I have tried to. It is something I grew up with. I have never been able to swallow. I will choke if I do. Besides, the taste of the pudding is in the 'chewing'.

I used to fight with my 4 years old duaghter to swallow without chewing, but it seems to be a futile effort coz she can't swallow without chewing. I see it as a bad eating habit.

Its a personality thing not a trait thing,my folks are real time swallowers but I just can't swallow without chewing

Funny enough, i dont chew anything.
Even food like rice, beans, spaghetti, noodles and other are direct swallow,
but yam, meat and fish i only break down with my teeth twice or thrice and then swallow.
Eating is stressful, i let the stomach do the stress.

I wasn’t born or brought up in Nigeria, don't think I even knew about the term ‘swallow’ until I joined Nairaland, so to me, it was just food and naturally I chewed. Textures of swallows are usually soft but not as soft as say pap/ogi for example where you would instinctively swallow, lol chill

Trust me,if you grew up chewing your swallow you would have no problem with your question because it makes no difference, or maybe our taste buds are more advanced than yours thats why we chew to Dawes it down before injesting.

For swallows, somehow I manage to separate the soup from the mould of swallow once in my mouth � the mould is swallowed while I chew the soup. This way I never swallow bone.

1. having good manners but suffering bones injuring the throat or sitting majestically across your throat or
2. simply throwing away the manners and having peace of mind, knowing that every bone shall be crushed ... all thanks to grand master chewy ...

As for me and my house, we shall continue to chew ... though not loudly ... better safe than sorry ....
