I have travelled with my four children alone, several times, and have neither been asked to provide an authorization letter for any of them nor asked to show their immunization cards.

Our passports all have the same surname, though. That might be the reason... or not.

In 2013, though, while trying to board, at Amsterdam, an officer casually asked my eldest who I was and she responded with, "That's my mummy."
It seemed casual, but I bet she wanted to be sure that there wasn't anything fishy going on.

You should be fine, by God's grace.

Just wondering though. Numbers 1-4 estimate used to fly at the embassy during interviews for visa, and renewal, and for actual birthing too. Abi? What has happened? I don’t think anyone will be bold to run with those figures today. Not like we know exactly why we won’t, but we won’t! That’s some crazy position to find one’s self and function from.... God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!

Surprisingly, the mama that posted this actually used it for her renewal during this crisis and her second missionary as she paid same in first missionary. She got her visa and her mum got too. cheesy cheesy cheesy

Wow!!!! This is more serious than we thought o. Seems they are out to curb birth tourism and reduce number of people who run away when they get there..

The rate of denials is even telling on this thread. Cos activities here have slowed down so much compared to 2015 when I had my baby.

Nigerian mothers have to go back to the drawing plan. All the best my people.

You are in luck. My wife got in through JFK last week. Unlike the previous times where questions were asked on the counter, she was asked to go for secondary inspection, she said there were many people there and she had to wait for about one hours thirty minutes. There were questions asked about her mission ( she has a medical visa we are using for the second time), and some documents were checked. If this is her first trip to the US, I will suggest she has all her documents well arranged ( doctor's appointment, or at least, details of the hospital and the Doctors she has in mind, proof of payments ( if any has been made), she should also be ready to disclose how much she has ( it should be reasonable amount in view of the imminent expenses) and also explain why she is coming in through JFK ( if her final destination is not Newyork or nearby cities). It may also be necessary to have a confirmed address.

Hi, I came in through JFK on the 8th of May. Was asked what I’m here to do. Told them holiday and have my baby. Asked how much I had with me, told him approximately 9k and he said I’m only taking you in cos you have a lot of cash and then taken in for secondary inspection. Immediately was told to come sit (within seconds)... asked where I was going.. said Maryland. Asked how much I had. Told them (he didn’t ask to see it) .. asked if I had an appointment with any hospital.. gave Henricos appointment letter.. asked for it.. read it briefly... asked how much the cost of delivery is.. told him.. He stamped me in for 6months and wished me a safe delivery. All was within 5mins. Truth be told I was nervous and not a bit confident, so God grace prevailed as usual..All Glory to God alone!!

What do you have to say now abt the suspension of Visa waiver drop box? And even the recent plenty denials weve seen even on nairaland?
When people share authentic news and some others just have the urge to disagree without an equal alternative news...smh
These are part of d ways to cut down successful applications obviously and President Trump always means business. With immediate effect oh!

Well, Nigerians are learning their lessons small small.
Its now face interview or you forfeit your application. It is well.

Patiencemom:

It does not explain it. A declaration is not anything put into law. They are planning on doing something, but haven't started. Any denials recently have no relation to that declaration, because nothing has been put into law.

Good morning all. I have been a silent member and would love to give back (if possible)
I joined this platform in 2017 to find a hospital to have my baby in( I already had my visa in 2016 and disclosed to the VO I was going to give birth. I, however, had PROM and gave birth in Nigeria at 29 weeks, and eventually lost that baby when he turned 9 months).

I got pregnant again, and gave birth 9 months after and used the previous b1/b2 visa to travel in 2017. I disclosed at the NY POE and wasn't searched or questioned. In total, I spent about five minutes at POE and travelled to Florida to have my baby because I had family there. I spent about $12,000.

In March 2019, my husband and I applied for dropbox together in Abuja and got the 221g letter. We scheduled an appointment for Thursday, April 11, 2019.

We were a little scared as 99.9% of the people were being rejected and coming out with pink papers. The AfricanAmerican lady VO would reject about 10 people before the other VO's would complete one interview. Anyways, I do not remember much, but this is our transcript (not 100% verbatim fyi).

VO: Hello, may I have your passports
Hubs and I: Good morning, yes please (hands them over)
VO: Do you have relatives in the US?
Hubs: Yes, my brother lives in the US
I: My aunt also lives there
VO: Have you visited the USA before (types on her desktop)
Hubs and I: Yes we have severally, and even had our baby there in 2017
VO: How many kids do you have?
Hubs: One
I: We had two, but lost our first. He was, however, not born in the USA
VO: Sorry about that.
VO: What do you do?
Hubs: I work as a xxxxx
I: I work as xxxx in xxxx
VO: May I see your previous hospital bill. How much was it?
I: (Handover all bills, with all the adjustments, discounts, zero balances and Itemized bills) Our previous bill was about $11,600
VO: How much do you intend spending?
I: From our correspondence, about $14,000 (she didn't ask for any dr/hosp. correspondence, even though I had it there)
VO: So you intend to use a different hospital?
I; Yes
VO: Asks for account statement (We handover both from our various banks)
She goes through them thoroughly, and types for a very long amount of time.

VO: (Hands us a white paper) Your visa has been approved. Please pick up your passport in three business days.

In the two hours we spent, every other person had pink papers.
I want to thank @TripleKmama and @mrshappy who answered and supported all my numerous questions and requests.

What I learnt from all this is try to be as honest as possible and follow your instincts on things, especially bills.

I want to say thank you for providing me with all the research I needed and Good luck to mothers and fathers applying for Visas.

Going to the US no one will ask you for authorization to travel or immunization records.
However, in December 2018, at the Lagos Airport, i was asked for authorization to travel
with my son because we have different surnames because my passport is still in my maiden name.
I had to bring out my other ID cards with my husband's name i.e. driver's license, NBA card, office ID etc.
I had five ID cards with my husband's surname.
The immigration officer allowed me go through but said next time he won't allow me travel with the boy.

Thanks dear. This means that JFK is way better tha. Houston or Atlanta airport. She is a first timer to the U.s. she will have the receipt for her doctors deposit fee and also accomodation paid and hopefully hold a substantial amount of money .
God will see us through..

It's so painful we have to take all these pains cos of unstable health care... so painful

Hi everyone,

Been reading through the thread and i think i found some answers but i just want to be sure

i just found out that i'm pregnant and i'm thinking of going to have my baby in the US or Canada

I schooled in the US (F1) and after 6 years i moved back home, i applied for B1/B2 visa with my family in 2016 but didnt get to travel till December 2017, spent two weeks and came back. I did dropbox for my sister and i last year November (2018) and i got my B1/B2 VISA but i was still single. Now i'm married and pregnant, can i still use this same visa to go have my baby? or i have to apply for a medical visa?

If i dont have to apply for another visa, what is the likelihood of being sent back at the POE?

BTW my due date is sometime in December 2019.

Thank You
