That means 100+25=125%

If 125% = $2000
100% = $X
X =(100 x 2000)/125= $1600

If you work with the above you will get original price/cost price =$1600

Ok, let me clarify you with another approach..
If you think he bought the painting for $1500, it's wrong. They said he made a profit of 25% (25% of the cost price). So if you're saying he bought it $1500, that means he made a profit of $500, because he sold $2000. But you see, 25% of 1500 is not 500. Instead 25% 1600 is 400 which sums up to the sales price. So the cost is price 1600 not 1500.

That's how tricky the question is. They know you will easily go for 1500 without using a formula

He already sold the stuff so Selling price is 2000 and he made 25% profit.... If the cost price is X, since he is gaining 25% then 125% of X =2000

X = 2000 /1.25
X = 1600

If u want to check, do 25% of 1600 that gives 0.25X1600 =400

Now add 400 profit to the cost price 1600 gives 2000 as selling price.

Yes. That's the same thing with mine. Probably that is the release date. The date they promised to release the test details.
