Why do we always ignore the bigger picture in this country?

Is impersonation, love scams and other menial cyber crimes the only finicial and economic crime?

What about monopoly? Moneylaundering? Ponzi schemes? Inflation? Bribery? Breach of trust and agreement? Corruption? Illegal charges and practices from banks?terrorist financing? tax evasion? embezzlement? forgery? counterfeiting?

So many stupid things going on in this country that fall within Grey areas in this country.

My UBA bank keeps deducting 52 naira for all cards I've used and reported stolen or naira.
I've reported this issue but nothing is done against it.

Is this how you wanna fix the economy? By concentrating 95% of your resources and energy on petty fraudsters?

We're trying so hard to keep up with the pace of USA, UK, CANADA, NORWAY, SWITZERLAND and a host of other countries in battling financial and economic crimes but the truth is, even our fight is highly flawed.

Let us pause for a while, look at the bigger picture and go back to the drawing book.

I am sure you were not blind when it was reported here that a money launderer and a ponzi scammer was arrested. I am sure you will blind to that part so you can accuse them. EFCC will catch you one day.

In as much as ur take on yahoo yahoo is great
I am thrilled at how this politically correct statement has gained traction on our minds
The sentence of HOLDING OUR LEADERS ACCOUNTABLE
how do u do that
If u give me a signed cheque
Do u hope I don't clean out ur account wen u know I may or may not
My point is
U gave the leaders immunity clause
And expect them to not spend all the allocation
So how do u hold a man accountable when he has immunity clause and has the power to erase it if he has second term
And even if he doesn't
He now has enough money to hire SANs to purse his case or belongs to a ruling party which won't want to go after him
You are right my brother. But citizen mass action has crippled and toppled irresponsible systems worldwide. Nigerians are too docile. Mass civil disobedience will bring down this irresponsible system. Look at Sudan, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, etc. The list is endless. We just are too engrossed in thinking out how to make it fraudulently that are house is on fire.

LoL this guy here is a fool, WHO YOU WAN HOLD ?
Lol. I want us to hold our leaders accountable and force them out when they cease to be productive. Look at Sudan, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, etc. They are human beings. They changed irresponsible systems. When leaders become aware of the power of the masses, they will become more in tune with the needs of the masses.

....if lack of jobs is the cause of the Yahoo boys syndrome why are youths in poorer countries with worst economic situations compared to Nigeria not engaged in internet fraud like that of Nigeria. Some people with average paying jobs still see the yahoo fraud as lucrative, unemployment is not an excuse because there are legitimate ways to put in your IT skills e.g freelancing not Internet fraud...it's the "get rich fast mentality" that is the cause...Our government is not doing good but that shouldn't be an excuse for engaging in crime...there is no difference between internet fraud and stealing that's why they are treated as thieves anywhere in the world ...

90% of those idiot involve in yahoo scam are graduates. Unemployment is the caused oga. I don't support them in anyway but the government should focus on solutions.

I'm talking about statistics and how they should increase their efficiency in policing economic and financial crimes.

If our government weren't asleep on their watch, they will realize that yahoo yahoo is the least of the social vices plaguing these untrained youths of nowadays. Number one problem is drug abuse. The drug culture is spreading like wild fire among teens and tertiary students. Many of them are now on one drug or another, from weed, to sniff, to heroine, you name it. They even devised new slangs to cover it up; you will hear them say things like "loud". Worst part is it's not just a boys thing anymore, even girls are involved in all this rubbish now. From drugs to alcoholism to night life craze. "Druggies" everywhere. The society is raising a generation of druggists that are useless to themselves and useless to society. Lazy and irresponsible youths looking for the easy way out, wanting to live large by stealing, youths that think being a crook means you're sharp. That's what is pushing them to more crime. Then another problem is the celeb culture that is pushing them to embrace the lives of a criminal, because lots of all these Nigeria celebs portray a criminal lifestyle to the youths and they are embracing it in the name of being fans. Another major problem is foolishness. Many youths today are just inherently foolish, because many of them lack proper home training and exposure. The other day I was driving and saw 2 young teen boys at the bus stop standing in the rain just directly in front of 2 large transformers that were exposed. Now if they get electrocuted, some people will blame village people, but the problem is many of the teens of today are so foolish that they can't even recognize danger if it was standing right in front of their faces. They don't know the difference between bold and stupidity. A cockroach that jumps on me is not bold, that cockroach is stupid because I will kill it. Same way they jump on internet crime thinking they are sharp, but they are not sharp, they are just fortunate they are dealing with stupid-er people.

Smh
All what you just typed is gibberish, Sir.......if the country is good,no one will dare try to engage in any bad act.

No job, poor education, bad economy, bad roads and many others,,,,so how do you want people to survive... At least, if one should manage to eat in a day, you'll spend nothing less than #1,000 , no job or legit way to get money and you expect youths not to misbehave

Let's be sincere
Don't be bias

Or Sudan that has agreed that the same generals stays till 3yrs for a transition

You are again right. New wine in old skin. But we can be proactive and learn from others' mistakes, hit at the core of the problem - the constitution. That Governments could be toppled is one thing, then bringing in responsible change is another. Both are attainable if there is the will. Thanks for this enlightenment.
