JayKayMaybachz:The tactics was nothing different from what we play now. The ingenuity of the forward players helped us to score three goals. Nani, Berbatov and I think Scholes who provided the Assists the match. I am tempted to say Ferguson used to do juju because Wolfsburg were far better and missed clear cut chances. We just parked the bus and relied on the dribbling of Nani and co to kill on the counter. |

After watching the depth of Man City squad and looking at how injury affects us season after season, I want to suggest we should not sell players. If you select our worst 11 from the current squad, they cannot lose 6-0 to Man City. The worst will be 2-0 or 3-1. The club should retain all players and add to them. When injury crisis hit, we should have players who can hold their own against the best as back ups. What we have had since SAF left is falling back to reserve players or inexperienced players when injury hit and the result has always been disaster. After we have stabilize, those who will want to leave for lack of much game time can go, and those who we want to sell can be sold. |

Having a squad of many experienced players also create competition. When you know the squad is lean and your rival player for the position is injured, you tend to relax. But when three strong players are fighting for one spot, everyone tries to be at their best. No one tells you to cover 12km every game and also do some meaningful sprinting. Every time I see our players escorting opponents in the midfield. I wonder if that is the tactics. We need to keep buying players who can beat a man in the attacking zone. If you have three fast dribblers like that in attack and midfielders with good ball control, why we will not contest for the title. |

elampiro:how will you balance the wage bill? You can't have players earning 150k$+ as merely reserves. What then will the guys playing week in week out earn? |

elampiro:Them go too beat una !!! Chelsea 6-0 go be like bobo hljuice compared to the annihilation that will be unearthed on your mediocre worst eleven |

elampiro:Have you looked at the wage bill? How much these guys are currently earning or asking for? |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 10:25am On May 21, 2019 |
ChristineC:The wage bill is a burden we should carry one more season. Those who just signed one year extension, I believe their wages dropped. We need a stable platform to build on. |

I actually believed if we had used Fellaini instead of Perreira and sometimes Valencia in place of Dalot, we would have finished top four and go far in the FA cup. There should be gradual transformation except when we get an exceptional talent for a position. |

elampiro:What do you mean by “gradual” transformation? Renewing the contracts of non performing substandard players? Holding on to septuagenarians? |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by MRTA7: 11:32am On May 21, 2019 |
elampiro:I agree with that but up to a certain extent. We can't continue doing the same thing and expect improvement. And we can't base decisions on if this one person is fit what would happen. For the past 6 years, the core of these players have failed us and have shown time and time again that they're not good enough for the top level. We need stability but you can't build a house on paper you need a strong base to build on. We need that strong base in place first. Even the Mentality around the team is all wrong so its best to tear it up and start again properly. Fact is the core of this squad will not get us to where we want to be. So doubling down on the past isn't the way to fix it. Thats my view anyways. |

James agrees personal terms with Man Utd Swansea winger Daniel James has agreed personal terms with Manchester United, Sky Sports News understands. The two clubs are yet to agree a deal, contrary to reports, but talks are continuing and James is set to become United's first signing of the summer |

| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 3:41pm On May 21, 2019 |
Leyqute:Who are those players? Same players who helped us finished 2nd with 81 points a year ago ago? Last year, Matic, Valencia, Smalling, Young and Lukaku were the most regular players and we finished second. Even Ajax still has a 35 years old. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 3:45pm On May 21, 2019 |
MRTA7:Are you ready to wait for another 3,4,5,6 years hoping to build a team that can even withstand Arsenal? My thinking is that we should keep what we have and improve on it. If you have Messi playing number 10, then Lingard, become squad players in case Messi is injured. Not having to call on one Chonogong from under 18. Lol |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 4:26pm On May 21, 2019 |
elampiro:In that time they were 2 years younger. 90% of the players you listed are dead woods. Most of them have tired legs or just aren’t fit. This is evidenced in their performances in the just concluded season. It was excruciatingly poor and mediocre. I’d let Valencia and Young go while reducing the first-team appearances of Matic. The only way he can play well is if he is well rested. Smalling should be a squad player for Europa league and dead rubber matches. Only Lukaku should have a chance at regular first team footballer, and even that should be based on a number of conditions. |

elampiro:How early do you think we’ll be able to challenge for the title if your suggestions are taken seriously? |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 4:41pm On May 21, 2019 |
elampiro:How many successful teams in Europe parade an aging squad? What is the average age of Ajax’s first 11? What is Man Utd’s? Is Ajax’s 35 year old player as useless as Young and Valencia? How many players in Ajax’s squad are older than 28? How many in Man Utd’s are? |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 4:47pm On May 21, 2019 |
Leyqute:We stand nothing to lose on the field of play keeping the players we have now and still bringing in those we have to bring. But we have so much to lose if the players we bring in have no back ups and some are flops. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 4:48pm On May 21, 2019 |
Leyqute:The average age of our stating eleven is low. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 4:54pm On May 21, 2019 |
Leyqute:Let there be an upgrade and proper backup on the 'deadwood' players first. It is more risky to scatter and start from no foundation. The coaches might also not want to risk that. I can't bear being in mid table next season because new players are adapting like Di Maria and Falcao. 2017/2018, when we finished 2nd many people felt those old players caused us more points. This season, their appearances were limited and we finished far worse. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 5:01pm On May 21, 2019 |
elampiro:We have much to lose if Smalling, Young, Jones, Matic are regular starters next season. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 5:10pm On May 21, 2019 |
elampiro:No, it isn’t. Young-33 Smalling-29 Lindelof-24 Shaw-23 Matic-30 Pogba-26 Herrera-29 Lingard-27 Martial-23 Rashford-21 Lukaku-26 Sanchez-30 Jones-26 Mata-31 Dalot-20 or so These are the players who featured most for Utd last season. What’s the average age? 27 years. How low is that? |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by MRTA7: 5:12pm On May 21, 2019 |
elampiro:At this rate we won't be challenging for top 4 in those years anyway. I'm not advocating to sell 10 - 15 players. But theres probably aleast 4/5 that needs to be replaced in the starting lineup and some of those high earners not good enough to start can be replaced by academy players deemed good enough. |
