AgreatMan:The bolded doesn't hold water. So it's all CEOs that are rich? Common! |
| Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by AgreatMan: 5:43pm On May 18, 2019 |
Time2win:You can call yourself a CEO to a road side vendor, no probs. But if u call yourself a CEO to a VO who earns around 10M naira per year n u can't pay your own school fees, u will look a lot out of your mind. How can I be making 10 or 20 times of your income and u r telling me that u r a CEO? If u also say u CEO, where is d board of directors u reporting to? I am a business owner. I own a startup. I own an agro business. These are decent n honest answers. U can't just use a word loosely especially to the wrong person. |

AgreatMan:Where did he mention he earns 10m naira yearly. You are just assuming. Two to three people can form a company, you don't know what the company is into. They may be rendering a service and maybe don't earn up to 4m naira yearly. Don't just assume that it's all CEOs that earn big. That statement doesnt hold water at all |
| Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by Brown2Green(m): 6:11pm On May 18, 2019 |
AgreatMan:This is very valid from my point of view. When the VO asks who's funding, they expect within their subconsciousness to hear 'myself' or 'myself and bla bla '. |
| Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by Time2win(m): 6:17pm On May 18, 2019 |
Brown2Green:Another assumption. Only few fund themselves for US education cos it's very expensive. |

AgreatMan:I m actually a Fashion designer , I started my brand in 2015. And I filled 2015 on my ds160. Can I still regarded as a startup |

Time2win:I don't know where u got that from, certainly not from my comments except u mixed my words. A CEO and an Entrepreneur r two different things. An entrepreneur starts a business n absorb d gain or loss. If the business is successful (not necessarily profitable), they need more workers n major shareholders will appoint someone in the board of directors. A CEO's job is to oversea d entire business like d finance department, products development, HR, logistics n supply chain, legal etc n report to the board. Now if u are calling yourself a CEO, it means you r overseeing a pretty big business and yes, u will be making quite some money. Uber is neck-deep in debt but it didn't affects their CEO's $45M paycheck in 2018. Saying u r a CEO n saying u can't pay your own fees are two things that don't work together. Now, saying that in front of a VO who is probably cashing-out a lot more than is a terrible idea. Yes, it is your business. Yes, u started it with your sweat n took all d risk. But u r a business owner or an an entrepreneur, not a CEO yet. |

AgreatMan:Clearly shows you don't know what a CEO is. Also you can't differentiate a big company and a small company, a business and a company. I won't say this again, it's not all CEOs that are rich enough to cough out 7m to 15m naira for USA tuition fees. |

I have seen a transcript on this platform where a person used a similar factor as an home tie to obtain her visa. The transcript was smooth and sweet. You just have to rework your transcript and get things right, I wish you all the best. Boyofgrace: |

My follow F1 , should I go to embassy with a statement of account that is written in French? I don’t want to translate it to English tho, cause I don’t want the VO to see it as Fraud. Or should I go ahead to translate it to English? What will the VO think if she/he finds out the bank statement is from a French country? Remember the bank statement is coming from a French Country, and also the bank refused to translate it to English. Thanks! |

| Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by jossywayne(m): 9:09pm On May 18, 2019 |
Time2win:Figures are in numbers, with a sign like +2.346.673.00 , +500.00 , +1.567.889.00 Let’s leave the figures and talk about the words, cause with the words you will understand what the figures means and what it’s stands for. |

GOD IS FAITHFULL!!! I'm a silent reader here. In fact Just started following this thread 4 days ago. My interview was yesterday morning. Below is my transcript: **it's long o. She asks for my passport and I give her both passport and i20. VO: so ur going to jhu. Did you get a scholarship or?? Me: no. My parents and aunt are funding. She then asks for the financial documents and i gave her. She asks for what my parents do while going through them. Starting with my dad's. VO: he didn't have much in the account initially. Then she scans it through to the end and says ok. VO: How much do you have? This threw me off balance as I wasn't expecting this kind of question since I'm not sponsoring myself. Me: emm, I have a car that costs about... **she interrupts VO: no how much do you have in the bank Me: about 600k Wasn't sure whether to mention a very high amount or lower. Didn't know which would favor me. VO: when was the last time you went to the US Me: last year VO: what did you go there for Me: went to check out some of the schools i wanted to apply to like Emory and uc Berkeley. This is actually true. Including for vacation though. Didn't mention that. VO: so were you accepted by those schools Me: yes VO: really Me: yes Wanted to bring out the acceptance letters then she said never mind. VO: which other schools were you accepted into Me: besides the above, Tulane VO: tulane? Wow. **she nods VO: so why jhu Me: because besides the fact that it's currently the best school of Public Health in the world, it's program is shorter, then I'm at liberty to customize my degree the way I want it, especially for those of us whose interests don't fit precisely into their concentrations VO: So what are those interests Me: i love infectious diseases and... ** she interrupts smiling very heartily VO: u love infectious diseases Me: **smiling back over heartily. Yes and reproductive health VO: so what will you do when you return Me: I just explained something on health in Nigeria... Can't remember exactly. Then about my documents, I couldn't hear her well, but what I could pick was VO: I'm giving this to our fraudulent bla bla team. If anything fraudulent is found in the accounts you'd be barred from entering the US for life. Are you giving me the permission to go ahead? Me: no problem. It's fine VO: assuming there's no fraud in them, here She gives me 2 white papers. A smaller one with congratulations on your student visa bla bla bla A bigger one with how to retrieve my passport. See ehn it was just God. Someone was denied for Stanford University. Another for Boston. One for glaring health reasons. All denied. Couldn't pay attention to more than these coz I was busy working on my nerves before my turn. I was shivering, my heart was racing and my teeth were cluttering. I'm extremely grateful to God and to you nairalanders. God answered my prayers and You guys were very helpful. Thanks. |

mojeezy:Congrats on your visa .... However what do you plan to do after graduation. MPH from JHU is one of those course you spend a lot of money and get very little in return from the whole waka. To be honest i wouldnt go there to do MPH except if i had funding |
| Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by Time2win(m): 11:00pm On May 18, 2019 |
mojeezy:Congratulations! That Stanford person that was denied, was he/she funded by the school. Cos this ivy league tuition fees are very expensive if you are not funded. |
