SHARWAMA'S APPROVED VISA TRANSCRIPT.
Date: June 7, 2019
Venue: Lagos Consulate
Time:6:30 a.m
Gender of VO: Male
Window: I Didn't notice, I was blown away by his cuteness and jerry curl grin grin grin
Ok it was the second to last window, before the exit door.
I: (Smiling) Good morning sir
V.O: Good morning, please pass me your passport and your I-20.
I did and he was like "please push your passport a little bit further". I pushed it and asked, "is it okay now sir?"
VO: Yes it is. Why are you going to the US
I: (deep breath + killer smile) To uhm, pursue a masters degree in Biology, Biomedical Science Concentration at East Tennessee State University, Johnson City Tennessee.
V.O: Why this degree?
I: I really want to work as a research scientist at a renowned biomedical research Institute here in Nigeria. Unfortunately, a masters degree in Biology or a closely related field is the minimum requirement for such a position. So this degree would not just help me hone my research skills or build my critical thinking, it would qualify me for the position I really want, when I return.
V.O: So why did you pick this school?
I: (Gesticulating with magical hands) For me, it wasn't just about the generous funding I received, which I am extremely grateful for by the way, it had a lot more to do with the student-faculty relationship I have built with my potential supervisor, professor Burna boy. We Skyped a couple of times and we have chosen a thesis topic I am super excited about.
V.O: What other schools did you apply to?
I: I applied at Texas A&M University, Commerce
VO: uhum(while typing)
I: Cleveland State University Ohio and Kansas State University Manhattan Kansas.
VO: Have you travelled out of the country before?
I: I have not had the need to sir.
VO: Are you married
I: No sir
V.O: You said you have funding, let me see the evidence
I: My school did not give me an official letter but it's on the I-20(I pointed at the document so he looked at it)
V.O: Ok I see $9590 to be payed by someone ,who is this?
I: That's my mum sir
V.O: What does she do?
I: My mum is a business woman, she sells African fabrics and traditional bridal attires
V.O: Yes do you have any proof, I want to see evidence.
I was confused and he mentioned "or bank statement"
I: (Killer smile)Yes, with all pleasure. Just a moment please.
So I got the bank statement
V.O(while looking at the statement) Doesn't your mum have other children to sponsor in school?
I: (I never expected that question, so my English technically failed me, so I looked at him and answered) All of us have finished school, it remainder two of us.
I was so embarrassed about my grammatical blunder but I was glad he understood the point, we were all done with school except two of my siblings.
V.O: Ok, I will be approving your Visa. He hands me the white paper. Talked about pick up in three working days, gave me back my SOA and I-20, asked me to keep it carefully and I would need the latter at the port of entry... Told me to have a wonderful day
I: (Killer smile) Thank you and have a wonderful rest of the day too.
Yup, I bounced out of the building grin
THE END grin grin grin

It is on the Nigerian immigration website. But because this is Nigeria, there is a black market price for instant processing, which mostly take a few hours--depending on the immigration officer you know. Someone was at Abeokuta on Tuesday and he told me he was told to pay 45K. Same day. Go to their office in Lagos to check and ask for information.
Thanks for that.. But are you saying it will be more than 45k if it's not done in a black market?

Do me. I am a doctor too
Inimbom:
I have been a silent follower and I have learnt a lot here but I need help in decision making about choice of school. I am a doctor and I am about to apply for a Master of Public Health program. I need help from gurus on this, I want to pick between University of Florida and University of South Florida for my application. University of Florida is top rated in the state of Florida, I think second in ranking in the state but not among the top 20 schools of public health by the Usnews and times ranking of MPH schools. University of South Florida is ranked 6th in the state but is Top 15 in Usnews and times ranking of schools of public health. Now they both offer the concentrate in mph that I want. I want to pick a school in Florida along with the other schools I want to apply to. How do I make a decision. Which of the two schools would give me a competitive edge seeing that UF is ranked higher than USF in the state but USF MPH is ranked higher than UF MPH by Usnews.

Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by fairheart(m): 9:39pm On Jun 13, 2019
No, no. The price the guy paid is the black market price. If you go through the normal processing, it should be under 30K, but it could take more than a month. I don't know why, but these guys always have one or two reasons to justify the delay. So, if you want your passport the same day, within a week, the price may be more than 30K.
Bjteensdes24:

Regarding bank statement. Some online pdf copy are as good as the original. For example i am on paperless billing so for mine there is no difference between online pdf and printed original so check with your sponsor. If the pdf doesnt say online or anything then just print it in clear print and that should be fine

Thanks
Maybe I should, maybe I will wink
Anyways... it’s within the last 6 months and it came in ending of last month when I submitted it to the school, if May is okay I could just print it out then, if not then.... Sigh (stress!!)

Thanks

I am so sorry you felt ignored, I just wanted the masters to respond to you coz they have better experience than I do. You know you can always PM me, I love to be PMed grin
Following the VO's trend of strictly checking financial credibility, I suggest you have a MOST recent bank statement shipped down for you.

Yes, even Ibadan might issue the same day with that price. This black market price is mostly within Lagos and Abeokuta.

I reside in Ibadan but owing to their delay, I was advised to go to Ado which I did and I got it the same day. The guy who I was referred to in Ado told me it is normally done for 25k but he has to bribe some other guys.

There's a special thread for GRE and I have attached the link.
https://www.nairaland.com/1832477/how-achieve-high-scores-gre
I am sure it would be very helpful and you will find great answers there.
I can't remember the books I used, I think I was so desperate for a high score and I used all the textbooks B.Y Mafit sent to me when I registered with them.
Magoosh is also very important. Visa preparations have erased my GRE memories grin grin grin
I don't have any idea about your prospective program or schools that offer full funding for it, I am so sorry.
Had it been you congratulated me, I would have told you my GRE score and added TOEFL as jara, well it is too late now grin grin grin

You are preaching to the choir. I know how stressful the process can be, especially preparing to write GRE. I was so stressed out that my menstrual cycle changed!
Sometimes after reading for hours you decide to attempt questions and you fail woefully, you begin to wonder if you can really pass the exam. You just have to keep going. Think of the funding you could get with high scores, think of the schools that will be rushing you like fresh bread from oven, think about increased visa chances, think about it all and keep pushing my friend.
You would need a good support system by the way, very few people who would support you, speak strength to your spirit, pray for/with you and listen to you when you need to talk. With a good support system, you can be like Liverpool, you will never walk alone grin grin grin
You can always PM me by the way, we are in this together! Queens see Queens grin
