on Osimhen's call up to keep crying over Awoniyi's exclusion. Both players are currently not on the same pedestal.

Did Onigbide dropped Opabumi a LW for Aiyegbeni a Striker?

Opabumi won the silver boat(5goals) and the silver ball as a winger despite not winning the tournament. What is the difference?

Osimhen won Golden boat (10 goals) and the silver ball as a Striker.

As you can see, It was never higher.

So, I ask you again.

Why didn't you give the same reason for Opabumi when Onigbide picked him at first? Or Opabumi wasn't a 'special talent' as at then?

All this arguments because Awoniyi or Ajagun isn't on the list when we have Nacho and Ogu there right?

Rohr has decided!!!
Even if we argue from now till 2034 it will not change anything. So jus accept it and move on.

How many goals did Osimhen score last season before he was called into the National team?

Do you mean Awoniyi who scored 8, 10 and 12 goals consecutively in the last three seasons is not consistent?

those guys over the years have stamped their place on the national team invitee
especially nacho..the first goal the super eagles ever scored in rohr's reign was done by nacho and many other goals
you don't expect any coach to ignore such a player quickly because of a rough path he is currently plying

but still he has the friendly to prove himself...

everyone here knows that nacho is a good finisher even though he has currently lost form and currently being lackadaisical.
and for Ogu... you know sure well the calmness he brings into the game and his ability to shoot from afar precisely
he proved himself against algeria and that alone impressed rohr compared to agu with so many chances he failed to utilize

Rohr had been a fan of oshimen because of his parent club...i think rohr
has a good relationship with the management of that club who informed him
of oshimen exploits in front of goals... remember a member of the backroom staff at wolfburg
once said oshimen score a lot of goals..i think that was in training...

that alone made rohr to take interest in him... you know sure well Rohr is a fan of the german and french league

Because you believe Osimhen was first called to the National team based on special talent status he gained through the U17 tournament.

Did Justice Christopher and Batholomew Ogbeche earned special status through any U17?

Opabumi did. Didn't he?

How many months after playing U17, as a 16 years old, did Onigbinde invite Opabunmi for camping for a major event like the WC? Barely 6-7months. What level of his game had he developed from few months after the U17 WC?

It was just like taking Osimhen to the WC in 2016 if it was held that year. See u comparing Opabunmi's case with that of Osimhen who was invited for an AFCON qualfiers (not even a WC o) after almost 2 years after playing U17 and having signed a senior professional contract.

The Nigerian press had every reason to ask questions about Opabunmi's inclusion. And what was the Coach's answer? "He is my boy".

All these are irrelevant because you said Osimhen was first called to the National team based on just 'special' talent status as seen in the bolded below.

Was Opabumi not called at first based on special talent status?

Why did you against it then and even till now since he was indeed a special talent but you want us to believe it was okay to call Osimhen at first based on special talent status?

Icon4s:

First off please when did we ever have an Iwobi vs Dele Alli argument here?

Talking about Awoniyi we are talking 2019 here. Awoniyi couldn't score in a 2019 U23 qualfiers and the Osimhen u are trying very hard to pull down because of him scored 3. That is what we are discussing here.

I have told u Osimhen is a special talent which was why Rohr picked him early. You cannot say same for Awoniyi who has even been struggling with form for a couple of years now.

Sometimes some Dudes beat your Imaginations and Expectations of them as regards to Fairness. How can Someone keep hammering that Awoniyi won't even make the U23 first XI for God's sake?!

First and foremost, it was he's playing in a lower League, forgiveness dropped an uncontestable Fact to checkmate it. Secondly it was the heroic Performance of Osimhen at the last U23 qualifying Match as if Awoniyi had not done the similar Feat in GwG.

Why shying away from the Question asked by Forgiveness?! How many Goals did he score before he was called over to the National Team?! Because Onuachu scored a Goal in his Debut Season, thus he's rated highly and better than Awoniyi now. I pray he doesn't turn to be another Ogbuke!

Though Forgiveness can be annoying at times, but he's right on Awoniyi's Exclusion From the List. He's in form, he's playing well for his Club, yet he's not even on the standby List. That's unfair!

Am I surprised that Iheanacho made the List? Capital No! Is he gonna be dropped? Capital No! Iheanacho is going to Egypt, same as Musa, Simon, Etebo, Ndidi, Mikel, Balogun, Ekong, Igbalo.

The Competition for the final List is between Onyekuru, Chuks, Osimhen, Onuachu and Kalu. Two of them are going to be dropped. They are talented, exceptional but they're not core Members of the Squad yet.

Besides why do we need 10 Attackers in the Squad at the Expense of Midfielders, especially attacking Midfielders?! Seem Rohr is thinking of of playing 4 - 2 - 4 Formation in Egypt? Two Strikers flanked by tricky, pacy Wingers who can as well operate as Wingbacks by covering up for the FBs if the need be.

End Note: In my Opinion, the List is fair enough. I have nothing against it, so is everyone on the List. And whoever makes the final Cut should count himself lucky and ready to die for the Color.

What do except from someone who believes Awoniyi is never a good striker from the unset.

Because they don't have an answer.
