I think it's the best mini series ever created. And I say this as someone who started researching more about the movie after watching all 5 episodes only to find its ratings.

the only thing i found interesting in chernobyl is how great they tell the story the originality of it like all is just happening in front on me but my people you cant tell someone that aint a movie lover to watch it and wait if he or she wont sleep off its boring as Bleep but im gonna finish it cos i love it but the rating can be misleading,cos for a movie that got no suspense at all its wack

I think what I found the most interesting in the script is that they start the series (ignoring the tape/suicide intro) right at the moment of the explosion, without building that up at all. I genuinely did not expect that and it seems like a rather bold choice. You have no idea who these people are, you aren't emotionally invested in them etc... It would be like having Titanic start when the ship hits the iceberg (although that's not even an apt comparison because the sinking takes forever so you have time to do character building and suspense, whereas the chernobyl explosions are separated by literally 3 seconds and then it's already over).

They really managed to pull it off well IMO. If anything the fact that you don't know who the characters are and who's going to be important really adds up to the confusion and mayhem after the explosion, every time you start to think "oh, ok, they spend some time following that guy, he's going to be import... oh he's dead".

Maybe you need to have a bit of back story about Chernobyl before watching it, idk. I was already fascinated by everything nuclear after I stumbled upon a guy name Ouchi who got exposed to lethal dosage of nuclear radiation and just the sheer brutality of how he died made me binge read about every nuclear accident known to man, including Chernobyl, Fukushima, etc.

I thought this show was incredible. DuVernay really did a phenomenal job with this mini series and I hope she just sticks to doing stuff like this and not crap like A Wrinkle in Time. So many emotions were happening while I was watching this, and as good as the first half is the second half of this show is just downright amazing IMO and an emotional rollarcoaster, especially that last episode. I always knew Jharrel Jerome had talent after seeing him in stuff like Moonlight and Mr. Mercedes, but here he just takes it to a whole other level.

The dude deserves all the awards recognition he can get as does Felicity Huffman who is just great at being such an unlikable character. Seriously, her performance was almost too convincing.
