IsaAbubakar: Who told you blackberry os died because facebook and whatsapp wiithdrew thier licences? Bros blackberry os died for many reasons but the chief culprit was because just like nokia they failed to adapt to rapidly changing times. They continued locking out everybody else from bb messenger. By the time they let go off their pride whatsapp and similar apps had already taken over. Besides that OS whas sh*it anyway. I hope you know these US software companies dont have an issue with huawei. It is their government that does. 3rd parties will develop softwares that will access those apps. If the OS makes sense and the phones are cheaper. Android will have a new threat period. Ofcourse it is not going to be easy. Its never easy to make radical change on anyrhing. They really have tough times ahead but until they make public their new OS they are still in the game bro. Its not the death of them. |

lilbest4: There is no doubt about Huawei's technological capabilities, they are growing fast and worthy of attention. I think Huawei is highly bankrolled by the Chinese government and the government of China might have an understanding with Huawei to create secret backdoors and spywares into their applications and products to achieve the agenda of China at becoming a world power. Information is highly potent power; imagine a group or country being able to aggregate the thoughts, feelings, desires, fancies, expectations and wants of people across the world by spying on their government, conversations and private lives. That is the real world power and that is what China intends to become. America saw it late but it isn't too late to ruin that effort. 1 Like |

IsaAbubakar:Have you ever programmed a software of an open system kernel before? I doubt it. If you ever do you will understand that all those softwares can be assessed from unregistered phone by masking there true origin. And nobody can unmask it. Let me give you a certain example there is a certain Chinese phone that is masked as tecno F9. It is not from tecno but no software can be able to unmask it. Imagine if they used tecno camon then you can never differentiate its handshake with those app from the real camon. The oak is designed to accept both android apps apk and any other system they plan to introduce. .rpm and .tar.gz can be assessed by any kernel of Linux. Likewise .apk and the oak system. This is not rocket science as far as you are a programmer. This is a company that has been able to program 5G network system that up to now no company/country including the US in the world was able to achieve such feat. Coding of beta version of few Gigabytes for phone will not be a challenge. The android program is actually a Linux program stripped to the core few functional kernels. The whole phone system is not up to 5% of the standard original Linux system. The Chinese company have the full capacity for software development from scratch. It Is just the android patent that google had that stop competition but with this trade war the door has opened for every one to develop their software, and now not only Chinese companies even European companies are at trade war with US check google vs Europe case. So nobody will ever rely solely on US trade policy 1 Like |

lilbest4: Anyway, I understand your concern, but the way i see it is that this is war, and in war, 'people die'. You can't just say because you are afraid that some of your people will die, therefore you will not fight a necessary war of survival. It's just like rolling back the clock to 1944 and President FD Roosevelt says he will not send American troops to storm the beaches of Normandy to fight and defeat Hitler, because he has been advised that at least 100,000 soldiers will be killed in the operation. If he had done so, maybe you and I would have been speaking German today if Hitler didn't eventually decide to exterminate the black race after conquering Britain and expanding to Africa......not to talk of the fact that even Germany itself may have still been under an oppressive regime. So war is not a good thing, but if it becomes necessary, you don't give up because some people will suffer. Even if it affects Google and Facebook (Two American companies i don't particularly like anyway), there will always be a reset after a while when the dust settles. Even after the second world war when all the destruction had happened and Japan was nearly destroyed, the same Japan has become one of America's largest trading partner. So, this is a necessary fight that Trump has gotten into that will leave both parties in a better relationship after the fight has ended. We only don't know when the fight will end, but when it does, the relationship will be better because nobody will be feeling cheated again 2 Likes |

lilbest4: Yeah, I agree with you on the bold words but other countries can also spy on the Americans through these open source and versatile apps, maybe with limitations. The challenge with China is that they want to isolate their own lives, conversations and governance from the world yet have access to spy on the conversations, private lives and government of the world. America is probably more crossed with China because the bulk of the technologies the Chinese improved on originated from American companies transfer of knowledge and technology to their citizens who worked with them and of course, reverse engineering. |

Ngasky:I'm a developer so i know of what you're talking about that's why a pc will read tecno camon cx but yet you cannot install it the firmware of the original tecno cx the market name for it is clone or copy back to the topic a question for you since android run on Linux kernel and we know that Linux is an OS of its own and own by US my question is don't you think that they'll restrict their open source licenses to these Chinese? see bro your own idea of cloaking might work for them but let me tell you i hope you know that you're dealing with a technology inclined country (the best technology inclined country) what makes you think that they won't unmasked whatever coding blah blah blah huawei might have done? I hope you're not underestimating a country that is currently running the most secure payment processors (PayPal and the rest) despite the daily top notch hackers threats. Bro if creating a new os that'll rival android is that easy companies like Samsung Microsoft etc would have excelled the thing is that android itself is not stagnant they keep improving and adapting because they don't want any rivals that'll do better than them and with their developmental phases i don't see them getting dethroned anytime soon. Bro for huawei to rival android they have to come up with a different thing and different app extension any other thing will be just a glorified failed android OS remember blackberry tried to support android apps too but failed woefully and didn't pull through. las las US will remove the ban trust me they just want to show huawei who's the boss 2 Likes |

IsaAbubakar: I'm not a software developer, I'm a realist and I see the positive side of things, If John Chen can develop blackberry 10 OS with fluid apps on few years. What stops the big dogs (Huawei) from creating theirs. By the way is apple also using Linux? Truth be told, When blackberry 10 OS was launched, I loved it. I don't really know what happened to Mr. Chen o. But it would have been a master piece if it wasn't discontinued and if apps where developed for the device properly. I can't wait for The Oak OS by Huawei, Cuz if it manages to be successful, then the competition will be real for Android and IOS, cuz most Chinese phone will want to use it as well. |

IsaAbubakar: Isa, your blood dey hot! I think one of the problems we have in this part of the world is being overly loyal to US. Fine, they are the biggest economy, creates an environment to succeed and have the tendency to control the world market but do you know that sometimes, they survive by bullying, intimidation and media hype. Do you also know China is the fastest growing economy and second only to the same US. Without mincing words, what broke the camel's back is the 5G launch; no supreme power will allow a competitor thrive and US knows whom they are mindful of when the technology game is on course. Back to your stance. What it takes for an OS to be up and running is the technology, awareness, market, improvement and China has them all; every other attribute is linked to it. China is number 1 in reverse technology and second to none in improving on such prototype. If the war continues, US will win in a short term but with persistence and doggedness, Huawei or Chinese developed OS will become a very strong competitor for android! Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram that you mentioned are owned by the same company; Facebook which can go down and lose trust with a hack into their system; difficult but not impossible. Do you know that Facebook is not used in China (illegal) and some other countries, you can't make Whatsapp call in some countries too (UAE used to be one, don't know if the ban is still in place), yet they survive even in the social media circle. Do u also know that Facebook is facing some privacy issues even within it's origin country and some users have stated their discomfort in continuing with their services. Now go to the game of numbers, out of the world's population of over 7.7 Billion, China takes 1.4b, india takes 1.3b, US takes 400million. By continent, Asia takes 4billion, Africa takes 1billion, North America takes less than 500million, Europe 700 or so. Wechat boasts of over 1 billion users and Whatsapp is over 2 billion. What would happen if Huawei develops a competitive OS is that China and Chinese companies who are known to form allegiance with their own and also get support from their country is to get alternatives for those popular US developer apps you mentioned (which are already available), market them as in-built apps in their newer phones and encourage users to use them. As a matter of fact, I used Wechat even before I got to know of Whatsapp. And by the time I go to the market to buy a budget friendly phone, only to see all phones within my budget are Chinese phones running Chinese OS, I either increase my budget or won't own a phone but how many people are willing to pay more? It will take time but knowing that they have the market and capacity to compete, they will keep keeping on. If Dike buys a Chinese phone, Dare buys a Chinese phone, Aliyu buys a Chinese phone, they can communicate with the apps in the Chinese phone and Tom who is their friend will be tempted to use the same medium to communicate. Meanwhile, the Igbo man whose suppliers are in China will automatically switch to the Chinese phone to facilitate trade. That's how it expands. think of how Tecno became a force to reckon with in Nigeria Since variety is the spice of life, Chinese tech companies would offer users alternative means of communication (in that regard) to beef up the competition. Till tomorrow, Asians and Africans would still buy cheaper Chinese phones more than the expensive US/UK/Euro made phones, hence, more market for China. 1 Like |

I understand the point those who are arguing against Huawei are making regarding apps like FB, WhatsApp and the likes. However, if the Oak OS is good enough, expect the Chinese to develop apps that'll rival what we have now, they have the market and the big phone manufacturers, all the Chinese government will do is make it compulsory for other Chinese firms to use the Oak OS and the apps that comes with it. The end game is price of the phones, Africans will easily opt for the cheaper device regardless of the absence of FB, Twitter and Co. As more people use their apps, that how popular and acceptable they'll become and they just might phase out what we think is the standard now. You don't use all your force to kill off a rival who you can easily coexist with because emerging competitors will come prepared and might just see you lose relevance. 1 Like |

IsaAbubakar: You just repertoire my mind, Dude don't seems to understand that growing your economy to compete at the international level is not achievable through intra trade investment alone, depending solely on income from local trading will create for you a long term trade deficit and blunt your competitive edge. Income from international trade and broad based investment from multinational companies is what grows the economy fast. If China should disengage and bank on their population strength alone, they'll soon retard and in a chaperon go less or worse than their previous position. Where were they for all the years they refuse to liberalise their economy? 3 Likes |
