That's the problem. Family will cheat you, even if you decide to give it to reputable contractors, how reputable will they be? They will still siphon and cheat you once they know you are based abroad.

Buying will be too cost to building from scratch. The beauty of building from scratch is that, you can build it to your taste.

Sending money to family to build for you can be dangerous "cuz everyone eyes dey shook for money in this Nigeria o."

Nothing like this is my brother he can't do such to me. They will flex the money or use it to buy lands for themselves and nothing one will do as a person.

This has been my major concern. How do we go about building our own houses here in Nigeria when living abroad?

Should it be that one should use his annual leave period of 4 weeks to rush down to Nigeria and start his project himself and the contractor continue from there while updating him with videos and pictures of the progress of the project?

Some people do that in the property section though. But I know the contractor will cheat them on a huge rate.
