Avoidable deaths. Families would be made to grieve needlessly.

When laws ought to be passed for containers to be latched or fined 500k and if fined five times forfeit the truck.

This is the litmus test for the new governance in Lagos. Its time for smart decisions and smart laws been passed smartly. No more excuses
All this is coursed by greed, obasanjo refused to allow container enter through any other state except Lagos..

Nigeria need to decentralized Cago coming into the country to come in through 4 or 5 states, that would have released Lagos of this mad container traffic but no Yoruba and gree, and the hatred for the Igbo to succeed is something else.

All containers must be latched and should be subjected to tests once every six months to push out unfit haulage trucks off the road.

If we see an unfit truck on the road, its purely a gasket, gaskia. No need to wait for accidents. Get unfit trucks off the road

The big man will always bribe the politician so as to operate during the day. I pray that many politicians should be killed by the containers.

Would have been even better if those trucks were still parked there for maybe one of them would have been parked at exactly the bad soot that tumbled the containers

Why can't this containers be welded permanently to the trucks and the goods inside are loaded and unloaded through the rear door, how is this so complicated to be carried out when it is not rocket science.
most haulage service containers owners does not like clipping these containers on their trucks for easy offload and reload and also severe damage of their trucks incases of accidents
Re: Container Falls On Multiple Vehicles At Tincan, Apapa, Lagos (Disturbing Photos) by Nodogragra4me(m): 7:25am On Jun 16, 2019
Containers are not just dumped on flatbeds. You might not see chains around but it is latched... That is the reason you find some square grooves and openings around the base of containers...those are the point of attachment to trucks

Bad road that makes trucks wobble from side to side is the cause of most of the incidents of containers falling off trucks...once they start wobbling, the turntable is affected and before you know it, it forcefully yank off the bed from the tractor

There are pallatives that can be employed to avoid such occurrences. We have Lastma on the road, the state govt should order Lastma with power to control and inspect these guys. U latched trucks should be arrested. Trucks without brakes banned from the roads, trucks beyond certain number of years banned. Emergency road repairs permanently in routes where containers pass often.

. This is just one out of a million problems we battle with everyday, no light, no water, no jobs, insecurity everywhere, no accommodation, poor roads, poor education system that's still getting poorer by the day, cultism in our schools and even on the streets, its difficult to pay 30,000 minimum wage but easy to allocate over 19 billion to some few individuals to buy furniture, where do we start from?

Said enough about the Ports and the logistics industry in Nigeria with a spotlight on Lagos. It appears we are oreoared to die needlessly than do the needful. May sentiment not ruin us completely.

It goes beyond latching. The problem starts with the way the containers are loaded and the failure to stabilize the contents and secure them properly inside the containers. This mainly occurs after inspection when agents do a rush job in trying to beat demmurage. Pressure will always cause corner cutting.

We have a useless government in the federal and an about to be useless in the state if they dont wake up to their real responsibilities fast.

When we are not bunch of crazies I wonder how many govt will allow human beings to still pass that place with no measures put in place even if temporary.

Every week In this country if Boko Haram doesn’t kill, bandits will, if bandits doesn’t then herdsmen will, if herdsmen doesn’t container will fall on people, if that doesn’t happen tanker will explode, and if that doesn’t happen police will kill and it will be accidental discharge and if none of this happens, then someone will commit suicide or Kidnappers will adopt someone. But in all this we still have a government, both federal and states still claiming to be on top of affairs. For as long as none of this happens to them or their families, then to hell with everything.
We are our own biggest enemy. If you care make all the money in the world, one thing remains for sure, you are a Nigerian and the image of this country will go with you wherever you go. A poor citizen of a rich nation will always be respected and treated better than you with all your stupid senseless money.

Don't think they are falling because of bad roads but because they are not properly secured. Nigeria is basically putting containers on the back of flat bed trucks when in advanced nations the trailer is bought with an enclosed container that cannot be removed cause it's permanently attached to the frame.
A pity
Advanced nations are advanced because they took it upon themselves to manufacture whatever they want. They have all types of equipment for all types of jobs. Equipment, spare parts and a maintenance attitude. They maintain often because they are all interested in the equipment and how to make it better. MOT is there to remind them to carry out regular maintenance on road bound equipment (vehicles).
Nigeria, we don't manufacture anything. Just fold hands and import from white man. When the money runs dry, we start to manage failing Whiteman equipment without fresh spare parts. We can't make anything.
The danger now is that the whole of Nigeria is filled up with equipment that is slowly turning into Junk everywhere. Junk on the road, school, homes, offices. Vehicles breaking down and crashing into each other on the roads daily.

I feel you.
I once lived overseas (UK). The only enjoyment I had was that if played very well, people would not know I was Nigerian. They something's thought, Ghanaian or Kenyan.
Is just that I used to feel lonely and would then open up to Nigerians (Igbo, Yoruba guys) that I too was a Nigerian. At a point I want to just associate only with the whites and forget everything.
I still have an uncle there that did this. He has forgotten us very well and married a white woman, wants to die and be burried there. Doesn't give a damn about his father's property in my mum's village. He's first son.

Anything Equipment in this Nigeria, is never maintained.
The latches and containers surely have some nuts and bolts which must have broken off and nobody cares to fix.

If you become so interested in equipment repairs/maintenance, fellow Nigerians will not appreciate your effort and pay you proper fees for your work
Just see how we treat mechanics. ...
That's why correct people are discouraged from doing mechanic work. And yeye people are the ones doing it instead .
