The previous government and PDP generally don't understand about mass communication, media management and propaganda. Something that APC does so well even though they are actually doing much less than PDP but stealing more money.

Mass communication or fabricated narratives cannot generate what you never achieved, the projects that you did not execute or complete or erase the ones that you abandoned for decades.

After accumulating huge oil money for 16 years and still didn't start and complete the so-called project that was your idea while another man showed up 16 years later to start and complete it in less than 3 years with little funds and smaller budget, you are obviously incompetent.

Your ideas on the railway drawing board cannot move passengers, goods and services from point A to point B unless you are competent enough to start and complete the project instead of abandoning the project.

Abandoning projects meant to serve the people is not competence, it's an abdication of responsibilities and official incompetence.

This should be obvious to everyone. If the goods are bound for the dry port the traffic will follow. I would be surprised if they haven't built access roads to facilitate the dry port. How long will the construction from Ibadan to kano take?

Doubt there's an access road ready, even though theyve been planning an inland port for a very long time. Now they will make it all seem very urgent and hike the cost as usual.

Ibadan to Kano will take a very long time, the next segement is Kano-Kaduna which is about 300km, then Ibadan to Abuja(im sure this is also broken into segments) if you consider Lagos-Ibadan 180KM took a very 'serious' FG 2.5-3years. I understand the chinese counterpart are pushing for the whole Ibadan-Kano segment at once but I doubt the govt can find the funds without interrupting works. Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is still trudging along after all these years

What is stopping them from completing the road but they are making so much noise about the half done railways that were contracted out by the previous administration?
What could be the problem

OBJ awarded the first contract for the project back in 2006 and GEJ re-awarded or did another MOU in 2012, now, of what use is any awarded contract that you can not start and complete?

Is awarding and abandoning contracts for decades an achievement and something to beat chest with?

I don't know why you people love to hold up failure as a badge of honour.

Stop wasting your time, I don't consume or subscribe to what your kind peddle on the internet because it's rubbish and assault on our intelligence.

You are free to call the folks and the party that accumulated the largest revenue in Nigeria's history and still achieved nothing after 16 years in office your hero and saviour, but you can not convince me that the current administration and the folks that started and completed a major rail project in less than 3 years are worse than the party and the people that did not complete any rail project and even abandoned the now completed Warri Itakpe rail project for 30 years.

We don't have to go back and forth, hail and praise your incompetent and underachieving heroes all you want, just keep it to yourself.

What rail has been completed in less than 3yrs? The govt is rounding up four years next week and the rail hasn't been completed so what are you talking abt? If you think the PDP achieved nothing, I'll say that's how you wish to see it. But you should know that APC has not done any better by whatever yardstick you may wish to measure governance. Don't worry about what I wish to see, just prove me wrong by showing us the rail projects they started and completed while in office for 16 years.

Lagos Ibadan rail project commenced in 2017 and slated to be completed this year, 2019.

Please explain to us why this project was abandoned and never even see the light of the day since 13 years ago when OBJ awarded the first contract?

You have a great opportunity to show us the wonderful rail and other major projects the PDP started and completed in less than 3 years.

You live in Nigeria, but you missed the fact that VP Osinbajo flagged off the rail project in 2017 and not in 2015?

You live in Nigeria, but you still don't know for a fact that the PDP awarded the first contract for this project 13 years ago and totally left and abandoned the project on the drawing board?

You in Nigerian and you still did not know for a fact that past governments including the PDP abandoned Warri Itakpe railway for 30 years before the current administration completed the project in less than 3 years?

Most of these politicians are major shareholders of Julius Berger. you rarely hear of a project awarded to Julius Berger that is completed on time and budget! funny enough you will never hear anything from the contractors themselves, just politicians telling us all the excuses on their behalf- Nigerian engineers still using Rainfall as an excuse to delay projects, the usual slow release of funds etc

Most of the equipment for the railways were imported
doubt there is anything JB and RCC needs to import for road construction yet they will tell you how 'technical' it is

Like I told you before, all these rail projects were part of the rail masterplan conceived by OBJ in 2005. It was broken segments by GEJ in 2011 due to funding issues which even this adminstration is battling with so talk of abandonment does not exist except in your mind.

BTw, Abuja to Kaduna was started in 2011 and completed in 2014.
That osinbajo flagged off Lag to Ibadan segment is a direct consequence of the already existing contract with CCECC since the time of OBJ and GEJ.

I thought that with the corruption fight that Julius Berger story would have changed but it obviously has not.
The imported railways equipment seems to confirm that the contract was in place and paid for by the previous administration. Can this be true

You are wrong, the ongoing Lagos Ibadan railway is a new contract with a dfferent price tag.

1. The contract for Lagos Ibadan railway was first awarded in 2006 by OBJ, but OBJ refused to start the project, he left it for dead on the drawing board.

2. GEJ re-awarded the same project in 2012, but he refused to start the project, he left it for dead on the drawing board.

3. The contract was renegotiated and re-awarded at a reduced price by Amaechi under the current administration.

Awarded and awarded contracts left for dead on the drawing board or abandoned for decades is of no use to the society, it's called incompetent and dereliction of duty.

I hope you don't end up in any official position charged with such responsibilities since the culture of incompetence and abandoning projects tickles your fancy.

That is why they need the lies and propaganda to cover up their looting and performance failures.
Since 1999, that is what Tinubu and APC have always done. Samples below on this topic.

kodded:
The Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, has stated that he never knew that the railways means of transportation still existed in Nigeria.

Amaechi made this remark on Tuesday when he and other officials of the ministry toured facilities of the Nigeria Railways Corporation, NRC, in Lagos.

He disclosed the intention of the Federal Government to concentrate on building standard gauge railway lines that would be beneficial to the country’s status as a developing economy.

His words: “In fact, I think we have a problem; most people don’t believe that the railway transport is functioning in Nigeria. I didn’t even know, until I started this tour, I never knew that the railway was functioning, it was even from his (MD’s) speech that I learnt that there are some coaches or services that go to Kano or Port Harcourt or elsewhere.

“The federal government will concentrate on standard gauge of the railways, because it is critical that Nigeria becomes one of the countries founded on standard gauge. The only time I had seen railways (trains) or the coaches was one or two days in Lagos, and I thought it started from the beginning of Lagos to the end of Lagos.

“So we need to make people become more aware that the narrow gauge is working, and that people can still use it to travel around that country. There was a joke somebody told me that it takes three days to reach Kano from Lagos on the narrow gauge, and when I asked the managing director of NRC, he said no, it takes one and half days; I said: ‘what’s the difference between three days and one and a half days?’ So that is why the government has to re-emphasize on the need for the construction of the standard gauge to help boost the economy,” the minister stated.

Looks like you also need some education about federal allocation formula which gives states 43% (including the 20% for LGAs that they hijack) and only 53% to the federal government.
You should also know that the price of oil started dropping in 2012 hence the 36 state governors were putting pressure to cushion the effect with ECA draw downs since we all rejected their subsidy removal, which the dullard has now implemented.

FG, States, LGs Share N568.4 Billion for Oct
15 NOVEMBER 2013

Also, $1billion was proposed for distribution to complement shortfall in expected revenue." The $1billion is a compromise by the FG over its words in September not to augment shortfalls anymore.

Responding to the presentation, the chairman of the States Commissioners of Finance and Ebonyi State Commissioner of Finance, Mr Timothy Odaah, lamented that the statutory allocation was getting smaller and smaller. "It appears this is the worst in terms of returns. This is the least in allocations as far as this year is concerned. We are mourning the dearth of funds and this is a wakeup call for states and local governments to buoy up their internally generated revenue."

While appreciating the "magnanimity" of President Goodluck Jonathan to approve the $1billion from the excess crude account and to be shared among the federal, state and local governments, Odaah expressed disappointment with the returns made by the NNPC.

He said that the states had requested for $2bn to complement for the shortfall in revenue but got only $1billion. In September, Odaah and fellow commissioners had walked out of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) when the federal government said that the framework of the 2013 budget was no longer realistic and it won't augment shortfall in revenue. Odaah raised issues with the statutory allocations of previous months.

What warped logic are you using to say that 70%/80% completed projects are abandoned
You go school at all? Abi you be runaway like barawo bubu who joined the army on his principal's recommendation instead of writing his final exams? What a chronic dullard!

Previous Govts Initiated ‘Most Of The Things This Administration Is Doing’ – Adesina

A majority of the projects the Muhammadu Buhari administration is working on was inherited from previous administrations, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity has said.

Mr Femi Adesina said this when he appeared on Channels Television’s special Independence anniversary programme on Sunday.

“Most of the things this administration is doing – 60 to 70 percent of them – were initiated by previous governments,” he said.

“That shows you that in the past a government will come and say ‘this is not our project’ And it will discard what was being done and start fresh ones.”

As a result, Mr Adesina said there are many half and quarter-completed abandoned projects.
But rather than abandon the project, he explained that the current administration will complete it.

An example is the Abuja-Kaduna rail project which the Presidential aide said was up to maybe 60 to 70 percent complete when the last administration left.

Amaechi apologises to Nigerians over suspension of free Iju-Abeokuta train ride

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi on Friday apologised to Nigerians over the suspension of the Iju-Abeokuta free train ride during the 2019 general elections.

Amaechi tendered the apology during the monthly rail inspection of the Lagos-Ibadan modernisation project in Ibadan.

He said that the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) suspended the three months free train ride due to security and safety of passengers.

“It was suspended by the Chinese and the excuse they gave me was that they cannot allow it run because of safety, since they have not completed the second line but they are almost through with it.

“It is almost completed from Iju to Abeokuta. I want to apologise to Nigerians that they suspended it when they left the country, which I didn’t envisage, they will go back soon,” Amechi said.

FG flags off Lagos-Abeokuta train service, offers 3-month-free ride
8th February 2019

The Federal government says it will flag off the Lagos-Abeokuta railway transport and offer passengers three- months-free-of-charge service.

Riding from Iju in Lagos State to Abeokuta in Ogun State to test the service were Governor Ibikunle Amosun, Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; Chairman, Senate Committee on Land Transport, Gbenga Ashafa and some members of the National Assembly among others.

On ground to receive the party on arrival were Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka; Alake of Egba land, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, other traditional rulers and pockets of crowd that entertained the visitors, singing and dancing.

Speaking during the ceremony, Amaechi commended the Abeokuta community for making the execution of the project hitch-free, noting that they were the only ones in Nigeria that did not demand compensation.

“This is not a commissioning ceremony. We just decided to put the train on the track to convey passengers for three months free of charge. We are done here and we are grateful that Ogun State government organised this to welcome the third standard gauge in Nigeria. Itakpe-Warri is the first while Abuja-Kaduna is the second.

“The first tunnel in Nigeria is in Ogun State. This work is not free of charge, you will have to pay for it and the only way to pay is for you to vote. If you want us to take the project from Ibadan to Kano, then we need your vote.

“Vote for APC, that is all we are asking for but this train will run from Saturday free of charge and I will compel them to do about three trips a day so that more persons can go to work in the morning and come back in the evening.

“We are also trying to build our stations and in a year’s time, we would have finished the stations and everything will be running normally and then you will be paying your money,” he said, promising to fix some of the issues raised by community members that the rail project passed through.

Post all the rubbish you like, it's still a stated and completed railway in less than 3 years, something your PDP masters could not do in 16 years.

Why are you even ranting over the completion date? The question is, why was it abandoned and never started by the PDP while in power for 16 years?

Did you specify Lagos Ibadan railway in your post that I replied
Were you talking about PDP abandoning a project that was started in 2017?
Trying to be clever by half only shows you to not be sane and intelligent despite your best efforts. Sorry.

It doesn't matter because the PDP did not complete any rail projects while in power for 16 years.

They abandoned Warri Itakpe railway for 30 years, the current administration completed it in less than 3 years.

Dance around and post all the irrelevant rubbish you desire, the PDP is still a lazy, incompetent and useless party with little or nothing to show for their 16 years in offie.

That is why they need the lies and propaganda to cover up their looting and performance failures.
Since 1999, that is what Tinubu and APC have always done. Samples below on this topic.

I woke up as early as 5am this morning in order to catch the train by 7am. On reaching the Enugu train station, we waited for the train till some minutes past 8am before it arrived from Kafanchan where it started it's journey. We boarded the train and left for port Harcourt meanwhile I was going to Aba.

The Locomotive train first stopped at Agabani sub-station to pick four(4) passengers and left immediately but before we could know what is happening, two(2) coaches from the train DERAILED(moved off tracks) and that was when I know say yawa don gas!

They had to call Engineers from Enugu station who came after about 40mins with their Jacks to pull the coaches back to track. We thought it's something that will take just like an hour but up till 3:42pm, it was not yet fixed.

It was a horrible experience today cos one of the Engineers lost four of his fingers today when the jack use in lifting the coaches mistakenly slipped off and the heavy duty coach landed on the guys fingers.... it took up to 5mins before the could pull it up but by then, the guys fingers were gone cos it flattened and crushed the bones. when I saw what happened, I simply carried my bag and left the train. I pray the guy gets well soon and government should look into his case.

I have to forfeit my money and go back to Enugu with bus.

Please government should know how best to improve the train situation in Nigeria cos with what I saw today, we still have a long way to go.
