Shut up.

If you are too weak and desperate to play the opposition politics, you'd be too dumb and clueless to retain the ruling power.

Check out the two topmost APC leaders from both north and south. - Buhari and Tinibu.

BOTH OF THEM STAYED IN THE NIGERIAN OPPOSITION PARTIES FROM 1999 TO 2014

That's why they mustered enough stamina to take out PDP from power in the center in 2015.

Heck, South West as a region was in national opposition until 2014. (In fact since the creation of Nigeria, they had been in opposition more times than they were in the ruling parry). That's why they were able to form the first NEW and ALTERNATIVE winning alliance between the north an south outside of PDP since 1999.

Again, learn from facts before talking or just shut up.

CowHard:

The inauguration of the ninth assembly which took place on the 11th of June has come and gone but the events and proceedings are still worthy of discussion.
Senator Ahmed Lawan clinched the Senate presidency with Senator Ovie Omo-Agege clinching the deputy slot.

At the green chambers, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila clinched the speakership position while Hon Idris Ahmed Wase got the deputy speaker slot.
However, the aftermath of the NASS elections meant Igbos and South Eastern geopolitical zone got practically nothing.

The proceedings also highlighted the unpreparedness of Ndigbo in the polity and politics of Nigeria. The shameful outing brought to the fore, the lackadaisical and politics of vengeance inherent in this part of the country.

While the eventual winners of the NASS elections were vigorously campaigning and canvassing for votes, our lawmakers went holidaying, expecting to be handpicked and decorated with the winners medal.

The two high ranking senator-elects in the person of the immediate past governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha and his Imo counterpart, senator Uwajumogu who were in a better position to clinch the elective slots were tactically chased away from the national assembly complex with the court while Ndigbo watched and cheered.

Before the composition of the NASS leadership, South East had three elected senators on the platform of the ruling party APC which are Rochas Okorocha, Orji Kalu and Senator Uwajumogu of Imo north senatorial district.
But in a dramatic fashion, two out of the three elected senators had their certificates withdrawn, leaving the region with just a single member in a chamber of 109 senators.

I'm not a fan of Rochas Okorocha and his #iberiberism governance in Imo state but the role he was to play at the red chambers supersedes whatever ills that characterized the politics of Imo state.

Politics calls for a serious permutations and calculations. Gone are the days of ethnic jingoism and victim mentality.
Femi Gbajabiamila toured virtually all the states of federation canvassing for support but ours was to cheer as the only options with a brighter chance got schemed out by the very hegemonic cabals.

We readily cry of being marginalized but in the truest of the whole issue, we are the architect of our misfortune.
The South east has never hidden their hatred for the APC led federal government hence the indifference in the imbroglios that schemed out her bright prospects from the NASS leadership composition.

To compound the whole scenario, the region presented, or rather nominated senator Ike Ekweremadu for senate deputy slot. This is a senator that has held the deputy president position for a record 12 years. The same senator left a bitter taste in the mouth of the ruling party when he clinched his position through the back door at the composition of the 8th Senate.

He was rousingly defeated by his competitor thus seeing to a decline in his political influence.

At the moment, Igbos are left with no strong political force and a strong contender for the 2023 election even if it's zoned to the region.
To Ndigbo, the composition of the NASS leadership is a mere jamboree but to others, it's a warm up to the next general elections.

The dearth of politics of alignment has made the region to be more or less onlookers in the leadership composition of the federation.
At a point, we claim not be interested in the politics of the country but before one says jack, we are back crying of being marginalized.

The South west aligned, lobbied and were rewarded with ministerial portfolios despite enjoying the vice presidency slot.
Raji Fashola is the minister for works, housing and power. Three powerful portfolios!!
Where went my brothers when the food was being served?

Under the PDP, we cried, wept and wailed of marginalization. Is there anything wrong if we give the current ruling party a try? I thought they said there's no harm in trial?
Igbos, while we fight ourselves to destruction, strangers are busy scooping and taking up the slots meant for us.

One of the realest statements you have ever made.
The igbos have not benefited having their people im power.
We could have gottem a world class airport in enugu, eastem rail lines, good roads, if the igbos under the pdp had done their job.

It is our hope that this sabatical from the seat of power would ensure that igbos reevaluate politics fully and develop the region when they get the chance again.

You don't know what you have till it is gone, so that when it comes again, you would use it well.

See ehn, I only react viciously to those who decide to display idiocy on top my tribe.

The Fulani in power, how many of their people have they lifted? Yoruba were never part of civilian power since independence until partly in 1999 (OBJ wasn't Yoruba candidate) and we didn't die. The thousands of Yoruba engineers in Port Harcourt, eket, warri etc got there on merit, not because of political patronage.

There are 300 tribes in Nigeria, how many have tasted power? To hell with the power abeg.

Like I told Berem, Ekweremmadu, Tinubu and El Rufai could be finalizing a business deal tonight yet we want to be fighting over them?

Never for one day did PDP marginalize a people this openly

Power is not constant ...the number of vote that would come out from igbo land in 2023 would shock nigerians

My friend, forget that bold. Even advanced democracies struggle to get 65% voter turnout and not with the damage the no election no referendum people have caused.

APC played a zero sum game and I don't blame them. Give the seat to someone that'll decamp tomorrow? Igbo have always played the zero sum game. Now they should unleash it in 2023.

If it works, the losers will shrug it off after all it's politics. Naked wicked politics bro

It's a general malaise everywhere my brother. I myself registered in 2011 and relocated afterwards. I didn't vote in 2019 because I just refused to transfer my voter's card.

There's a general apathy concerning elections in Southern Nigeria.

See if APC think they can make igbos vote for them by trying to starve them of position and marginalise them then they have failed

People like me that supported APC in 2015 and 2019 have withdrawn their support completely

Igbo man can never i repeat never bow to intimidation ...the more u intimate him the more the resist

We vote in one direction ...thats what put us here ...trust me that same voting in one direction would bring Us out back to national politics

Lets see if north would reject the opportunity to retain power by teaming up with igbos in 2023

I laugh when people talk politic is a marathon 8 years is just a lap ...relax and learn from igbos

A northerner will not always defeat a southerner. Abiola, Obasanjo and GEJ proved it.

Even yesterday, Femi defeated Bago to clinch the Speakership and by a wide margin.

What we now call the SE of Nigeria was created 52 years ago without the FG consulting anyone in the East Central state as it was called at the time. I repeat, not one single person I know was consulted.
That is the original exclusion not the recent development at the National Assembly.

For 8 years, between May 1967 to May 1975, there was no single person from the SE in the federal cabinet. Am I correct? That is the equivalent of 2 tenures .That was exclusion.

There was a time in the early 70s that adults living in the SE must apply to the federal government for a pass if they want to move from Enugu to Abakaliki, from Owerri to Aba,from Nsukka to Onitsha or anywhere in the SE according to historian;Dr Chukwuma Opata.I think it was similar to the pass given to Blacks in South Africa to visit Johannesburg or other townships under Apartheid.
That was exclusion.

I don't want to talk about the federal government's Abandoned Properties policy but despite all this initial exclusion, restrictions etc,the SE was able to integrate itself with the rest of Nigeria within 8 years.By 1977, foreign reporters were already writing that "people from the region has taken over the sprawling FESTAC township in the federal capital territory of Lagos" which at the time was the newest symbol of Nigeria's petrol wealth.

I am not chestbeating, please.I am sorry for drawing this kind of reference to drive home this point. What you all need is a thriving economy not NASS or federal appointments,so stop whining.

What you need is a focused leadership in the SE.

There is another instance when the colonial government said they could not find a single Igbo man to represent them in the Nigerian Legislative Council in 1931. They couldn't find one single person that was qualified so they chose CMS missionary Rev George T Basden who was resident in Awka at the time to represent the Igbo. Basden had earlier brilliantly testified at the inquiry set up to probe the massacre of women during the women's war of 1929,a.k.a Aba Women Riot.

Basden remained the Igbo representative at the Nigerian Legislative Council from 1931-1937 according to professor Dimitri Van Den Berselar.

Anyway,Zik returned from America through Ghana in 1937 and the rest was history.Within 20 years of Zik's return he obtained self rule for his people and moved his his folks from having no qualified person to represent them in the National Assembly equivalent at the time to leading the legislative house by producing the first native Nigerian speaker of the House of Representatives in Jaja Nwachukwu.

The path to sociopolitical and economic freedom is seen in your journey so far.

Check your history.

Son a typical Igbo man lost interest in anything Nigeria government position a very very long time ago....in short we lost interest in Nigeria...some still do vote because it's a trending at that moment and the wave is on everybody so the light brain Igbos goes to vote....WE HAVE UNDERSTOOD THAT WHO WINS OR WHO LOSS IS NOT ADDING ANY CHANGES IN OUR LIVES IT ONLY HAS CHANGES ON POLITICIANS LIFE...THATS WHY EVERY IGBO MAN WORKS HIS BODY, MIND ,HEART AND EMOTIONS 4TIMES HARDER TO SURVIVE BECAUSE WE DON'T DEPEND ON POLITICIANS EMPOWERMENT OR ASSLICKING. WE SWEAT ,WE SUFFER AND WE WAIT FOR A NATION THAT WILL BRING OUT THE BEST IN US AND GIVE US THE ATMOSPHERE TO HERNECE OUR POTENTIALS (BIAFRA)
