MKO ran a very inspiring campaign. The major focus of his campaign was farewell to poverty and almost every Nigerian keyed into his message. We’ve not seen any inspirational campaign for president since then. This particular jingle is very memorable. Thanks to Buhari for finally recognizing June 12 as Nigeria’s democracy day. The sacrifice of MKO will forever be recognized.

Some children on that clip are fathers and mothers now.

The brevity of the life of man.

Live well.

I never saw Abiola as a savior though.

Though he was denied his mandate.

The president we never had.
Obasanjo rode on his ill luck to rule this country.
The Northern cabals wouldn't have allowed that but they needed to pacify the South Westerners cos it was obvious MKO was robbed.

Agree he was not the messiah, and agree he won't have made things better.

But thanks to the Army subverting people's democratic cholce...we got five more years of harsh millitary rule..before we got to democracy.

You know, one thing about democracy, when you don't win, you accept your losses and move on. People like me...all of our leaders since 1999 have not been my choice. Is Buhari or Obasanjo the best Nigeria could do? Even people like GEJ, and Yaradua sef?

But as for me, I just accept that they won and move on. Sadly in 1993...a large segment of the population was not couragoeus enough to fight for democracy. Instead we pretended it was all about Abiola....and we ended up with dictatorship...which would have lasted for life.

Abeg...Abiola was not the answer...but what was done to him was WRONG! And if anyone suggests we should overthrow this government, and to anyone who suggested in the past we should overthrow GEJ, Yaradua, Obasanjo, etc when they were in power...they are WRONG AS WELL. Democracy is accepting you lost, and moving on.

The same thing happened at the end of the first republic...and we ended up with 3 years of civil war. Same thing with second republic...we ended up with 15 unnecessary years of Army dictatorship.

MKO loomed larger than life then. Everywhere you turned to in Nigeria, the talk was all about MKO and his campaign. You see Abiola rice, Abiola milk, Abiola cloth etc. Almost every musician that released an album between 1992 and 1993 dedicated a significant amount of time in their album to praise sing MKO. Nigerians were very hopeful that at last, we have a messiah. People came out in huge numbers to vote on June 12. I have not seen that level of hope and believe in a presidential candidate since then.
