It's a combination of bad leadership/follower mindset and a rising population. Since the government isn't living up to their responsibilities the wise thing for citizens to do is reduce their birth rate and it will make a huge difference. Even with a population of 20 million the standard of living will be much higher than what is today even if the leadership angle remains the way it is.

We have an exploding unproductive population who largely have an entitlement mentality. Nigeria is a poor country with rich potentials.

How can u "distribute" wealth to d 20m people when d reason y d 180m are poor is cos of poor distribution of wealth? D govt that u say is incompetent, what makes them incompetent? Isn't it because they sit on d wealth and refuse to distribute it? If their incompetence is measured by their inability to distribute d country's wealth with a population of 180m, how will that incompetence not still show itself even with 20m? U say d economy is poor? Y is it poor? Is it because we have 180m people? Y is chinas economy not poor? Y is China not complaining of poverty even with close to 2billion mouths 2 feed?

Let me explain myself in a very elementary way.

Let's say a group of 1000 people consists of 10 leaders and 990 followers. The group had 1 million naira to share among themselves. The corrupt leadership of 10 people takes away ₦700,000 for themselves and leaves the remaining ₦300,000 for the 990 followers of the group.

Then you have a second group of 100 people consisting of 10 leaders and 90 followers. This group also had 1 million naira to share among themselves. The corrupt leadership of 10 people takes away ₦700,000 for themselves and leaves the remaining ₦300,000 for the 90 followers of the group.

The question is, considering the fact that the level of corruption is the same among the two groups, which of the followers of the two groups above will have a better share of the distributed wealth? Is it the first group having 990 followers and sharing ₦300,000 or the second group having 90 followers and sharing ₦300,000? This should give you an idea of the importance of population control in improving the lives of citizens in a country.

In other words, if a country has bad leadership which they can't overcome, the citizens should simply adjust their birth rate to the low levels their economy can carry until they fix their leadership issues. If Haiti that you used as an example can't care for 20 million citizens, a population reduction to 1 million can actually improve their living conditions to a significant extent.

And the people in APC were imported from Jupiter Abi...this is not the Buhari I was screaming my head off for in 2014/15. He is just too weak and indecisive.
